The document is a newsletter from the First Southern Baptist Church of North Hollywood announcing their Easter Sunday services on April 16th and providing suggestions for members to invite others, including making lists of people to pray for and finding creative ways to invite them. It also lists upcoming birthdays and anniversaries for members and provides an update from the interim pastor on his prostate cancer being reduced to less than one from over 1000 previously through medical treatment and prayers.

Paul D. Whetstone (Interim Senior Pastor) March 28, 2017 Charles Cutney (Minister of Encouragement)
âResurrection Dayâ (a.k.a.âEasterâ)
will take place on Sunday,
April 16, this yearâwhat a DAY!
Youâve got three weeksâbut
the time to begin your
planning for this wonderful
Day of Celebration is NOW!
Here are some suggestions:
1. Pray every day that the Holy
Spirit will make this Resurrection
Day (âEasterâ) the best one weâve
ever had!
2. Make a list of unsaved and/or
unchurched people whom you
know.
3. Pray every day for each person
who is on your list.
4. Find some encouraging, creative
ways to invite those folks to attend
with you.
5. In addition, pray for everyone
who will be preaching or singing or
teaching, etc., on Resurrection Day.
James 1:1-3 (NASB)
1
James, a bond-servant of God and of the
Lord Jesus Christ,
To the twelve tribes who are dispersed
abroad: Greetings.
2
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you
encounter various trials, 3
knowing that the
testing of your faith produces endurance.

2. âWhat the
World Needs
Now isâŚâ--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#7 in a series of articles focusing on
the church as a âHealing Place.â
Well, weâve come âfull circleâ in our
series. We began in #1 with the chorus of the song
âWhat the World Needs Nowâ by Hal David and
Burt Bacharach. Letâs share it one more time:
âWhat the world needs now is love, sweet love.
Itâs the only thing that thereâs just too little of.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No, not just for some, but for evâryone.â
I also said that God had clearly,
unmistakably, told me that LOVE is the most
important thing in anyoneâs life! And guess what?
Would you believe that God has used my
Prostate Cancer experience to deepen my loveâ
my love for Him, my love for my family, my love
for fellow-believers, and yes, even my love for my
enemies!!
âI get it, Pastor Chuckâwouldnât you say
that youâre gettingâ close to beinâ PERFECT, now
that Godâs layinâ all that LOVE on ya??!!â
Listen, BrotherâI said that He had
deepened my love, not made it perfect! In factâ
in spite of everything that God has done to bless and
mature me since Kaiser discovered my Stage Four
Cancer in the fall of 2015, I still mess up.
For example, I am writing this article on
Saturday Evening, March 25 (2017). I have been
hospital-visiting, phone counseling, studying the
Word, and I began my early-morning Prayer Time
at about 4:30AM.
âSounds pretty ârighteousâ to me, Preacher
Chuck!â
Donât let it fool you! In spite of those things
I mentioned, I still disobeyed the Lord by speaking
harshly to my precious Wife this afternoon!
You know, I am really enjoying studying
once again through Rick Warrenâs book, âThe
Purpose-Driven Lifeââand one of the reasons for
my enjoyment is his extremely wise perspective on
the issue of our spiritual growth. He makes it
abundantly clear that we will NEVER be
completely mature as long as we live here on the
earthâso please donât break your arm patting
yourself on the backâwait âtil GOD rewards you
for your faithfulness!
âOK, OKâdonât get all huffy with me like
you did with Sandra Dee! Just answer one question
about your cancer: How much longer have you got
to live? The reason Iâm askinâ is that several
months ago you told us that your Kaiser doctor said
that it looked like you werenât going to be around
very long. Is that still facinâ you?
Iâve got some good news, Brother.
âUh-ohâwhat didja doâŚsend some money
to one of those TV Dudes, and he healed you of your
cancer?â
Careful thereâGod still works miracles.
Never forget that!
âWell was I rightâor not??â
Let me wind up our booklet by telling you
what has happened to my Stage Four cancer. First
of all, the original âP.S.A. Blood Testâ that they
gave me in the fall of 2015 came back with a rating
of over 1,000! The rule for P.S.A.âs is âThe higher
they register, the more dangerous they are!â This is
why Dr. Le told me sadly that if I had anything that
I had always wanted to do in my life, I should do
them ASAP, because âI wasnât long for this worldâ!
In the months following this warningâas I
mentioned earlier in this series of articlesâI went
through several sessions of chemotherapy and other
treatments at Kaiserâs Panorama City facility.
Thank God for their skill and determination!
But at the same time, word of my illness
began to spread among a whole bunch of folks in
our church, and among other believers, both here in
California, and in a number of other states as well.
Thank God for their love and intercession!
The result is that when I had my last P.S.A.
Test a few weeks ago, it came back with a rating of
(get this!!) LESS THAN ONE!!!!
Thank God for His power, love and mercy!
So Iâm still preaching every Sunday morning,
teaching every Wednesday evening, doing a lot of
âassistant Pastor stuff,â driving our Toyota, and
getting a good nightâs rest every dayâall because
of Kaiserâs treatment and your faithful prayers!
