2. “Eternal Life
With Jesus”
May 7, 2017, Lord’s Supper Meditation
By Deacon Chairman Curtis Keith
Today we come together in
remembrance of what our Lord Jesus Christ has
done for us, and why He had to die for us.
First of all, we cannot save ourselves!
We needed a savior like no other, and our God
gave us one like no other—His Son. “The Son
of God, Jesus our Lord and Christ” was and is
our only Savior.
Jesus paid our debt for all the sins that
mankind committed since the beginning in the
Garden of Eden—where Adam and Eve’s eyes
were opened to what they had done, after what
the Lord God had commanded Adam, the man,
not to do.
We now know that disobedience to God
is Sin. And we know that sin leads to
ETERNAL DEATH without God’s
forgiveness—and so, since we cannot save
ourselves, God the Father, who made man, and
the World with all that is in it, did not send His
Son into the world to condemn the world, but to
save the World through Him. Whoever believes
in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not
believe stands condemned already, because he
has not believed in the Name of God’s one and
only Son. (See John 3:17-18.)
So Jesus paid the debt we owed, and
brought us ETERNAL LIFE with Him and God
the Father. There was no other way for us to
have that debt paid. Jesus alone had to die for
the sins of mankind! Always remember Jesus
told us, when you do the Lord’s Supper,
remember My Body which was broken for you,
and My Blood is My New Covenant for you—
so you will know your sins are paid for when
you ask for the forgiveness of your sins, and
believe in Me, as it is written in John 3:16:
“For God so loved the World that He gave His
one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
If you have not yet asked Jesus, God’s
one and only Son, to come into your life and
help you overcome the sin you have in your
life—and know that your sins are forgiven—it’s
not too late! Pray and repent of your sins, and
turn from your sins, and invite Jesus to come
into your life as Savior and Lord today!

The following are two quotes from
“Grace for the Moment” by Max Lucado:
“You Were in His Prayers
‘Then Jesus went about a stone’s throw away
from them. He kneeled down and prayed’—
Luke 22:41
The final prayer of Jesus was about you.
His final pain was for you. His final passion
was for you. Before he went to the cross, Jesus
went to the garden. And when He spoke with his
Father, you were in His prayers…
And God couldn’t turn His back on you.
He couldn’t because He saw you, and one look
at you was all it took to convince Him. Right
there, in the middle of a world which isn’t fair.
He saw you cast into a river of life you didn’t
request. He saw you betrayed by those you love.
On the eve of the Cross, Jesus made His
decision. He would rather go to Hell for you
than to go to Heaven without you.

‘The Debt Is Paid’
‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they
can be as white as snow. Though your sins are
deep red, they can be white like wool.’—Isaiah
1:18
When Jesus told us to pray for
forgiveness of our debts as we forgive our
debtors, He knew who would be the one to pay
the debt. As He would hang on the Cross He
would say, ‘It is finished’—the debt is paid!
There are some facts that will never
change. One fact is that you are forgiven. If you
are in Christ, when He sees you, your sins are
covered—He doesn’t see them. He sees you
better than you see yourself.
And that is a glorious fact of your life.”
