2. Me..and my family
I was born in Seville (Spain) in 1987, I am 29 years old. My mother’s family is
large, she has 5 sisters and 3 brothers, and I have 20 cousins in this part of
my family. We are lucky because we have a very beautiful country to join us
from my grandparents. My father’s family is small, he has only one brother
but many cousins.
My mother’s name is Chelo, she studied primary education but she did not
work like teacher. She is an artist, she was a very good fashion designer. And
later she began to paint and take photos.
My father’s name is Alejandro, he is pharmacist. He likes sports and he has a
lot of cups from diferents sport competitions.
I have one brother one year and a half younger than me, his name is Genaro.
4. Me and my studies
I studied in a christian jesuit school . They always show us the social problems in the world, and what was
happening in others parts signaling unjust situation about the poverty and inequality.
We usually knowed about solidarity campaigns. When I was 16 years old, I participate with them in some
volunteers camps in summer.
I have always been close to four of my cousins who are more or less my same age. They are Teresa, Ana
and Chelo. When I finished school, I went to study in another city with them. Salamanca. There I met very
good friends in the psychology career. Although after two years I decided to change from career to social
work. Then I returned to Seville and did internship at a young offender center. It was a nice experience but
difficult, especially emotionally because I realized the difficulty of their lives and how the world is so unfair.
When I finished, I went to study English in London for a while and worked as a waitress for some time. I
was also in Bormouth and Coventry only studying English and living in houses of English families.
5. me..and my vocation...
Before leaving, I had been participating in the political demonstrations ( 15 M) and when I returned, I was
involved in the environment in my country of a part of the population who was looking for a fairer world
and began to move to change the situation. Arranging assemblies in which I began to participate actively. I
also took a course to become a Spanish teacher in this year. After that, I decided to study a master's
degree in human rights to find answers about the world and to know better the current situation. The final
thesis, I did on democracy in Spain by relating it to the new party that is born thanks to the impulse of the
critical citizenship that craves a quality democracy.
The following year I studied secondary teaching to be a teacher. I think it is a good job to change the
world. I like education and that is why I wanted to do a volunteer related to teaching. Also since I was little
I have liked children very much.
6. Why did I want to a volunteer?
As you have already seen in my short personal summary, I like education, and since I was little I always
wanted to volunteer. I also believe it is a positive experience in which other people are known, culture and
learn new things.
This summer I was watching projects because besides being something I wanted to do, I was in a good
time to do it. In addition, I did not have work and later maybe my circumstances would have changed. It is
also a work experience that is valued a lot to work after and as I want to be a teacher is good for my future
career as well.
I did not choose Poland for anything in particular, although I was in Krakow with my friends and I liked it a
lot.
I applied for the project because it was a school and I like children.
