The Patna Extension Centre of Birla Institute of Technology was established in 2006, as
a result of an initiative from the Govt. of Bihar. Since then it has been growing
continously and establishing academic landmarks.
The Patna Campus of the institute is first-of-its-kind,dedicated fully to the course of
Engineering & Technology. The institute is in well resonance with the main campus at
Mesra Ranchi.
There is a regular exchange of resources between the two campuses of BIT. All the
departments and units are centrally coordinated by those at Mesra Main Campus and are
an integral part of it.
From the very first day classes were carried out in BIT Patna’s own campus, equipped
with all necessary facilities and in an easily reachable locations. There are at present
seven Academic Departments at the Patna Extension Centre of BIT.
3. TECHNIKA
Technika is the annual festival of Birla Institute of Technology, Patna
It celebrates excellence in the fields of engineering and management.
Since 2009, Technika has promoted scientific temper, creative thinking and innovation.
A well-known festival in the college fest circuit, Technika draws enthusiastic participation from
various colleges of the country every year since its inception.
It sees over a thousand participations each year from students throughout the country.
Both International and national bands have performed during Technika
Technika expects to see even more enthusiasm from students this year.
4. CSR EVENTS DURING TECHNIKA
Though being a students' fest, we do care about our social responsibilities and that's why we
stress upon the CSR Events in Technika every year.
This year CSR aims at following few specific areas
Working towards the cause of "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan".
1. Contribution whatsoever for preselected orphanages.
2. Donate a dustbin campaign.
3. An anti tobacco drive in college and near by areas.
4. An women empowerment summit named "NARI SHAKTI".
5. Orphanage: The Indian Context
There are an estimated 21 million destitute and orphaned children in India. While a small
percentage of children become orphans due to the death of one or both parents, a large
majority are abandoned due to extreme poverty.
While adoption is a viable option for children below 6 years, approximately only 6500 adoptions
take place in the country annually. Of the millions of children who remain unadopted many live
in sub standard living conditions with limited access to proper hygiene, nutrition, educational
and medical support.
It were the poorer states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal, which had higher
number of orphan children as compared to richer northern and southern states of India.
There has been shown differences in nutrition related problems such as Protein Energy
Malnutrition ( PEM ), Vitamin A and B Complex deficiencies, iron deficiency anemia and iodine
deficiency disorders between children who are living with their families and children who are
living in orphanages.

8. DONATE A DUSTBIN
This is what we have named our pilot project towards creating a cleaner city, "Donate a
Dustbin".
This, as the name suggests, is a simple campaign where we request individuals, families,
societies, corporates to donate a dustbin in the locality of their choice
They would be free to install these dustbins for public access anywhere they want in the city.
An alternate way would be contacting us to work in lieu of you. The details of our procedure are
discussed later.
9. WHY A DUSTBIN?
With 153 micrograms Delhi is at the top while Patna with 149 micrograms is the second.
According to a WHO report these figures are six times what it considers a ‘safe’ limit––
which is 25 micrograms.
No one expects a person to literally search for a dustbin, with waste in his hand.
Prime city locations viz. markets , hospitals & parks are rather not equipped in this
context.
Despite efforts of Patna Municipal Corporation, the waste management system here is
inefficient.
Having a dustbin in place would mentally emphasize people on having a cleaner Patna
as well as making it easy for the PMC.
10. OUR RESPONSIBILITY
We , the students of BIT Patna, offer to share this responsibility of yours, if you lack in anything
ranging from effort to time.
We will receive dustbin(s) or cash/kind for the dustbins and place it in accordance to our
location priorities.
Our location priorities are:
1. Hospitals
2. Prime Market Places
3. Places of Public Interest
We will make sure that the dustbins acknowledge the contributing organisation.
11. WHAT'S IN FOR YOU?
This is an effective way to advertise your organization, along with earning some good respect
points from the public.
This will count as one of your CSR activities, as it is expected to do some at local levels.

A step towards "Swachh Bharat".
The best thing, SATISFACTION for contributing towards a Cleaner Patna.
12. Tobacco Menace in India
India has the dubious distinction of harboring the world’s largest number of oral cancer
patients with an annual age standardized incidence of 12.5 per 100,000, and oral cancer
amounts to 9.4 percent of all cancers in India.
Historically, this has been attributed to widespread usage of smokeless tobacco, and for
this reason a great emphasis is being laid by the government and nongovernment
organizations towards effective tobacco control.
Over last several decades, billions of rupees have been spent for this purpose. Despite
all efforts of tobacco control, oral cancer that is an uncommon disease in the west
continues to be the major cause of cancer related death in India.
The main form of smokeless tobacco which is sold in India is ‘gutka’ and ‘pan masala’
with tobacco.
13. Anti-Tobacco Awareness Drive
