This teacher loves learning and helping others, which led them to a career in teaching. They have taught World History in junior high for over 11 years. Their goal is to make students genuinely interested in history by developing critical thinking skills and making lessons engaging through discussion, videos, and respect for each student's perspective. The teacher believes that education and improving teaching skills can promote social mobility, so teachers must continuously better their craft to enhance the quality of education.

1. My Teaching Philosophy
I guess I love school because I have always loved learning new things. Also,
something that I love to do is to help others, so probably that’s what made start a
career in teaching.
I have found that teaching is a very challenging experience, especially working with
teenagers. My love for learning and to improve my teaching skills made me study
my master’s degree in Education, presenting the thesis on development of critical
thinking.
I’ve been teaching World History in Junior High for over 11 years, and a very
challenging objective for me is to make my students to be really interested in
history, not only to learn the subject and memorize names and dates. I want them
to view history, not as something that happened long time ago, and in faraway
places. I want to make them enjoy history as much as I do, and to view it as
something that will help them in their future lives through analyzing historical
events.
I am convinced that a way to achieve this is by developing in my students the
critical thinking. The use of strategies to develop the critical thinking can help
students understand and even enjoy history. So, I prepare my classes keeping this
in mind, making the classroom a place where students have the opportunity to
become involved in their own learning through discussion, participation and
educationally fun activities, like the videos that they made about Ancient Rome.
Also, it is important for me that each student is respected in class, and feels that
his/her opinion matter and is heard.
It is my belief that social mobility can be achieved through education, and we
teachers play a key role in this process. We have to be constantly improving our
skills in didactics and getting training courses to update our knowledge in new
tools. Improving the quality of education is a must in order to have a better country.
Learning is a process that never ends, and that’s what makes it so precious!
