Chapters into the Bible, and man sinned. Gen 3. 6 Chapters in
man is inclined to evil. Gen 6:5-7.
Samples of God’s response to Sin. Gen 19, Numb 15, Jos 7, Lev
10, 2 Sam 6. Annihilated for looking back, stoned for picking
sticks, consumed for one wrong offering, killed for one wrong touch
e.t.c. God takes sin seriously.
The scales for sin – what and against whom? (analogy of a slap)
Consequences of sin – Col 1:21, John 8:34; Tim 2:26, John 3:20;
Eph 4:18, Rom 6:19, Rom 1:28; 2 Cor 4:4, Rom 1:26; 1 Pet
2:11, Rom 1:24; Gen 8:21; Matt 9:12, Rom 3:10-18, Eph2:1-2 –
We were dead in Sin!
God’s wrath against sin – Ps 5:5-6, John 3:36, Ps 1-50 (14 times)
God’s Gracious Initiative – Dead men don’t invite, God invites
men. Deut 7:7-8, Jer 1:5, John 15:16
The Divinity of Jesus, His Invitation and sacrifice – Matt 1-4, Matt
4:19. (analogy, in matters of love), Jesus – lamp, high
priest, sinlessness, Is 53:5-6. The Cross as an expression of God’s
mercy and wrath in their fullest. Research the accuracy of
Prophecy about Jesus.
Our Salvation - I am not saved primarily because I decided, but
because God in Jesus decided. The Concept of Adoption. God
Seeks. Eph 1:3-6, Luke 15, 1-7. God initiates, we accept
responsibility.
4. More to Our Salvation
O Our Salvation is not merely by confessing –
O Salvation by accent and repeating a prayer, or
Salvation by accepting God’s invite to die to live. The
cost of discipleship:
Peter, Andrew, James, John, Saheed. Dangerously
deceived: Matt 7:21-23.
O Cultural vs biblical Christianity. Repeated
rededication Gal 2:20. Matt 7:13-14. Matt 10:1722, Matt 16: 16, 24-24 Matt 24:9, Luke 14: 26-27,33.
Belief in context James 2:19 (demons and others
believe), John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Rom 10:9
(arguments- Matt 7:21-23). One of the biggest ploys
of the Devil in our generation is to allow people to
believe they are Christians when they are not –
Dangerously deceived. (analogy of a man hit by a
truck) Matt 4:17. Jesus’ first word – Repent. John the
Baptist Matt 3:2, Acts 2:37-38 first salvation message.
Ez 14:6, 1 Thes 1:9-10, (analogy – the wooden idol
and the western satisfier)
5. More to Our Salvation
O Our Salvation is not by following certain paths
O The critical difference between Followers of Jesus
and all other world religions are,
1.
2.
3.
4.
O
All others have 8 fold paths, 5 pillars, rules and
regulations, only Jesus said, follow me!
All others have teachers showing the path, Jesus
said I am the way, the truth and the life. All
died, Jesus lives.
All others are religions and burdens of rules, Jesus
made a call for a personal relationship.
Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, makes him
timeless and his words relevant through all ages 1
Cor 15.
There is one way and judgment for other ways
John 5: 22-24, 26-29, Rev 20:11-15. No need for
satanic questions – Did God really say? Mark 9:4348, Rev 20:15, Rev 21:8, Rev 14:11, (symbols? For
what?). We no longer live in the horror of hell – “hell
of time”. Eternal life for believers John 3:16, 11:2526, 14:1-6, Rev 21: 1,4
6. More to Our Salvation
O Our Salvation is by Grace only, not works.
O Flesh cannot be holy. God gives a new heart and a new spirit.
John 3, Ez 36:25-28, Jer 31:33-34, Matt 1:21, John 1:29, Is
1:18, Ps 51:2, 1 Cor 6:11, 1 John 1:9, (marriage analogy – all
yours is mine),
O Following Jesus requires devotion to his word. John 8:31-32, John
15:7, 1 Cor 2:16, Rom 12:2, Col 3:9-10, 2 Cor 10:5.
O Our Salvation is not to simply be saved
O Matt 4:19 The mission must be clear from start! He won’t call them
O
O
O
O
to do it, he will cause them to do it.
Matt 28:19-20 Starts with a call, ends with a commandment.
We were saved to make disciples. Transformed to transform.
Transformation of mind, desires, wills, relationships, purpose for
living. If you are a true disciple, you will be supernaturally
compelled to make disciples. You must want to, not have to.
Believing requires proclaiming – no such thing as privatized
Christianity. With the realities of judgment and sin, it is
inconceivable not to proclaim. It is arrogant to be silent. Luke
24:47, Rev 5:9. John 15:7. Jesus was promising to give everything
needed to to spread your truth from wherever I live to the ends of
the earth.
Summary of our Story. Discipleship has become our souls
supreme desire
