Cloud Computing

  1. 1. What is Cloud Computing ? • The use of hardware and software to deliver a service over a network (typically the Internet). • Users can access files and use applications from any device that can access the Internet.
  2. 2. • For example, many people use social networking sites or webmail, and these are cloud services. Photographs that people once kept on their own computers are now being stored on servers owned by third parties. These are also examples of cloud services. • An example of a Cloud Computing provider is Google's Gmail. Gmail users can access files and applications hosted by Google via the internet from any device

Risks? • Security and privacy: Some cloud providers may, however, use the personal information of users for advertising purposes or to learn more about the users for other reasons. • Technical Issues : You need a good Internet connection to be logged onto the server at all times. You will invariably be stuck in case of network and connectivity problems.

  8. 8. Google Drive is a complete office suite with cloud storage. You get a little bit of everything with this service, including a word processor, spreadsheet application, and presentation builder, plus 15GB of free storage space for anything you upload to Drive, including photos, videos, documents, Photoshop files and more.

Google Drive for PC is an application that installs a folder on your computer like other folders on your computer with one big difference -- automatic syncing with your Google Drive on the web. Like any other folder on your computer, you can: • Drag files in out of the folder • Rename files • Move files and folders around • Edit and save • Move to trash Any changes you make locally in the Google Drive folder are mirrored in My Drive on the web the next time your computer syncs.
