Athletes Professional Athletes
There are many arguments on pay gaps and wage differences between genders different races. However, salaries of professional athletes and every
day, essential careers, such as teachers, nurse, and police officers, can become an even bigger controversy because we don't understand why
athletes deserve to be paid that much, or we think us, as everyday workers, deserve to get paid more for what we do. There are some valid reasons
that contribute to professional athlete's high pay, and our average pay. This has always been an interesting line of inquiry for me because I never
understood why playing a sport could make you so famous and rich, but the salary for saving lives didn't even compare. I remember multiple
occasions where my dad and I were watching sports, and we landed on the topic of why professional athletes get paid so much. To no surprise, these
conversations always ended in frustration for both of us and each of asking, what makes professional athletes so much more important that the rest of
us? It is no secret professional athletes have a higher pay than most these days, but how much more? According to Chris Mueller, a sports columnist,
the average Chicago Bear's football player made two million dollars in 2011, and the highest paid doctor was paid close to $500,000 (Mueller). This
can cause much controversy due to the difference in preparation for the careers. To become a doctor, it takes many more years of education and much
more debt. The average medical

Green Bay Packers Characteristics
The Green Bay Packers are one of the most notable teams in the NFL and all of sports. The four time Super Bowl champions have a few negative
qualities, including bad defenses in the past and recent years of unsuccessful playoff runs. However, the negatives do not outweigh the team's
powerhouse offense and Super Bowl trophies. The team was founded in 1919 and had very little success until 1929. This is the start of the Green Bay
Packers that most people know as "Titletown". From 1929 to present day, the Packers have won 13 championships. That being the most
championships won by a single team in NFL history. While the Green Bay Packers are a very successful team, they have had their up's and down's.
One of the team's biggest strengths is their powerhouse offense. But the man under center is what makes that powerhouse offense run. That man is
Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league if not the best. His statistics are unbelievable. He has the highest
quarterback rating in NFL history at 103.8, while the second closest is 98.9. He has thrown 300 touchdowns to only 74 interceptions. That being a 4:1
touchdown to interception ratio, also the best in NFL history. One of his most impressive streaks was his success at home. In 2015, he threw an
interception at home. The last one he threw at home before that was in 2012. He went three years without throwing an interception at home. Truly a
remarkable feat. In 2011, Aaron had one of the best seasons

Professional Athletes, Sports Cars, Mansions, And Money
When thinking of professional athletes, sports cars, mansions, and money all come to mind. What about after the pros? Most people would say that
professional athletes are set for the rest of their lives with everything luxurious. In most cases, athletes are accustomed to the luxurious lifestyle and
living for the moment while playing in the pros that they do not think of retirement and no longer receiving salary or comparable salary if securing
alternative employment. So if they do not have money put away, whatever they were paid as their last salary is what they have left. They continue
spending their money on expensive restaurants, trips, cars, etc. until it is gone and bankruptcy is the only option. According to Sports Illustrated, "in...

Although Owens had amazing talent, his ego disrupted the team on the field and in the locker room. After many seasons with San Francisco,
Owens decided to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004 as an unrestricted free agent. Later throughout the season, Owens broke his leg but
with a speedy recovery he was able to take his starting role in Super Bowl XXXIX. Even though he made it back in time for the Super Bowl, the
Eagles came up short and lost to the New England Patriots. Although Terrell Owens first season with the Eagles went smoothly, his second season
was not as good. Unhappy with his contract, critical with the Eagles quarterback, and causing trouble in the locker room, the club released him in
2006. Soon after his release, the Dallas Cowboys picked Owens up for three seasons before dropping him due to his ego off and on the field. Terrell
Owens would then go to the Buffalo Bills for the 2009 season and then the Cincinnati Bengals for the 2010 season. As a six–time Pro Bowl selection
and being second in league history with 15,934 receiving yards, tied for second with 153 touchdowns, and sixth with 1,078 catches, Terrell Owens
did not receive a single offer from an NFL club in 2011. In hopes of gaining attention from NFL scouts, Owens joined the Allen Wranglers Indoor
Football League in 2012. Terrell Owens biggest downfall was how he conducted himself off and on the field. Many teams would not give him the time
of day because of how he conducted

