After Bridges in Seoul, KD School’s Saturday group plays the paper elements besides Zometool.
Making parts at Trotec China’s stamp factory for workshops
They have not yet produced laser- cutters in China
Making models for displaying at math-and-art workshop in Academia Sinica, Taiwan
at Institute of Mathematics, Academia Sinica Taiwan, the participants were school teachers
This was the first workshop of the design
Professor Liu, from NTCU, who is the one of the experts in mathematical history and culture, led the workshops happen with Dr. Lih’s supports
Prof. Jin, NTU Chemistry Department, has very beautiful beading works which were also shown in Imaginary exhibitions in Taiwan.
MY (Ming Yao Department Store) Family World has regular Zometool Lessons
M3 in Serbia, this was the first exhibit of the models
Y.T. Lee’s Summer Programs on Zometool, and we gave participants, primary school students the paper elements as souvenirs.
We have done several Zometool events in NTSEC and 2015 we tried the paper elements with Ms. Ai- Jen, Chen from NTUCASE (Center for Advancement of Science Education)
with her summer interns’ help
We prepared all the workshop materials from Taipei along with some different elements for icosahedra (at that that about 12 different elements), and this set turned out to be the basic set in Dutch Design Week with IGEPA.
with IGEPA’s supports we had a very nice stand in eindhoven
There was also a workshop paralleled to the display
and children from KD School worked with the participants of the open house day
The first time these paper models were in Imaginary exhibition
The exhibited items were made by Helen Yu from TWeducare and students guides explained to visitors
There were workshops
The displaying models were still made by Helen Yu with some KD School’s children assistance though
Children made the model
visitors enjoyed it.
This brought us a question: Is it also possible for people to make the models and then showcase them? just like what we did with Zometool’s Omnitruncated Dodecaplex?
Now, the workshops are placed before the exhibitions and students guides make the exhibited items. Here are two examples:
how would we sparkle more minds through communicating math with art?
What would you plan to do with these paper elements?
What would you plan to do with these paper elements?

But at the other side, I landed in a wilderness, where, with a lot of efforts, I had to find my way, until I finally found the open gate, the open mathematical gate.

From there you can see well-ordered paths, going in all directions and since then I go there often and repeatedly. Sometimes I think I've crossed the whole domain, and then suddenly I find a new way and I taste a new delight.

Ruminating Escher’s remarks rose up my mission to realize the “garden”. Besides, the greatest value of art is to bring people inspirations. Therefore, I treasure opportunities of exhibits and have accumulated experiences of hands-on workshops among different age groups.(W18)

By creating models with exhibit guides, especially student guides, or even with visitors to the exhibits, we have livened up the garden. In fact, our garden of polyhedra is a creation from inspirations. It is inspired from Da Vinci’s drawing in his book, La Divina Proportione, with Luca Pacioli and Escher’s work, Gravity. Along with many people’s efforts, now, the garden is growing.
