2. Hue and saturation
Hue is a technical term which means colour and saturation means the amount of colour
added. Changing an images hue and saturation can allow me to change the eye colour of
a character on my film poster to add effect or to make the eye more prominent which will
change the audiences positioning. For example if you look at the image of the eye you can
see that the hue and saturation has been changed so that most of the eye is black and
white but the actual pupil is coloured.

3. Filter and tints
Filter and tints can be used in my film poster to change the atmosphere of the image. For
example many horror film poster use dark images to connote death and negativity
whereas as upbeat romantic comedies use filters to make characters glow and look
happier.

4. Retouching tools
Because I am making a horror film poster it is a possibility that the character on my film
poster may have cuts or scars and Photoshop can be used to add the cuts and scars. I may
also want to remove any spots or moles from the characters face and therefore I will use
those tools to do so. The realer I make the cuts look means the realer the poster looks. I
can also use the clone tool to clone an area on an image. This is very similar to spot
touching tool.

5. Depth of field
Depth of field is the length between the closest and the furthest item in an image. For
example a cat may be standing just behind a dog and this is a shallow depth of field because
the length between the images is quite short. If it was a deep depth of field then the distance
between two people in an image is long. The image below shows shallow focus where the
foreground is in focus and and the background is blurred and the one below. I will need to
choose which type of focus I want to use when making my film poster and magazine cover.
