The Prop List

 1. 1. The Prop list
Mask- This will distort the identity of the villain and also at the end of the film it’s used to symbolise the villain where the last place the villain has been as well as it being where the villain’s last killing was. Saw, Scream, Valentines and Halloween have the villain wearing a mask so the victims and most importantly the audience do not know who the killer is until the end which makes the film more interesting to watch because the audience will be using Rolande Barthes narrative theory. These are the conventions of using this prop.
Knife- This is the weapon used to kill the first victim. Also within Scream Valentines and Creep the openings there are knives shown on-screen. In Scream it’s shown as a prop in a kitchen but however in the centre of the room suggesting that knives is in the centre of what goes on within the film in terms of the killings. In Creep it shows a close up of a knife already covered in blood, expressing that it’s already been used, used to kill somebody. These are the conventions of using this prop.
Phone- This is being used from the first victim where it can also set the scene in terms of the film starting at equilibrium. Where stereotypically teenagers are known to being on the phone a lot so also represents what age the character could be in which Scream use a phone where a young woman is talking. This is the convention of using this prop.
Jordan Adeyemi