The Role Of Sports In The 1960's
Sports in the 1960's In the 1960's most sports hit a really big growth spurt. If it weren't for the 1960's baseball, football, and boxing would not be the
same as they are today. These sports caught almost everyone's attention on game days. People tried to be like the players and be as good as them, that
pushed people to do better at athletic things that made them healthier. Sports like baseball, football, and boxing all provided role models that changed
people's lives in the 1960's.
Baseball in the 1960's The 1960's made a really big impact on baseball. This decade was a time of change for America. Baseball changed with it by
adding a lot of new additions. They added an ameuter draft into the league that expanded the sport and the talent. ... Show more content on

One player could make a huge different in a game. They can even win the whole game for the team. That's exactly what Wilt Chamberlain did when
he scored 100 points in a basketball game in 1962. Jim Brown was a football player for the Cleveland Browns. He was one of the most dominant
running backs in 1963. He was so good they dedicated movies, books, articles, and more just to him for his impact he made in the sport. Sandy Koufax
is the best pitcher in baseball of all time. He had a record of 137 wins and 70 losses. With nicknames like Koo–Foo, Sandy, or The Man With The
Golden Arm he was not a person to mess with. He threw really fast and really accurate many batters were afraid of him. He won the 1966 world
series(10 Famous Athletes of the 1960's). Any in any sport can be the best player in that sport. These people put a lot of work into what they do to be

It's Time To Avoid Concussions In Professional Sports
Could you image you having a mild concussion? Or even your kid having one? Thinking that it will be gone in a few days, but not knowing that
you could have life threatening injury to your brain, just by a blow to the head, by playing a sport. According to Sports Illustrated, in July 2014, a
federal judge approved to the NFL, $765 million settlement, after 4,500 former players filled lawsuits against them, but recently, that settlement has
been raised to $1 billion, covering more than 20,000 former players for the next 65 years. Professional organizations try there hardest to make the
game as safe as possible, but like anything, there's flaws. Organizations like the NFL, NBA, NHL, and even the MLB, are trying to make sports as safe
as possible... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reason it is absolutely critical that sports should changes should make equipment safer because of the amount of deaths. Critics often argue
that athletes know the dangers of sports because it's there choice to do that sport, they might not even get a concussion if there's no contact. However,
they are wrong, because one little bang of the brain hitting the skull, they could have life threatening effects for the rest of their life. There is a movie
created that talks about how concussions (head injury), and how it impact one nfl player. In the new movie Concussion, Will Smith plays a
neuropathologist who performed a game–changing autopsy on former Pittsburgh Steelers center Mike Webster in 2002. After a career in which
Webster earned four Super Bowl rings and a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he suffered from memory loss, depression, and dementia, was
homeless at times, and died at age 50. (The movie is based on a GQ article that describes Webster's psychiatric symptoms, including "pissing in his oven

The Super Bowl is the yearly championship game of the National Football League (NFL). The NFL is the highest level of professional football in the

Description
The Super Bowl is an American football game that is played on a Sunday. The game is usually on the last Sunday in January or the first Sunday in
February. Super Bowl Sunday is viewed by millions of Americans. The location of the game is determined by the NFL three to five years in
advance. Many cities place a bid to host the Super Bowl, then the city is evaluated on ability to host the game. When choosing the destination weather
is also considered. In the past, the game has taken place in Miami ten times, nine times in New Orleans, seven times in LA and four times in Tampa.
Also, the home team is based on the rotational basis with odd number games, therefore they will be able to call the coin toss.
There are various communication phases exhausted to create a memorable event such as the Super Bowl. Top companies produce an advertisement
to either make fans laugh, cry, or just have an emotional reaction. There are over 50 ads shown during the game. Not only are commercials used to
promote the game, but also celebrity names are used. Last year's super bowl performer was BeyoncГ©. Getting the word out that BeyoncГ© was
performing increased the number of viewers. Before her performance, she dropped a powerful music video that also made the crowd go wild. With
each performance lights, smoke, music, and hype are used to create this experience.

