2. My name is Martinel Ursu and I come from
Romania, a picturesque country from the
South-East of Central Europe. My hometown
is Sibiu, also called Hermannstadt by the
Saxon colonists, with a historical background
of over 800 years.
3. The city of Sibiu and its soroundings represent
one of the most interesting touristic place
because it combines the medieval ambiance with
a cosmopolitan one. In 2007 Sibiu was declared
EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE, along
with Luxemburg

Sibiu is
situated in the
centre of
Romania and
in the core of
Transylvania
region, which is
the legendary
land of Count
Dracula.
7. SHORT GEOGRAPHICAL
PRESENTATION
The city of Sibiu lies near the Carpathian
Mountains, also called “The Alps of Transylvania”, with steep
slopes covered with snow in winter and green forests in
summer, where the brown Carpathian bear finds the most
favorable shelter.
8. The city of Sibiu in near
Paltinis, the highest mountain resort in
the country, a popular destination in
winter for skiing and in summer for its
peacefulness and fresh air.
The climate of Sibiu is
moderate continental temperate, with
minus degrees in winter and hot
summers.
9. Another tourist attraction in
the Sibiu county is the Ice
Hotel in the Carpathians, at
Balea Lake resort, the first ice
hotel from Eastern Europe.

It will continue with a wonderful
journey through Europe, the
adventure of discovering the world I
live in. That is going to fulfill my life
experience, my intercultural
relationships, to broaden my
horizons.
