What is a Pledge?
A pledge is a promise to act in a specific way in the future.
A pledge can refer to our behaviour as citizens of Earth. If you were writing a pledge to be a good citizen
to the environment what would you write?
An introduction: Why you need to commit yourself to this pledge. What are your reasons for writing it.
You need to use expressions such as:
- In the name of--------------------------------- I promise that we/I ---------
- I pledge to----------------------------------
- I commit myself to -------------------------------
- I will--------------------------
Writing :
 Classify the pledges from the previous activity into the things you can do at home, at school, for
nature.
 Add other pledges to the list of the things you will do at home, at school, for nature. Write them in the
flipchart.
 Choose someone from your group to sneak to the other groups and read the pledges they have added
and tell your group about them. Together decide what other pledges you want to include into your
own.
 Choose someone from the group to report to the class your group pledge
