2. ProjectSummary
Wearepleasedandexcitedtopromoteanew initiative,EU-
GANGS,whichinvolvesarangeofEuropean organisations
working hand in hand to develop the education and
knowledgeofallthoseprofessionalswhoworkwithinthegang
culture.Gangsareprevalentinmostlargecities.
Forprofessionalslikeyouthworkers,teachers,policeand
probation officers,workingwithgangsandgangmembersis
partoftheirjob;forotherslikestaffinlocalgovernment,
socialsecurity and the health service,gangs and their
memberscanaffecttheirworknegatively.Yetcurrentlythere
is no vocational/professionaltraining programme which
providestheknowledge,skillsandcompetencesrequiredfor
anyanyworkersintheprivatepublicorNGOsectorstodealwith
gangsandtheresultingcriminality.
EUGANGS bringstogetherprofessionalsfrom 5 countries
toresearch,developandaccreditatnationallevelineach
country a new vocational / professionalqualification
whichmeetsthecurrentgap/omissioninskills.Itwillbenefit
currentandfuture professionalsworkingwithorlikelyto
workinagangcultureorenvironment.EUGANGSunderpins
thisprogrammeby developinganew“trainingthetrainers”
prprogramme supportedwithatrainer’sguideandresources
toenablethosewithexperienceofworkinginthisfieldtobe
formallyaccreditedandbecometrainers.Learningwillbe
offeredflexiblyonamodularapproachandalsodeliveredand
supportedbye-learning.

ProjectAims
Toredresscurrentskillsmismatchandomissions;to provide
astudyprogrammeand qualificationforworkerswhoare
affectedbygangsandgangcrime.
Projectobjectives
•P•Produce currentand appropriate work profilesforthose
workingwithgangsandtheimpactofgangcrimeincommuni-
tiesacrossEurope.
• Identify appropriate learning outcomes forthese job
roles.
•Identifyineachpartnercountrythesectors,organisations
andjobrolesforthosewhoworkwithingangcrimeandits
impact(police,probation,youthwork,healthandsocialser-
vices,educationandcommunities).
•Identifythroughresearchineachpartnercountrytheknowl-
edgeandskillsthatarerequiredtodevelopthecapacityofthe
workforce and ensure more successfulengagementwith
gangsandgangmembers,inordertoreducegangcrimeinthe
future.
•Identifycommonlearning outcomesagreed atEuropean
level.
•Developanew andinnovativeVETprogrammeforthose
alreadyworkingin,andnewto,thisfield.

4. Wewill •Developanddeliveranew trainingprogrammeto5expert
trainers(onefromeachcountry)inJuly2014.
•Trainaminimum of5trainersineachcountrytodeliverthe
programme.
•Acc•Accreditthetrainingtrainerprogrammeandthenew VET
programmeatnationallevelandseektoinsertontoECVET
•PilottheVETtrainingprogrammewithatleast10learnersin
eachcountry.
•Reviewandadaptthetrainingprogrammetoimprovedelivery
andcontent.
•N•Negotiate with mainstream training providers to inte-
gratethenewlearningoutcomesintheirprogrammesforthe
sectors.
•Developflexible/onlinedeliveryoftheprogramme,tosupport
morelearners.
•HoldafinalshowcaseeventinBrusselsinApril2016.

5. Results
•New trainingtrainerprogrammeembeddingtheknowledge
and skillsinto mainstream training provision (formal,non
formal,informal)toenablethem totrainthoseworkinginthis
field.
•the•thecreationofsaferandmorecohesivecommunities,byem-
poweringthoseworkingwithgangsandtheresultsofgang
crimetodosomoreeffectivelyandsafely.
•Newvocationaltrainingprogrammewhichprovidestheskills,
knowledgeandcompetencesneededbyallthoseworking
withgangsandgangcrime.
•Vocationalprogrammerelevantforallthoseworking(paidor
unpaid)withgangsandgangmembers,butalsoforgang
membersthemselves,inordertomeettheidentifedgapsin
knowledgeandskills.
