- It is important for trainers to learn strategies for developing rapport and harmony within a group.
- Skills can be developed that provide opportunities for interaction. These include encouraging open group discussion and allowing all individuals to have the opportunity to contribute without pressure.
- Opportunities for interaction can also involve: - Small group discussions - Case studies - And team learning games
- Skills can be developed to provide opportunities for individuals to communicate on a personal level.
- Some strategies for personal level contributions include individual introductions or view expressions, discussion of light subjects, and socialisation over morning tea or lunch. Responding positively to contributions makes these types of activities worth while in the learning sessions.
- Some of the ways to offer positive responses is through acknowledgement and reward systems. Trainers must be careful not to be over the top with praise or give it inequitably.
- Icebreakers are a handy tool designed to help trainers, facilitators, and participants get comfortable with each other. Many ice breakers are available online.