World Series Rings Research Paper
World Series rings are awards given to every player in Major League baseball who has won the World Series. Started in the 1922 World Series
when rings were given to the members of the winning team, the New York Giants, courtesy companies like Tiffany& Co or Balfour, they have
grown in stature and size. They flaunt the team's logo in precious stones like diamonds and rubies and are set in 14 carat white gold. Teams buying
their own members have a system of classification with the grandest rings for their top players, and watered down versions for players lower down the
rank and team employees. While the first rings had a couple of diamonds, the modern–day version has over 200 diamonds! Valuable Sports
Memorabilia It is also considered by fans as valuable sports memorabilia that can be auctioned or sold at will. Sites like eBay host such items, and
many a player in want of money has sold his ring and made thousands of dollars. Museums have replicas as exhibits and there is a reckoning of who
has won the most number of rings. Yogi Berra has won the most number... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basketball, Super Bowl Football have all got their championship awards in the form of these rings which are coveted by everyone, but unfortunately
can be enjoyed only by those players and their teams who win the year's championship. Teams are also made up of fans, who root for their beloved
players, shouting themselves hoarse and cheering them to victory. So, when someone came up with the idea that these fans too should be rewarded
with their own championship rings, it was implemented by a few companies who dedicated their time, effort, knowledge, and expertise in making
exact replicas of the World series championship rings, as showy, as exuberant, and as 'obnoxiously over the top' as the originals. The Championship

After trading their first and fifth round draft picks to the New England Patriots in exchange for the 23rd overall pick, the Baltimore Ravens' front
office was buzzing with excitement. They knew what they needed, and they knew who they wanted: a 6'5 322 pound force on the offensive line.
Earning First Team Freshman All–America honors and First Team Freshman All–SEC, playing in all 11 games and paving way for Ole Miss RB Mico
McSwain to establish the freshman rushing record, left tackle Michael Oher was a force to be reckoned with. His talent and size were unmatched and
unheard of on his path to greatness. His success on the field, however, doesn't truly reflect his struggled upbringing and scarred past. The story of

Why I Want To Be A Football Player
When I grow up I want to be a football player. My favorite football team is the Raiders. I want to be a wide receiver. First of all I want to be a football
player because I want to be wide receiver because its offense and they can catch and run. I want to be a wide receiver because I like to run routes, it's a
way of scoring. I also want to be a wide receiver so I can catch all over my opponents. Last I want to be a wide receiver because I can juke my
opponents out and score a touchdown. Next I like to be a football player because I like to make touchdowns. I like to make touchdowns so we can win.
I also like to make touchdowns so we can make it to the playoffs and play some of the top football teams. Last I like to

Organizational Behavior in the Nfl
Organizational Behavior in the National Football League Katie Johnston MT3250 Organizational Behavior Dr. Carl Proehl February 4, 2013 Abstract
This paper will explore how people within the National Football League (NFL) interact with each other to reach their goals as a team, and an
organization as a whole. Sports teams are defined as two or more individuals who possess a common identity, have common goals and objectives, share
a common fate, exhibit structured patterns of interaction and modes of communication, hold common perceptions about group structure, are personally
and instrumentally interdependent, reciprocate interpersonal attraction and consider themselves to be a group (Group Dynamics, 2004). There are

There are a series of periods that teams go through in making their decisions. The first is the preparation period, where the coaches and players
anticipate the actions the opponents intend to perform and the probability of the actions. This early stage process is the one where video observation is
used, studying the opponent's strengths, weaknesses, and styles of play. The next decision regards how the team (A) should react, or respond, to the
actions of the opposing team (B). Timing and quality must be a factor into team A's next move. If the opposing team (B) changes their plan of action
that was anticipated by team A, quick modifications must be made to ensure a successful retaliation. The success of decision making within a team
depends on different mechanisms operating simultaneously and in mutual interaction (Decision Making in Sport, 2004). Let's look more in depth at
the visual aspect of decision making. Visual information is critical for any team. The visual (spatial) learning system is when a person (i.e. athlete)
prefers learning through images, colors, pictures and maps to gather information. Cueing and priming are key features in the sport realm that are
integral in visual attention (Decision Making in Sports, 2004). When an athlete is confident of their opponent's next move, their

