2. Preventive pediatrics is defined
as the prevention of disease and
promotion of physical, mental,
and social wellbeing of children
with the aim of attaining a
positive health……….
3. A pediatric emergency is defined as
a serious condition that threatens the
life of an infant,child,teen,or
young,adult,thus,requires immediate
medical attention.
4. it can be caused by a wide variety of factors . That
most common are acute medical problems such as
persistent high fever, breathing difficulties, severe
infections, seizures, dehydration and severe allergic
reactions.
> Major injuries, such as fractures,burns,headinjuries,and
severe bodily trauma caused by falls and vehicular accidents
also qualify as paediatric emergencias.

6. Fevers are usually a
symptom of an underlying
medical condition . In most
cases, fevers are not a
cause of concern. However
, if a childs fever reaches
104f, it can cause a seizure,
which is why it requires
immediate medical
attention .
7. If a child finds it
difficult it to breathe or
is not breathing at all , it
is considered as a
paediatric emergency
.first responders ,
whether medically
trained or not , should
check for any
obstruction and attempt
first aid to help the child
breathe.
8. Seizures or
convulsions can
be caused by a
high grade fever
or by an
underlying
medical
condition ,such
as epilepsy.
9. Jaundice is a yellow tint to a
newborns skin and the white
part of the eyes. It is a sign
there’s too much bilirubin in
the baby’s blood. The word
having too much bilirubin in
the blood is
hyperbilirubinemia.
In rare cases, if the bilirubin
level stays high and is not
treated , it can caus brain
damage called kernicterus
.this can lead to serios lifelong
problems.
10. Shock is a syndrome that
results from inadequate
oxygen delivery to meet
metabolic demands.
