Markets in India traded in a tight range throughout the session before closing flat. The experts opined that some profit booking can be
expected ahead of F&O expiry on Thursday.
Cairn India fell about 3.6% on BSE after Cairn UK Holdings sold some of its stake in the Indian company through a block deal.
The market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advances and declining stocks were in a ratio of 1543:1324 while 134 scrips
remained unmoved.
The BSE Sensex ended at 18694.41, up 21.07 points or 0.11%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of 18790.01 and
18636.16 respectively. 12 stocks advanced against 18 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The S&P CNX Nifty gained 4.30 points or 0.08% to settle at 5673.90. The index touched high and low of 5702.70 and 5652.45
respectively. 21 stocks advanced against 29 declining ones on the index.
Sensex Nifty
The BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 6483.49 and gained 0.46% while Small-cap index jumped up by 0.53% to 6903.15.
The broader BSE 500 index increased to 7140.64 (up 0.23%) and S&P CNX 500 index rose to 4460.40 (up 0.21%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 9.13% at 17.11 from its previous close of 18.83 on Monday.
Sectors in action
On the BSE Sectorial front, Real Estate (up 2.08%), FMCG (up 1.85%) and Consumer Durables (up 0.75%) were the top gainers.
Metals (down 1.36%), Automobile (down 0.72%) and Oil & Gas (down 0.20%) were the top losers.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (up 2.67%), Cipla Limited (up 1.92%), ITC Limited (up 1.86%), Hindustan Unilever Limited (up

Going Forward
S&P CNX Nifty is now pivoted at 5675 for next session. The next support is at 5649 and on upside it has a resistance at 5699 levels.