Tom Brady Research Paper
Love him or hate him, you can't deny the success of Tom Brady. The question is, is he the greatest of all time, though? Advocates for Brady will
point out how no other quarterback in NFL history has been as productive when it matters most and almost no one has been able to beat Father
TIme quite like he has. The detractors on the other hand will just emphasise the scandals he has been through and the all around talent level of
teams he's been on. Either way, Tom Brady has accomplished what other players can't even fathom. The case for Brady is simple. No other player in
NFL history has been to seven Super Bowls and only one other player has won as many (five) as Brady has. Though Charles Haley, a defensive
lineman for the Cowboys and 49ers, has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Considering that it is well known that most teams cheat in one way or another, but just don't get caught, it is easy to look past the troubles he's
been though. At the same time though, the fact that he did get caught makes it worst. In my opinion, there is no discussion when it comes to best
ever. Going into his fifth, and possibly NOT final Super Bowl, Brady was considered to be the best, yet still had major competition with Joe
Montana. Montana, who won four championships, never lost one, unlike Brady. The thing that puts Brady over the top for me, cementing him as
greatest of all time, is the fact that he was able to come back from an unprecedented 25 point deficit in the game's biggest stage. When it comes to
sports there are never finite answers to these type of questions, but with Brady playing at the level he is going into his 40's there is no telling what
he can still do in his career. In three years, most likely when the greatest of all time is set to retire, he may have one or two more rings to add to the
collection, possibly ending the conversation once and for

Football Player Essay
At the end of each NFL season data is gathered to determine who the best overall players in the NFL are. The data gathering is done by a group
named Pro Football Focus. The data is categorized by grading, statistics, and schematic context. The NFL is blossoming with new stars and still
retains the presence of many present day "legends" of the game. In honor of the upcoming 2017 NFL season Pro Football Focus (PFF) has released a list
of top players from 2016. I have chosen to present the top ten player from the 2016 NFL season.
10. Luke Kuechly (6'3", 238 lbs.) Linebacker, Carolina Panthers
The five year veteran from Boston College earned a 93.1 grade from PFF despite missing six games. Kuechly is considered the most complete

His grade from PFF is a 91.7 and he improves this number with each season played. Miller almost single handedly won Super Bowl L for the Broncos
by recording 2.5 sacks, forcing two fumbles, and winning
Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player Award. Over his career Miller has recorded 73.5 quarterback sacks and was third fastest to 50 sacks. Barring injury
Miller will be in the Hall of Fame and may one day be the all time leader in sacks.
6. Khalil Mack (6'3", 250lbs.) Linebacker, Oakland Raiders
Not only is Khalil Mack the reigning Defensive Player of The Year he is the best outside linebacker according to PFF. His 95.1 PFF grade and unique
skill set in the Raiders defense sets him apart as an elite player in the NFL. In only three seasons Mack has 30 sacks and will only improve as he enters
his prime. At only 26 years old this freak of nature will be a star in the NFL for years to come.
5. Aaron Rodgers (6'2", 225lbs.) Quarterback, Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers is considered the most talented quarterback currently competing in the NFL. He has a 92.1 PFF rating and mind blowing stats to
back it up. Last season Rodgers threw for 40 touchdowns while only throwing 7 interceptions. He posted a 104.2 quarterback rating and led the
Packers to the NFC Championship Game. At 33 years old Rodgers is primed for another great season in green and gold.

While it is currently unknown whether there will be NFL in 2011, the massive NFL roster is going to need to accommodate the six months of

Many players want more and more money, when the owners just can't afford it. If the NFL is having problems, then one could only assume that
the AFL is going to dunk under pretty soon right? I don't think so. Ticket Sales The NFL had to carry out blackouts because ticket sales were so
poor. The AFL has financial problems in 2008, and they had to file for bankruptcy in 2009. Ticket sales were terribly low, and it's easy to
understand why. The public was busy worrying about paying the bills, and leisure time was, and still is, much rarer with many people working
two jobs. Arena football couldn't pay for as much advertisement as they used to be able to, so no one paid any attention. Now that it is back for the
2010 season, hopefully they will have it easier and will be able to put out more advertisement, increasing ticket sales. Excitement Everyone has
watched an NFL game. Same rules, same monotony. Many prefer to watch college football because of the big upsets and the fast paced, high flying
style it has with so many Spread offenses being run. NFL teams usually just air it up or run the ball, and always play conservatively. The AFL doesn't
allow punting, and players can have a running start before the ball is snapped, which means receivers can be running up to the

