Next Monday, February 19, is “President’s Day”—a
great day to…
…Pray for our
Country!!
Perhaps you’re
thinking:
“Wait a minute! I thought that the First
Family voted unanimously years ago that
we would continue to be a ‘Politics-free
Zone’—in other words, that we would not
be doin’ politickin’ here at the Church!!
Has that changed??”
No!—but please
read this
scripture passage:
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all
people. As you make your requests, plead
for God's mercy upon them, and give
thanks. 2 Pray this way for kings and all
others who are in authority, so that we can
live in peace and quietness, in godliness
and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God
our Savior…” (1 Timothy 2:1-3 NLT)
“But we don’t have a ‘King’!”
The phrase “all others who are in
authority” includes every politician in our
country—whether you like ‘em or not!
The idea is to pray for each of them so
that every decision they make will be
pleasing to God!
“You sure know how to make a person
think! I’m gonna have to start spendin’
more time in prayer!
Please don’t forget these special
events
that you have to look forward to:
On Sunday, April 1, 2018, we will
celebrate Easter Sunday with a full schedule of
services (8:30AM, 11:00AM and 6:30PM). Our
choir will be singing at the two morning
gatherings (in addition to messages by Pastor
Charles and Pastor Paul)—the title of the music
is “Then Came the Morning.”
On Sunday, May 13, 2018, we’ll have
“Women’s Sunday” (also called “Mother’s
Day”)—a day of celebrating God’s creation of
Womanhood!
On Sunday, June 17, 2018, we’ll enjoy
“Men’s Sunday” (also called “Father’s Day”)—a
day of celebrating God’s creation of Manhood!
And on Sunday, August 12, we will
celebrate our Church Birthday—74 years of
existence as the First Southern Baptist
Church of North Hollywood!
We are one in the Spirit, We are one in the Lord,
We are one in the Spirit, We are one in the Lord
And we pray that all unity May one day be restored.
2. Chorus:
And they'll know we are Christians By our love by our love,
Yes they'll know we are Christians , By our love
All praise to the Father From whom all things come
And all praise to Christ Jesus His only Son,
And all praise to The Spirit who makes us one. (Chorus)
First of all, then, I urge that petitions (specific requests),
prayers, intercessions (prayers for others) and
thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all people, 2
for
[a]
kings and all who are in [positions of] high authority, so
that we may live a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness
and dignity.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 AMP
3. “Lord’s Supper
Meditation”
By Deacon Chairman Curtis Keith
On Sunday, February 4, 2018
For the last few years since I have
been a Deacon in the First Family, I’ve
written some things on or about The Lord’s
Supper. Deacons were to open each time we
shared the Bread and Cup with a statement
about the Lord’s Supper.
PART ONE:
We all know that the Lord’s Supper
was the best meal Jesus had here on Earth
before He (Jesus) went to the Cross for us and
“The whole world” as the Lamb of God for
our sins once and for all. And that pleased our
God, the Father. Several vital truths are
brought out in Hebrews 9:22-28 (“It is
written…”)
For example, v.22 tells us that the Law
requires that nearly everything is to be
cleansed with blood, and without the shedding
of blood, there is no forgiveness.
Verse 23 says that it was necessary
then for the copies of the heavenly things to
be purified with these sacrifices, but the
heavenly things were better than these copies.
In v.24 we learn that Christ did not enter a
man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of
the true one; He entered heaven itself, now to
appear for us in God’s presence.
Nor did He enter heaven to offer
himself again and again, the way the high
entered the Most Holy Place every with blood
that was not his own (v.25). Then Christ
would have had to suffer many times since He
has appeared once for all at the end of the
ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of
Himself (v.26).
Just as man is destined to die once, and
after that to face judgment (v.27), so Christ
was sacrificed once to take away the sins of
many people and He will appear a second
time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to
those who are waiting for Him (v.28).
PART TWO:
I am calling this love, trust and believe,
and faith in all the teaching we who say we
are Christians, we love God the Father, Jesus
Christ who is the Son of God, and is God who
brought Salvation as our Savior from sin and
saved us from Hell, and we are called the
Children of God, who gave us the Holy Spirit
as our Counselor when He, Jesus went back to
the Father after His Resurrection.
“Faith in the Son of God” in 1 John 5:1-2:1
This chapter of the book of First John is
the last chapter. It tells us about Faith, Love
for God the Father and Jesus and how each
believer in the Son of God should have this
testimony in his or her own heart.
It tells us how we know that we Love
God by loving and believing that Jesus is The
Christ and is Born of God. It is written
(Verses 4 through 10) that everyone born of
God overcomes the world. This is the victory
that has overcome the world, even our faith.
Who is it that overcomes world? Only he who
believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
In Verses 6 through 9 in 1 John 5:
This is the one who came by water and
blood—Jesus Christ. And it is the Spirit who
testifies, because the Spirit is the Truth. For
there are Three that Testify: The Spirit, the
water and the blood; and these three are in
agreement—but God’s testimony is greater
because it is the testimony of God, which He
has given to us about His Son.
Concluding Remarks: Verses 13-15:
Anyone who believes in the Name of
the Son of God will know and will have
Eternal Life (v.14). This is the confidence we
have in approaching God: That, if we ask
anything according to His will, He hears us
(v.15). And if we know that He hears us—
whatever we ask—we know that we have
what we asked of Him.
