2. Lesson Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Differentiate the platforms available for developing web content.
` 2. Understand the purpose of these platforms and know the basics of
using them; and
3. Enhance ones knowledge in the world of cloud computing.
3. What is Online Platforms
A Learning Platform is an integrated set of interactive online
services that provides the teachers, learners, parents and others
involved in education with information, tools and resources to support
and enhance educational delivery and management.
4. Types of Online Platforms
1.Social Media Platforms
Allow you to create not only personal accounts but also pages and
groups where you can share content. A social platform is a web-based
technology that enables the development, deployment and
management of social media solutions and services. It provides the
ability to create social media websites and services with
complete social media network functionality.
5. 2. Blogging Platforms
Focuses on content and design. It typically looks like a newsletter
where you are given options to change the design to your liking.
A blog is a discussion or informational website published on the World
Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries
("posts"). Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order,
so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page.
Until, blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of
a small group, and often covered a single subject or topic.
6. 3.Content Management System (CMS)
A computer management system (CMS) is a computer application
(sometime online or browser based) that allows you to published, edit
and manipulate, organize and delete web content. CMS is used in
blogs, news website, and shopping.
4. Word press
A free blogging Platform. WordPress is reportedly the most
popular website management or blogging system in use on
the Web, supporting more than 60 million websites. WordPress has
also been used for other application domains such as pervasive
display systems (PDS).

7. 6. Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is a type of computing that relies on shared
computing resources rather than having local servers or personal
devices to handle applications. In its most simple description, cloud
computing is taking services ("cloud services") and moving them
outside an organization's firewall. Applications, storage and other
services are accessed via the Web. The services are delivered and
used over the Internet and are paid for by the cloud customer on an
as-needed or pay-per-use business model.
8. Creating your own blog using word press
1. Sign up
2. Create your own blog . Simply click Register Another blog under My blogs in the dashboard.
3. Pick a blog name and then name it click Create blog(choose the free option) once you done.
You will get the following confirmation.
4. Click on change your blog description or permission. The general settings page will appear.
Set your site title and tagline, time zone to manila. Insert a blog picture.
You may change the other settings according to your preference, then click on save changes.
5. On the left menu, choose Appearance> Themes.
6. ON the themes page, select free to filter out the paid themes.
7. Select any theme, and then click activate.
8. Once the dialogue appears click Customize your site.
9. You will be directed to a page where you can edit your website.
9. Posting on your Word press Blog
1. On your dashboard, go to Post> Add new
2. Just type a title, customize the URL(optional), then post in the editor(see picture below).
3. Composed a welcome message for your future readers with a minimum of 100 words.
4. You may replace the format of your post to a standard post, an image, video aside quote or
link. For now, keep it on standard.
5. You may also add a category so that your posts are organized. Add tags so that others can
easily search your posts using the tags your specified.
6. Once done, you may preview your post. Once satisfied, click on published to post it.
7. Submit the URL of your website to your teacher.
10. Post Test
Re arranged the following steps in chronological order by numbering them from 1 to to the last
number of the steps. Write X if the step does not belong. Write your answer on the space provided
before each item.
A. Setting up a free blog using word press.
________ Click on change your blog Description or permission
________ Create a free word press account
________Choose a free theme then click customize
________ Edit the page theme to your liking.
________Delete other existing blog.
________Choose the option create a new blog or register another account.
________Pick a blog address and name.
________Chang the general settings including the site title ,tagline and time zone
________On the left menu, choose appearance> Theme
11. B. Posting using word press
________ Choose Format> Clear Formatting
________On your dashboard, go to post> Add new
________Disable auto –sharing
________Add the title, edit the URL (optional), the add the content of your post
________Change the format, category, and tags
________Preview your post, once satisfied, click on published.