Despite slow starts from both Bell and Brown, by their standards through the first two games, it's only a matter of time before they find their
mid–season grooves and return to tormenting opposing defenses. Defensively, the Steelers are young and rapidly improving, which has to be a
welcomed sight for Steelers fans after years of defensive overturn and development. While many team defenses have a strong front seven or
secondary, the Steelers seem to have both. T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward headline a strong pass rush, while Joe Haden has been excellent in
leading the secondary since coming over from the Cleveland Browns. Add in the speed and leadership of Ryan Shazier at the linebacker position, and
the Steelers are suddenly incredibly solid at all three levels of the defense. However, the Steelers certainly aren't invincible, which was evident in their
narrow victory over the hapless Browns in Week 1. Mike Tomlin–led teams have been notorious for playing down to their competition and having their
fair share of problems away from the Terrible Towels at Heinz Field. If the Steelers can pave their way through a favorable schedule and secure
home–field advantage, they unquestionably have the talent to reach the AFC Championship and even get to the Super Bowl. Season prediction: But,

for the first time in franchise history. Dallas went on to finish the year with a record of 10–3–1, the Eastern Conference Championship, and first

The former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo said Jones was like a heroin addict, saying that Jones' heroin was money. Jones retaliated by saying "We
would make the players and teams in this league more money if we were all responsible for our own marketing. The more you grow the pie, the
more you grow the league. People say I'm a maverick and not a team player, but I believe in revenue–sharing. I just think there's more revenue to share
out there" (King 100). On August 3, 1995, Jones announced a deal with Pepsi that allowed that company to become the official supplier of soft
drinks at Texas Stadium; a stadium which Jones owns. The league disagreed because Coke was already the NFL's official soft drink sponsor. But
10 days later, New England Patriot owner Robert Kraft, who owns Foxboro Stadium, unveiled a similar deal with Pepsi; and no one seemed upset
around the league. Jones also signed Deion Sanders last year to a $35 million contract with Dallas. Around the league there was grumbling that Jones
was abusing the salary cap of the NFL. Of course the San Francisco 49ers had done the same thing for the same player a year before. Jones'
contributions and innovations in the areas of marketing, corporate sponsorships, television, stadium management, stadium development and
community service have made a visible imprint on the ever evolving face of professional sports in America.

As An Audience That Enjoys Media Entertainment, We Find
As an audience that enjoys media entertainment, we find ourselves glued to the television every year to see what commercials will appear during the
Super Bowl. Last year 's Super Bowl featured various commercials that target particular audiences requiring a great deal of planning and meticulous
execution. Thus, audiences that enjoy these commercials become part of more than just the game; they are given an opportunity to become part of a
bigger picture by analyzing what message the composer is attempting to persuade to the public. As I reflect on these commercials, I want to understand
what is being communicated to me to persuade me to act to buy a product. To understand the rhetoric analysis of Super Bowl commercials, I will look

By utilizing the "The Blue Link Car Finder" (knmilke, par. 1), the father tracked his vehicle and interjected himself into the picture; interfering with
his daughter 's date and intimidating the young man. From a parent 's perspective, I perceived the message to be about keeping your children out of
harm's way. If Hyundai's commercial is successful, it will entice parents to buy the car so that they will know where their children are and if they are
safe.
For this commercial, the target audience is parents. The Hyundai commercial uses comedy to show parents how a car finder is a great tool for
parents to know the whereabouts of their young teens. It will give them a sense of security when their children are out and about with friends or on
dates. It could also help find the car if it is stolen.
While the message and target audience seem clear, there are a few additional things that you can make assumptions about. At the beginning of the
commercial: the boy's eyes get big as he is looking at the daughter, indicating that he feels like he hit the jackpot; when the father comes from behind
the door, the boy turns his head and says YEP, indicating that he has no respect for the father or where he lives; also, you hear a wolf howl indicating
that the young man is a predator looking for an easy score. An additional assumption that can be made about the wolf howling leads you to believe that

