1. Markets end in red with Nifty below 6180

Tailing a cautious start, Indian equity indices continued the southward journey and dipped in red amidst subdued
global cues. Sensex lost almost a ton and Nifty closed below 6180 levels. Among BSE sectorials, Realty was the top
laggard.
On global front, all the US, Asian and European indices traded mostly in red on weaker than expected US September
jobs report. However, the data reinforced expectations that the Federal Reserve will maintain its asset purchase
program at the current pace.
Back home, PSU major, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Union Bank, Central Bank of India, and
Punjab National Bank rallied 1.6%-5% on BSE after Finance Minister P. Chidambaram ruled out the possibility of
Government reducing its stake in the state run banks. Earlier, Chidambaram allowed Government to dilute their stake
in the public sector banks for infusing the budgeted Rs 14000 crore of bank capitalization citing the rising number of

respectively, while 189 scrips remained unmoved.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 20767.88, down 97.09 points or 0.47%. The 30 share index touched a high and a
low of 20922.32 and 20589.72 respectively. 9 stocks advanced against 21 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The CNX Nifty lost 24.45 points or 0.39% to settle at 6178.35. The index touched high and low of 6217.95 and
6116.60 respectively. 18 stocks advanced against 32 declining ones on the index.

The S&P BSE Mid-cap index moved down to 5986.00 and lost 0.03% while S&P BSE Small-cap index hammered
down by 0.26% to 5855.97.
The broader S&P BSE 500 index decreased to 7533.29 (down 0.32%) and CNX 500 index declined to 4723.50 (down
0.31%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX gained 1.95% at 20.35 from its previous close of 19.96 on Tuesday.

On the BSE Sectorial front, Capital Goods (up 0.58%), Banks (up 0.56%) and Consumer Durables (up 0.41%) were
the top gainers.
2. Real Estate (down 1.46%), Power (down 1.28%) and Information Technology (down 0.93%) were the top losers.

GAIL (India) Ltd (up 3.89%), Cipla Ltd (up 2.74%), State Bank of India (up 2.35%), Larsen And Toubro Ltd (up 1.35%)

Wipro Ltd (down 4.41%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (down 2.39%), NTPC Ltd (down 2.02%), Bharat Heavy
Electricals Ltd (down 1.93%) and Bajaj Auto Ltd (down 1.72%) were the top losers on the Sensex.

HDFC Bank (-23.61 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-18.48 points), ICICI Bank (17.76 points), Wipro Ltd (16.37 points) and Reliance Industries Ltd (-16.11 points) were the major Sensex drivers today.
On the other end ICICI Bank (5.22 points), HDFC Bank (-4.88 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-4.80 points),
