Each society at each point in history has its own law of populations that determines the consequences of population growth. According to sociologists, Bellah et al. in Habits of the Heart (2007) and social commentator E.J. Dionne (2012) in Our Divided Political Heart, there are two strains in U.S. history and the underlying set of values that are important to us as member of that society – individualism and communitarianism. Both have shaped our values and sense of who we are as Americans.
On the one hand, we are individualistic - intent in meeting our individual needs and pursuing our individual instrumental (material success) and expressive (personal non-material happiness) needs and goals.
On the other hand, we seek community - the sense of belonging to and active in a larger group and fulfilling the needs of the community and its members.

Steven W. Mosher is president of Population Research Institute (www.pop.org) and author of the book Population Control: Real Costs, Illusory Benefits(Transaction Publishers, New Brunswick, NJ, 2008). Michael J. Miller interviewed him on the subject of his book.
Miller: Dire scenarios about imminent overpopulation, from Malthus to Paul Ehrlich’s The Population Bomb, have not materialized. Where are the mistakes in their calculations?
Steven Mosher: In some cases they were deliberately exaggerated, even fabricated, in an attempt to frighten individuals into having no more than one or two children, and legislatures into funding population control programs.
Assuming that the alarmists really believed those projections, I think that their principal error came in the 1960s when they assumed that Third World countries would have to reach Western standards of living before birth rates decreased. They supposed that only affluence would convince people in Nigeria, China, or Peru to have fewer children.
Of course, population control programs played a role in limiting fertility. But the principal reason why almost all Latin American countries today are ator near replacement-rate fertility levels is that the death rate among infants and children went down, and therefore couples voluntarily stopped having large families. They’re still relatively poor, yet they began limiting the number of children. Reduce the mortality rate and population growth ceases.
Miller: Even if projections about limited resources are wrong, what’s the harm in a little “underpopulation”? Isn’t a nation with negative population growth like a factory that sells its unused CO2 allowances to less environmentally friendly businesses?
Mosher: A free-market economy is constantly looking for new markets for goods and services. The size of those markets is driven in large part by the size of the population. As a population grows, the demand for cars, houses, and other goods increases. As a population shrinks, this process works in reverse.
I think, though, that the dangers of population decline are even more serious than this would suggest, because a decline in absolute numbers of people is always preceded by population aging. The population gets out of balance: too few young people enter the workforce; fewer young people get married, have children and buy houses; and the population ages, which puts increasing demands on retirement and healthcare programs.
You might say, “Yes, but a growing population with lots of children has a bad worker-to-dependent ratio as well.” But children don’t require nearly as much health care as the elderly do, children don’t consume as many resources, and children live with their parents, so there are economies of scale.