The Importance Of A Fandom Discourse Community
When you apart of this fandom discourse community it is way more than about just representing the team you must know the knowledge to be
credible, feel the emotion and passion for your team whether they win or lose, and have the logic to prove you are a fan of this team. These are all
factors of why this discourse community matters, they all prove how you apart of this community and how people on the outside have come in.
The biggest of them all is the everlasting bonds and friendships you create through this community. These bonds can last lifetimes just over the fact
you guys share the same favorite team which is why you should care about this discourse community. Being a part of this distinct community
related to fandoms of team, it is more than just cheering for the team passionately, it involves knowing the team and showing that you are a true fan. To
be credible as a cowboy's fan and for people to believe you that you are a true cowboys fan you have to at least have cowboys gear. True cowboys fan
have at least a jersey to represent your favorite player, or have cowboy decorations in your house like a flag or a cowboy's towel. Anybody that is a fan
of any type of team you would know exactly what I mean because you have the gear for that team. So that is why being a fan of the Dallas
Cowboys matters because we all have a favorite team who we represent in public, or in private. Another way to be credible is to know specific facts
about this team, for example if someone

loved it when they did. I detest the Cowboys, Duke hoops, ND football, Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Yankees. At
some point I will blog each one of them and rip them to shreds, but back to Dallas. Tony Romo is underrated, there I said it. If he plays in a good

What is the Good Life Essay A popular saying is "live life in the moment." People believe that by doing this, they will live life to their fullest
potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a good theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both
Herodotus, The History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury series by Greg Garber. In both of the texts, the fictional
Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both lived their lives "in the moment," and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to show
what is not the good life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought about the future while they were living their good lives. If
they had thought about the future, and the repercussions that could happen if their way of life was ended, then they may have been able to avoid the
inevitable fall that both of them faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life for a time, and through both of their stories, we can see that to
truly have lived the good life, one must die living it.
While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences between the texts that complement each other, so
by understanding one of the texts more clearly, the other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life. One
of the main differences

Michael Oher was a young homeless boy that was adopted and turned himself around. Childhood for Michael Oher was living in a small home and

Professional football should be made illegal because. . . Americas favorite pastime time sport, is also known to be a killer. Football, at any given age

Wilson will have some competition for his starting job this season but he should still be a lock to be the go to guy for the Seahawks. Look for him to
set the field on fire with a large number of big plays to any of his favorite targets.
Joe Thomas: The Cleveland Browns has a certain gift with Joe Thomas in eight seasons, he has been selected for the Pro Bowl eight times and has not
missed a single snap. This equates to 7,917 snaps that have not been missed. The left tackle looks to improve on his stats this season and hopes to
make it nine seasons and nine Pro Bowl selections. While the Browns team as a unit still need some work, Joe Thomas will be doing his part to help

Many Ravens will likely root for the Denver Broncos to knock off the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. After all, the Broncos are coached by
former Ravens Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak and have a pair of Ravens from last season (tight end Owen Daniels and safety Darian Stewart).
Don't count Ravens outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil among those necessarily pulling for the Broncos, however, even though he used to play for
Denver. Dumervil suited up for the Broncos for six seasons before a fax snafu led to his release, and it seems that he's not thrilled that the team is
playing in the Super Bowl three years later. Dumervil is still close with former Broncos teammate Von Miller, but not so much with the organization.
"Von is like a younger... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along their championship path, the Ravens beat Dumervil and the Broncos in the divisional playoff round. The Ravens were a trendy Super Bowl 50
pick, [comma] but had a rough season and finished 5–11. Dumervil is signed with the Ravens for two more seasons, so there's still a chance of
reaching his first Super Bowl with Baltimore. Wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. is another Ravens veteran still looking for his first Super Bowl ring
who will watch his former team in the big dance. Smith and the Panthers lost to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII at the end of the 2003 season.
Similar to Dumervil, Smith said he's excited for his former friends, and for the city where he still lives. He didn't specifically say he was pulling
for the team, however, after the Panthers and General Manager Dave Gettleman released him after 13 seasons. On last week's "Dan Patrick Show,"
Smith predicted the Panthers will beat the Broncos, but said, "I think it's going to be a better game than people think." "I wouldn't be surprised if [the
Panthers] ran away with it," Smith said. "But the Denver Broncos do have a solid defense and it's going to be interesting to see what kind of game
plan and how effective they will

