• Look for these key words:
•< : “is less than” or “is fewer than”
•> : “is greater than” or “is more than”
•≤ : “is less than or equal to” or
“is at most” or “is no more than”
•≥
: “is greater than or equal to” or
“is at least” or “is no less than”
3. Example 1:
• A number w minus 3.5 is less than or
equal to -2.

• Twice a number k is at least -7.
• A number y added to 5.2 is less than 23.
• A number x is no less than -4.
6. Graphing Inequalities
• The graph shows all solutions of the
inequality on a number line.
• To graph:
• Use an open circle when the
number is not a solution.
• Use a closed circle
when the
number is a solution.
• Use an arrow left or right to show
other solutions.
