Chapter Six Journal

Chapter six is talking about gaining self-awareness. Before self-awareness I learned
accepting personal responsibility that I created the life I want it. Then I learned how to choose
personal motivating and dreams that give me the way I can reach my goals and dreams. Then I
created a self-management that I want to help me in my journey for college and life. Without
these actions I couldn’t set up gaining self-awareness.
Gaining Self-awareness can help me to see myself all the actions I made in my life and college. It
showed me the journey I had in many years and other hand shows me that my goals and
dreams can come true if I take the good way toward it. This chapter also talking about that is
your responsibility to keep truck in your life. If something don’t work out for you that means
something wrong with you and you have to take immediate action how you can change the way
you want it. The people without self-awareness don’t realize when and how they get off there
course. By the time they notice what happen to them is too late to get back on truck. While the
people have self-awareness have alert that tells them what happening in their life. So they fix
before their situation get worst. This chapter also talking about the importance of attending
your classes and work. The more days you miss your classes is equal the lower grade you can

2. get from that class, or your instructor can drop you out for his/her class. At the same time days
you miss your work area without excuse absence you can lose some points. Many employee
don’t prefer someone who keep call the days they assigned work, so they can terminate the
employer doesn’t have enough points to work. I learned this chapter to make close relationship
my supervisor because I might need him one day recommendation work, so the relationship I
start with him today will help in the future that he can write me the letter I want from him in
the future, I also learned in this showing up my work will help me not to use my attendance
points unless there is really emergency situation.
The most three part I felt interesting in this chapter is the rules that make me success in college
and life. Rule one is showing up. If I show up every classes I am taking will help me not to miss
any assignments, lecture and test in my classes. Attendance is mandatory every classes that I
am taking, many of my professors don’t accept the late assessments I miss the day their giving
the rest of the class unless I let them know that I am missing that class day. I see a lot of
students those don’t show up their classes, I wonder if they forget that they paid to their
classes, and their responsibility is to show up how they earn attendance grades.
Second rule is I do my best work. I decided to be in college, this means it is one of my priority
that I do well all my assignments in every class. Doing my best work in all assignment will make
me happy when I get good points. If I don’t do my best work I will get poor grades which lead
life too how I reach my goals and dreams.
The third rule I feel interesting in this chapter is that I participate actively. As we all know
Participate actively is not something that just happens I need to make it happen. How I

3. participate actively I need to take notes during the class, ask the questions that I don’t
understand. If I need more time that my instructor explain some questions I have to meet them
before or after class, or visit their officer hours. Joining study group is one of the place I can
participate actively. During my study group I have to come up the questions I don’t understand,
also try to answer other students questions how I test my understanding for that subject.
Finally if I participate actively college and the life it make me easier to achieve my goals and
dreams.
The only thing I felt confusing in this chapter was the puzzle we did in the class. It was my first
time that I played this can of puzzle, I confused first time, at the same time I tried to help out
my group members so I just pass to the others how they build the puzzle. Finally we did it
together as team work. I gained experience that team work is always helpful.
The writing my own rules is other thing I want mention it. When I started college last semester I
come up some important rules that I will success in my college journey. Here are some of my
own rules attendant regularly in my classes, be prepared for my classes, ask my instructors
what I don’t understand, plan some study time. It was easy to making my own rules but, it is
hard how I can make a good relationship for my own rules. The advantage of having my own
rules can help me to keep truck my college and life journey. Otherwise I will see myself in
different direction and I will ask myself how I get there?