Professional Athlete Pay vs Essential Careers

  • 1. Athletes Professional Athletes There are many arguments on pay gaps and wage differences between genders different races. However, salaries of professional athletes and every day, essential careers, such as teachers, nurse, and police officers, can become an even bigger controversy because we don't understand why athletes deserve to be paid that much, or we think us, as everyday workers, deserve to get paid more for what we do. There are some valid reasons that contribute to professional athlete's high pay, and our average pay. This has always been an interesting line of inquiry for me because I never understood why playing a sport could make you so famous and rich, but the salary for saving lives didn't even compare. I remember multiple occasions where my dad and I were watching sports, and we landed on the topic of why professional athletes get paid so much. To no surprise, these conversations always ended in frustration for both of us and each of asking, what makes professional athletes so much more important that the rest of us? It is no secret professional athletes have a higher pay than most these days, but how much more? According to Chris Mueller, a sports columnist, the average Chicago Bear's football player made two million dollars in 2011, and the highest paid doctor was paid close to $500,000 (Mueller). This can cause much controversy due to the difference in preparation for the careers. To become a doctor, it takes many more years of education and much more debt. The average medical ... • 2. Green Bay Packers Characteristics The Green Bay Packers are one of the most notable teams in the NFL and all of sports. The four time Super Bowl champions have a few negative qualities, including bad defenses in the past and recent years of unsuccessful playoff runs. However, the negatives do not outweigh the team's powerhouse offense and Super Bowl trophies. The team was founded in 1919 and had very little success until 1929. This is the start of the Green Bay Packers that most people know as "Titletown". From 1929 to present day, the Packers have won 13 championships. That being the most championships won by a single team in NFL history. While the Green Bay Packers are a very successful team, they have had their up's and down's. One of the team's biggest strengths is their powerhouse offense. But the man under center is what makes that powerhouse offense run. That man is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league if not the best. His statistics are unbelievable. He has the highest quarterback rating in NFL history at 103.8, while the second closest is 98.9. He has thrown 300 touchdowns to only 74 interceptions. That being a 4:1 touchdown to interception ratio, also the best in NFL history. One of his most impressive streaks was his success at home. In 2015, he threw an interception at home. The last one he threw at home before that was in 2012. He went three years without throwing an interception at home. Truly a remarkable feat. In 2011, Aaron had one of the best seasons ... • 3. Professional Athletes, Sports Cars, Mansions, And Money When thinking of professional athletes, sports cars, mansions, and money all come to mind. What about after the pros? Most people would say that professional athletes are set for the rest of their lives with everything luxurious. In most cases, athletes are accustomed to the luxurious lifestyle and living for the moment while playing in the pros that they do not think of retirement and no longer receiving salary or comparable salary if securing alternative employment. So if they do not have money put away, whatever they were paid as their last salary is what they have left. They continue spending their money on expensive restaurants, trips, cars, etc. until it is gone and bankruptcy is the only option. According to Sports Illustrated, "in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Owens had amazing talent, his ego disrupted the team on the field and in the locker room. After many seasons with San Francisco, Owens decided to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004 as an unrestricted free agent. Later throughout the season, Owens broke his leg but with a speedy recovery he was able to take his starting role in Super Bowl XXXIX. Even though he made it back in time for the Super Bowl, the Eagles came up short and lost to the New England Patriots. Although Terrell Owens first season with the Eagles went smoothly, his second season was not as good. Unhappy with his contract, critical with the Eagles quarterback, and causing trouble in the locker room, the club released him in 2006. Soon after his release, the Dallas Cowboys picked Owens up for three seasons before dropping him due to his ego off and on the field. Terrell Owens would then go to the Buffalo Bills for the 2009 season and then the Cincinnati Bengals for the 2010 season. As a six–time Pro Bowl selection and being second in league history with 15,934 receiving yards, tied for second with 153 touchdowns, and sixth with 1,078 catches, Terrell Owens did not receive a single offer from an NFL club in 2011. In hopes of gaining attention from NFL scouts, Owens joined the Allen Wranglers Indoor Football League in 2012. Terrell Owens biggest downfall was how he conducted himself off and on the field. Started in the 1922 World Series when rings were given to the members of the winning team, the New York Giants, courtesy companies like Tiffany& Co or Balfour, they have grown in stature and size. They flaunt the team's logo in precious stones like diamonds and rubies and are set in 14 carat white gold. Teams buying their own members have a system of classification with the grandest rings for their top players, and watered down versions for players lower