Both capitalism and socialism are social, political, and economic philosophies. There are pros and cons of each approach and many countries have implemented a mixed level of each philosophy.
The economic system of capitalism creates a society in which private entities own all factors of production including the individual that own their labor. This type of system promotes competition and uses competition as a driving force of innovation. Competition occurs between owners of supply and this helps improve efficiencies as well as keep prices moderate. The incentive of capitalism is to maximize profit. In a capitalistic society goods and services are distributed based on supply and demand and the government intervenes only to maintain fairness and protect the free market. Advantages of capitalism include production of the best products at the best prices, and innovation. Disadvantages of capitalism include a lack of resources for the people in society who do not contribute such as the elderly, disables, and children, and also the philosophy fails to promote equality of opportunity. Hong Kong is an example of a capitalistic country based on several factors including "lack of corruption, low debt levels, and protection of property rights" (Amadeo, 2020, pp13).
Socialism is composed of social ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange, and also includes the political theories associated with these systems. This means everything is owned and regulated by the community as a whole and the intention is to create equality for everyone. "Socialists assume that the basic nature of people is cooperative. They believe that this basic nature hasn't yet emerged in full because capitalism has forced people to be competitive" (Amadeo, 2020, pp2). Socialism promotes a society in which everyone receives a share based on how much they have contributed and values the collective well-being of the entire population over individuals. Using numerous examples from science textbooks and other scientific communications, Martin demonstrates how the role of the egg is portrayed as passive or negative, while the role of the sperm is portrayed as active, assertive, and heroic. Steven W. Mosher is president of Population Research Institute (www.pop.org) and author of the book Population Control: Real Costs, Illusory Benefits(Transaction Publishers, New Brunswick, NJ, 2008). Michael J. Miller interviewed him on the subject of his book.
Miller: Dire scenarios about imminent overpopulation, from Malthus to Paul Ehrlich’s The Population Bomb, have not materialized. Where are the mistakes in their calculations?
Steven Mosher: In some cases they were deliberately exaggerated, even fabricated, in an attempt to frighten individuals into having no more than one or two children, and legislatures into funding population control programs.
Assuming that the alarmists really believed those projections, I think that their principal error came in the 1960s when they assumed that Third World countries would have to reach Western standards of living before birth rates decreased. They supposed that only affluence would convince people in Nigeria, China, or Peru to have fewer children.
Of course, population control programs played a role in limiting fertility. But the principal reason why almost all Latin American countries today are ator near replacement-rate fertility levels is that the death rate among infants and children went down, and therefore couples voluntarily stopped having large families. They’re still relatively poor, yet they began limiting the number of children. Reduce the mortality rate and population growth ceases.
Miller: Even if projections about limited resources are wrong, what’s the harm in a little “underpopulation”? Isn’t a nation with negative population growth like a factory that sells its unused CO2 allowances to less environmentally friendly businesses?
Mosher: A free-market economy is constantly looking for new markets for goods and services. The size of those markets is driven in large part by the size of the population. As a population grows, the demand for cars, houses, and other goods increases. As a population shrinks, this process works in reverse.
I think, though, that the dangers of population decline are even more serious than this would suggest, because a decline in absolute numbers of people is always preceded by population aging. The population gets out of balance: too few young people enter the workforce; fewer young people get married, have children and buy houses; and the population ages, which puts increasing demands on retirement and healthcare programs.
You might say, “Yes, but a growing population with lots of children has a bad worker-to-dependent ratio as well.” But children don’t require nearly as much health care as the elderly do, children don’t consume as many resources, and children live with their parents, so there are economies of scale.
Europe, for example, is going to see tax rates go through the roof in order to support growing populations ...

Jocelyn Harnett
Both capitalism and socialism are social, political, and economic philosophies. There are pros and cons of each approach and many countries have implemented a mixed level of each philosophy.
The economic system of capitalism creates a society in which private entities own all factors of production including the individual that own their labor. This type of system promotes competition and uses competition as a driving force of innovation. Competition occurs between owners of supply and this helps improve efficiencies as well as keep prices moderate. The incentive of capitalism is to maximize profit. In a capitalistic society goods and services are distributed based on supply and demand and the government intervenes only to maintain fairness and protect the free market. Advantages of capitalism include production of the best products at the best prices, and innovation. Disadvantages of capitalism include a lack of resources for the people in society who do not contribute such as the elderly, disables, and children, and also the philosophy fails to promote equality of opportunity. Hong Kong is an example of a capitalistic country based on several factors including "lack of corruption, low debt levels, and protection of property rights" (Amadeo, 2020, pp13).
Socialism is composed of social ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange, and also includes the political theories associated with these systems. This means everything is owned and regulated by the community as a whole and the intention is to create equality for everyone. "Socialists assume that the basic nature of people is cooperative. They believe that this basic nature hasn't yet emerged in full because capitalism has forced people to be competitive" (Amadeo, 2020, pp2). Socialism promotes a society in which everyone receives a share based on how much they have contributed and values the collective well-being of the entire population over individuals. Advantages associated with socialism include basic needs provided for the entire society, eliminates poverty, and natural resources are preserved. Course Learning Outcome Statement The Course Learning Outcomes section of the portfolio describes how the student has met the learning outcomes for the course(s) that are being pursued through the Prior Learning Assessment Portfolio.
Students are required to write a statement for the learning outcomes that have been identified for the course(s) the student is requesting credit for. The faculty advisor will review the statement. The statement should be well written and supported by sufficient evidence of the student’s learning. It should convey motivation, competence, and the ability to communicate. The focus of the statement is not autobiographical, it should focus on analyzing the student’s learning in the context of the experience. This will be used when determining the number of credits and courses a student receives for learning. The statement should be clear, concise, and descriptive. There is no set length for the narrative, but generally it is three to five pages long, depending on the number of credits/courses being pursued. Students should complete as many pages as necessary to describe their learning and discuss how the learning is connected with the course and degree requirements.

