Just wanted to say a huge thanks to my committee who give up endless hours to help with the smooth running of the club. For those of you know don’t know, we meet every month for around 2 hours (sometimes longer) and have some very productive & sometimes heated meetings.
I also wanted to say a thanks to:
So ……its been a very busy year and to summarise I have wrapped up all our achievement into 4 points:Number 1 – Club….Clubmark – a huge thanks to Phil & Lulu for their support on this.Clubhouse – New electrics, new kitchen roof, new door to clubhouseTeamed up with Gweek sliver band who now have a container on our grounds which provides the club with a small income
So in the club we currently have: 212 members, 35 cadet & junior with 127 adults actively rowing:Very interesting to see the split between competitive rowers & Leisurely at 50% which is a great balance
SupervetsFinalMen’s : 1st Helford A,, 5th Helford B, Mixed : 1st Falmouth, 2nd Helford, VeteransFinalLadies : 1st Mounts Bay, 2nd Newquay, 3rd Ilfracombe, 4th Helford, 5th Torridge, 6th Caradon.Men’s : 1st Flushing & Mylor, 2nd Caradon, 3rd Mounts Bay, 4th Ilfracombe, 5th Weymouth, 6th Portland.Mixed : 1st Flushing & Mylor, 2nd Caradon, 3rd Ilfracombe, 4th Flushing & Mylor B, 5th Helford, 6th Portland.ScilliesBoth ladies A & B in the top 30
To aid and support the competitive part of the club, this year we have teamed up with……
We are the only club to run 3 eventsThese events are getting increasingly popular and more well known. We have already received enquires from 3 clubs asking when Mini Scillies is happening!
The Great London River Race Rowers raised a total of £1560.00 which was split equally between Constantine Pre School and Primary School.School is putting it towards a new play house for the outdoor learning environment – huge well done to Cags and her crewAward went to the nativity crew
Jane - huge thanks
We have improved our communication this year in a number of ways, a big thanks to Gavin for setting this up and for adding more and more info throughout the yearSurvey monkey – quick to use, development plan & boat nameSocial media – promoting the club, keeping up to date with other clubs including members. We used it this year for cancelling our summer event. Chairmans report – not sure if anyone has read them, but I have been trying to keep the club up to date with what’s been happening (in a very light hearted way) 15% decrease in email traffic in the last 6 months compared to last year
We agreed last year on our club development plan, but feel its important to re-visit this annually to ensure it still fits the need of the clubNew gig – this is underway and we are currently in discussion with a boat builder
WebsiteChloe & Lulu will be working together – this will allow updates without endless emailsSocial media – Increase the club presence, easier communication within the club and other clubsWebsite in general – we realise there has been a huge amount of work in moving to new processes and we appreciate everyones support in the changesMaintenanceAndy is now our co-ordinator and is responsible for assigning jobs to individuals (many hands make light work) we will be looking for people to take on tasks like – seats, stretchers, pins, oars and boats
The selectors will nominate a handful of events that you can “self select” this is to encourage “fun” and support local events
Volunteers needed for towing
Our three rowing events throughout the year require a huge amount of support.Any support you can give personally, if everyone could give an hour per month this would help or skills that can be utilisedWe reviewed the membership fees this year and benchmarked this against other clubs, it was decided to keep fees as they are as we rely on the members support.Committee support – we are going to try and provide clear instruction – for example we require 3 people for half an hour on Wednesday night.
