1. The weeknd is
wearing a normal
plain black t-shirt
this suggests that his
persona is
casual/serious/calm.
On the cover his
hair is messy
showing that he
doesn’t really
mind about his
appearance, he
finds his music
more important
than his image
Abel Tesfaye known as The Weeknd
The setting on the
cover is in a black and
white toned studio,
the ribbon down the
side looks like its
attached to a
balloon; this could
show he had a party
and now he thinks
back at it.
His marketing is
moody/serious kind
of character.
2. •In newspaper ‘the Telegraph’, James Lachno wrote an article on The
Weeknds performance at the O2 arena “three mix tapes blending slowburning r’n’b, electronica, hip hop and soul which made him a bloggers’
favourite,” shows he's an alternative character. James Lachno writes a
positive review on Abel Tesfaye known as the weeknd.
•In the last month there has been no celebrity stories about his personal life;
there are no photos of him coming out the club/punching someone or
anything. This shows he has a private lifestyle.
•He is an alternative artist/ he's trying to be different
•On his Twitter account he mostly talks about his tours, also talks about his
fans and where they can buy The Weeknd clothes (X'O hat, shirt etc)
•As soon as you go on The Weeknds website it shows the viewer the cover of
his latest album, this shows he cares mostly about his music rather than
people buying his clothes. I think the Weeknd would like to be seen as an
inspirational character who articulates his music with his life.

3. The weekn has fan sites on tumblr/twitter/facebook and instagram. His main
target audience are teenagers aged 16, to young adults 24; because of his
genre of music: R&B, Electronica, Hip hop and soul.
•The Weeknd further promoted his brand by aligning himself with some of the
most famous people on the planet, Drake who he was featured in a song
called “crew love” and then become recognized.
