2. No such measurement as “Lie-1, etc.”
•You’ve heard people say the phrase, “little white
lies”, yes?
•There is no biblical difference, whether ‘big’ or
‘small’– a lie, or omission of truth, is a LIE
•Here’s what Jesus said about Satan lying—
•“…there is no truth in him. When he lies, he
speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the
father of all lies.” John 8:44, NIV
3. No such measurement as “Lie-1, etc.”
•So– whether lying about…
•Your great accomplishments
•Or something you did or didn’t do
•Or falsely blaming someone else
•Or pretending to be on one side of a dispute when
you are on the other to please your listener…
•There is Shame Scale of 1-10, they are from Hell
4. PETER said to Ananias, “…Satan has so filled
your heart that you have lied to the Holy
Spirit…”
Acts 5:13(b) NIV
5. Trust is everything!
•Developing a lifestyle of truthful
behavior is not easy for everyone– My
Dad had issues there for sure!
•The quality of every relationship we
have– especially family– is based on
those three words above
•Trust is everything
•Let’s look at the Scripture for today
6. “8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger,
wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech
from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another,
since you laid aside the old self with its evil
practices, 10 and have put on the new self who is
being renewed to a true knowledge according
to the image of the One who created him…”
Colossians 3:8-10, NASB
7. “…but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up
in all aspects into Him who is the head, even
Christ…”
“25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH
EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are
members of one another.”
Ephesians 4:15,25
10. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.
Psalm 139:23-24, NASB
14. Third…
•Put on Truth!
“Therefore, laying aside falsehood,
SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH
HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one
another.”
Ephesians 4:25
18. Fourth…
•Learn to Listen
more than you Talk!
“Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let
everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful
listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen
words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective,
forgiving]...”
James 1:19, AMP
20. “15 …but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow
up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even
Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, being fitted
and held together by what every joint supplies,
according to the proper working of each individual
part, causes the growth of the body for the building
up of itself in love.”
Ephesians 4:15-16, NASB
21. Finally…
•Learn to speak the truth in
love
•Memorize this verse.
“…let us pursue the things
which make for peace and
the building up of one
another.” Romans 14:19
