1. fire and smoke within the frame in this
OTS shot to show turmoil within the
scene , this is usually associated with
the zombie genre , as the country has
no restraints or leadership , so everyone
tends to go on a rampage.
desolate abandoned place , this is true to the zombie film
setting , this is because many people have fled from that
area so large spaces look abandoned , this creates tense
atmosphere as you don't know what could be hiding round
the corner.
gory makeup , this is stereotypical of the zombie genre as
it makes it look quire realistic almost although they have
just “eaten” someone. in this close up shot it shows
bloody hands and face.
the title of the film is in bold ,
red in colour and “Dead” being
the largest words , this is an
obvious connotation of the film ,
red has connotations of blood…
the use of the little girl is common of zombie
horror films , as you don't usually think of little
girls as zombies , this makes the fact that she is
a zombie a little more creepy and unsettling , it
may also be a little surprising for some viewers
who are not used to this genre.
long shot of ambulance running someone over,
this is quite ironic as , ambulances are meant to
help people , it connotes that the country is in
great turmoil.
long shot of a high volume of zombies , shows
that the survivors must have some skill set to be
able to survive just because of the pure volume
of people that are zombies.
the editing of the titles has
been done very well , the
use of the blood blowing
away give it a great effect
and does look very realistic
, the way they have done
this is very striking , as
before when you see it
,you associate it with blood
, then the effect sets in and
looks great and fits with the
genre very well.
this is very suitable for the
genre as it fits with all the
blood and gore you would
expect from a zombie
horror
