that in 2008, U.S. employees spent 2.8
hours per week dealing with conflict.
This amounts to approximately $359
billion in paid hours, or the equivalent
of 385 million working days. Similar
research studies have been done in
Europe with comparable results.
60-80 percent of all difficulties in
organizations come from strained
relationships among employees.
Unresolved conflicts lead to at least
50% of resignations.
The typical manager spends 25-40
percent of her time dealing with
workplace conflicts. All these
consequences induce a tremendous
loss in productivity.
Conflict in the workplace is a fact

Similar research studies have been done in Europe with comparable results. 60-80 percent of all difficulties in organizations come from strained relationships among employees. Unresolved conflicts lead to at least 50% of resignations. The typical manager spends 25-40 percent of her time dealing with workplace conflicts. All these consequences induce a tremendous loss in productivity. Conflict in the workplace is a fact of life and is usually regarded as being counterproductive.
