2. Objectives
Structural and Geometric Design
Intersection design & Improvement
Decision for importance of road and fixing priority
Inspection of existing service condition
Measurement the effectiveness of Traffic Control
Planning for improvement of existing condition
Economic feasibility study
3. Method of Counting
Three Methods are followed to count Traffic Volume
1. Manual Counting Method
Direct Method
Indirect Method
2. Automatic Counting Method
Photo electric cell method
Electrical method
3. Moving Vehicle Method

8. Vehicle composition of traffic stream shows –
Most of the vehicle is light vehicle, it is 64% & reason behind is
volume study area associated with Commercial and Residential
area.
Percentage of Bus is low. To develop the existing traffic condition it
is suggested that if number of bus is increased by users, traffic
congestion may be reduced efficiently.
As the light vehicle specially car composition is higher, it is said
that most of the rich people travel this roadway.
9. Service Flow Rate
The equivalent hourly rate at which vehicles pass over a given
time interval less than 1 hour.
Significance
Find out peak hour flow.
Calculate directional distribution.
Improvement of existing Road Capacity.

11. Directional Distribution
Percentage of Traffic flow in each direction.
Helps to improvement of roadway facility.
From Our Directional Distribution Analysis
Panthapath to Russel Square = 55%
Russel Square to Panthapath = 45%
12. Average Daily Traffic
Volume during given time period (greater that 1 day) divided by
number of days in that period.
