2. The beginning
I made the decision to volunteer in May
2021. At that time, I was in the last year of
my studies and I was looking for
something that I could do after
graduation. I learned about EVS from a
friend who also decided to take part, so
together we sent our CV and together in
October of the same year we flew to
Lisbon to start our adventure. My closest family was with me at the airport, including my little
nephew, who was the most difficult for me to say goodbye to.
3. About the project
My project Rethink, Reshape and Awake the Community in Lisboa was organized
by ProAtlântico - Associação Juvenil as part of the European Solidarity Corps.
The sending organization from Poland was Fundacja Rozwoju Społeczeństwa
Przedsiębiorczego.
4. About the project
During the project, I worked in a kindergarten which
belongs to the Casa Pia de Lisboa organization. The
school was located in the center of Lisbon, thanks to
which I had the opportunity to explore the city.
5. About the project
The group I worked in consisted of students between the ages of 3 and 6. My
duties included taking care of children, playing with them, but also helping
with the distribution of meals.
7. More than volunteering
This project was more than just a volunteer job. First of all, it was an
opportunity to meet new people and their cultures. Among my friends there
were people from Spain, Turkey, Romania, Estonia, Italy and many other
European countries.
8. New opportunities
During the project, I also had the opportunity to travel. Within a few months I
visited Italy, Madeira, Tenerife and I managed to fulfill my dream, which is to
visit New York.
