I have been looking into the publishers of the rap magazines and from what I can tell is that
they mostly enjoy using new and upcoming celebrities in their front cover and all the way
through their magazine, this helps the audience to recognise what type of magazine it is but
also this will draw many people in.
The main publisher is Quincy jones he obviously enjoys listening to rap music otherwise he
wouldn’t have made a rap magazine and from what I have researched he only has founded
the ‘Vibe’ magazine and no others which again leads me to believe he enjoys this genre of
music. Most of the magazines are sold online as more and more things are. This helps the
magazine company to approach a wider range of audience.
Many companies are involved with this hip hop and RnB magazine, big companies such as
Spin Media who are part of many different magazines, this helps the audience to believe
that this magazine would be reliable as this company doesn’t have a bad reputation when it
comes to magazines.
The target audience for the ,magazine are young urban followers, so from what I can see
from most of the magazines the publisher has seen that this is the target audience and they
have used all of the urban celebrities to do with rap.
The magazine is based in America and the first issue of ‘Vibe’ was in 1993 and the final issue
which was on print was published in 2014, it’s strange that this one was on a hard copy
because the ‘Vibe’ company virtually based their whole company online. Most of the time
the magazines would be released every now and then. Vibe is known for the creativity of
their front covers which is the main thing that made Vibe a very popular magazine company.