down the rank and team employees. While the first rings had a couple of diamonds, the modern–day version has over 200 diamonds! Valuable Sports Memorabilia It is also considered by fans as valuable sports memorabilia that can be auctioned or sold at will. So, when someone came up with the idea that these fans too should be rewarded with their own championship rings, it was implemented by a few companies who dedicated their time, effort, knowledge, and expertise in making exact replicas of the World series championship rings, as showy, as exuberant, and as 'obnoxiously over the top' as the originals. His talent and size were unmatched and unheard of on his path to greatness. His success on the field, however, doesn't truly reflect his struggled upbringing and scarred past. Organizational Behavior in the Nfl Organizational Behavior in the National Football League Katie Johnston MT3250 Organizational Behavior Dr. Carl Proehl February 4, 2013 Abstract This paper will explore how people within the National Football League (NFL) interact with each other to reach their goals as a team, and an organization as a whole. Sports teams are defined as two or more individuals who possess a common identity, have common goals and objectives, share a common fate, exhibit structured patterns of interaction and modes of communication, hold common perceptions about group structure, are personally and instrumentally interdependent, reciprocate interpersonal attraction and consider themselves to be a group (Group Dynamics, 2004). There are many people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a series of periods that teams go through in making their decisions. The first is the preparation period, where the coaches and players anticipate the actions the opponents intend to perform and the probability of the actions. This early stage process is the one where video observation is used, studying the opponent's strengths, weaknesses, and styles of play. The next decision regards how the team (A) should react, or respond, to the actions of the opposing team (B). Timing and quality must be a factor into team A's next move. If the opposing team (B) changes their plan of action that was anticipated by team A, quick modifications must be made to ensure a successful retaliation. The success of decision making within a team depends on different mechanisms operating simultaneously and in mutual interaction (Decision Making in Sport, 2004). Let's look more in depth at the visual aspect of decision making. Visual information is critical for any team. The visual (spatial) learning system is when a person (i.e. athlete) prefers learning through images, colors, pictures and maps to gather information. Cueing and priming are key features in the sport realm that are integral in visual attention (Decision Making in Sports, 2004). When an athlete is confident of their opponent's next move, their ... Advocates for Brady will point out how no other quarterback in NFL history has been as productive when it matters most and almost no one has been able to beat Father TIme quite like he has. The detractors on the other hand will just emphasise the scandals he has been through and the all around talent level of teams he's been on. Either way, Tom Brady has accomplished what other players can't even fathom. The case for Brady is simple. No other player in NFL history has been to seven Super Bowls and only one other player has won as many (five) as Brady has. Though Charles Haley, a defensive lineman for the Cowboys and 49ers, has... Considering that it is well known that most teams cheat in one way or another, but just don't get caught, it is easy to look past the troubles he's been though. At the same time though, the fact that he did get caught makes it worst. In my opinion, there is no discussion when it comes to best ever. Going into his fifth, and possibly NOT final Super Bowl, Brady was considered to be the best, yet still had major competition with Joe Montana. Montana, who won four championships, never lost one, unlike Brady. The thing that puts Brady over the top for me, cementing him as greatest of all time, is the fact that he was able to come back from an unprecedented 25 point deficit in the game's biggest stage. When it comes to sports there are never finite answers to these type of questions, but with Brady playing at the level he is going into his 40's there is no telling what he can still do in his career. Garett Miller IUF 1000 section 234H Pokhrel 27 October, 2015 What is the Good Life Essay A popular saying is "live life in the moment." People believe that by doing this, they will live life to their fullest potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a good theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both Herodotus, The History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury series by Greg Garber. In both of the texts, the fictional Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both lived their lives "in the moment," and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to show what is not the good life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought about the future while they were living their good lives. If they had thought about the future, and the repercussions that could happen if their way of life was ended, then they may have been able to avoid the inevitable fall that both of them faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life for a time, and through both of their stories, we can see that to truly have lived the good life, one must die living it. While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences between the texts that complement each other, so by understanding one of the texts more clearly, the other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life.