I would like to discuss my experience developing and implementing a SaaS based CRM application(pega) in my current organization. While business is planning to spin a new CRM application, they had some list of vendors and per the requirements they chose to go with Pega. The next question they had is whether to host the application on premise or cloud. For this, they had multiple discussions with CIO and IT staff evaluating the pros and cons of application hosting on cloud.
In requirements gathering phase Business Owners are involved with application analysts, Application architects to captured requirements. Application architect will determine if a requirement can be met from the application. Requirements are then converted into use cases and Requirement documents. Requirements include both Functional and Non-functional. Requirements play a crucial role as they guide developers on what to code. It will be a huge burden for an organization if requirements change constantly. Hence, Business and IT should spend most of their times to gather requirements.
Apart from Business owners and systems analysts, developers should be involved in development phase. Once the application is developed Quality assurance teams are used to see if the Application is functionally stable i.e. they make sure that all the Requirements gathered are covered by test case. For non-functional requirements security tests, Load test and performance tests are conducted. A Release Manager is also needed for accepting the application into production Environment. Proper requirements will come in handy for success of a project. Also, documentation like Requirements traceability matrix will ensure that each requirement is mapped to tasks and Test scripts.

Demographic and Theoretical Notes Infant Mortality Rates are broadly used as an indicator of community health. African American mothers suffer one of the highest rates in the U.S. The decline in death rates in rural areas, without a commensurate drop in the birth rate has led to overpopulation in rural areas. The increase in birth rates, however, is often offset by high infant mortality rates. The increase in Hispanic migrants may play a significant role in reshaping the population characteristics and dynamics in the long run. The recent increase in employment, compared to previous years, indicates promising economic improvement; still, other economic problems need appropriate solutions. The impact of migrant employment goes hand in hand with the increase in construction and other market production. Long disenfranchisement of African Americans and their proportion as a minority continues to handicap political progression. Political parties help structure voting choice by nominating candidates to run for office. Where winner-take-all election prevails, third parties have been notably less successful. More organizational efforts to bring together the Independent voters to assemble governing coalitions may resolve some of the representation problems. Theoretical Discussion

The applicable theories of major population problems center on the Malthusian theory that humans increase rapidly by the urge to reproduce more than the food supply does since plants and nonhuman animals would not grow exponentially. Poverty is an inevitable result of population growth. Unless this incalculable growth is checked by moral restraint, population problems will be insurmountable. The neo-Malthusians criticize the value of moral constrain, but they agree with the other elements of the theory. The Marxian perspective preferred to view human activity as the product of a particular social and economic environment. Each society at each point in history has its own law of populations that determines the consequences of population growth. For capitalism, the consequences are overpopulation and poverty, whereas for socialism population growth is readily absorbed by the economy with no side effects. Marxists believe that science and technology has the ability to increase the availability of food and other goods. Poverty cannot be blamed on the poor. Poverty is the result of capitalism as a well- organized society for each worker is producing more than he or she required. Because the owners of factories keep part of the workers’ wages as payment for the tools they used for production, the lower wages and the poorer workers will be. In addition, capitalism continues to use the labor of the working class to replace it by machines, leading to unemployment and poverty. Marx critics note that Marx hasn’t offered guidelines for the transition from capitalism to socialism where there would be no population problem. In communist China, the ruling party organized efforts to control population by relaxing regulations concerning contraception and abortion. Moving against Marx ideas, China resorted to restrain marriages, the Malthusian solution, and contraception, the neo-Malthusian solution besides abortion.
