Lookingat the results,youcan see that 77.78% of respondentswere female suggestingthatthe
musicvideoneedstobe relatable tofemalesratherthanmaleshowever, 22.2% of respondents
were male whichshowsthatthere still needstobe aspectsof masculinitythroughoutthe video.
Therefore,the musicvideoshouldbe tailoredtomore of a feminine feelingbutstill have features
that are non-genderspecificsoall genderscan watchit withoutbeingoffended.

The majorityof respondentsare under18 whichsuggeststhatthe musicvideowill needtorelate to
a youngeraudience ratherthanto an elderlyaudience.The eldestrespondentwasover45 however,
suggestingalthoughthe musicvideowillhave ayoungerfeelingtoit,it needstobe relatable toan
audience alsobutnotsignificantly.Thisisfurthershownwhen28% of the respondentsare between
the ages of 18 and 25; althoughtheyare still younger,the majorityof the musicvideoshouldbe
targetedat thisaudience due toitbeinga godmediumpointbetweenunder18’s andover25’s.

The heavymajorityof respondentsrepliedwithpreferringindie/alternative style musicmeaningthat
our musicvideoismostlikelygoingtobe analternative songbutwithanalternative/indiemusic
video;sothe visual will eitherconformorchallenge conventionsof the musicgenre.However,a
large proportion of respondentsrepliedwithPopsuggestingeitherthe musicorthe videoneedsto
be influencedbypop. Thiscan easilybe incorporatedtothe visualsof the videobyusingeither
brighterandboldercoloursor currenttrends.The respondentwhorepliedsaying“Idon’thave a
favourite”,emphasizesthe musicvideoneedstobe influencedbyothergenressoforexample pop
or evenrock.

The majorityof answerssaidtheylookfora narrative withvisualsratherthanperformance which
linkswell withthe genre of musictheyalsoprefer,indieoralternative. Withthisgenre andthe lyrics
theyuse,a narrative storyline usuallygoeswellwiththe style musicasitcan be relatable tothe
lyricsand musicor abstract andchallenge them.The tworespondentswhorepliedwantingall of the
above iskindof an anomalyasmost musicvideosdon’tincludeall three –Narrative,performance
and Visuals- butratherone ortwo.

All the respondentsrepliedwith watchingmusicvideosonYouTube.Thisisnotsurprisingasthe
majorityof people have smartphonesoraccessto the internet.However,thisquestioncreates a
problemasthe respondentsneededinternetaccesstotake thissurvey;thismaymeanthat people
whodo watch musicvideosonthe TV couldnot take the surveyresultinginanunfairandbiased
overall answer.

As the respondentsrepliedwithlookingforphotography,thismeansthatwhenwe create our
digipak,the frontcoverwill focusonaestheticof imagesratherthanartworkcreatedforthe cover
or the actual bandmembersor soloartistthemself.The repliesof notlikingimagesof the artistson
the front isconventional of the indie/alternative genre chosen.Therefore,usingthe surveyandthe
answers,Ican tell the genre,the artworkof the albumcoverand the type of performance of the
musicvideo.Theyalsolinktogetherwhichsuggeststhe musicvideowill flow easilyandlook
professionaldue tothe conformitiesandchallengesof the specificalternativegenre.

Thislast questionfinishesthe choosingprocessasthisdeterminesthe type of bandorartist that is
pickedtobe involvedwiththe digipak(soonthe albumfrontcoveror theirlogo) andalso a song
that issimilartotheirgenre or aestheticandstyle. The majorityof respondentsrepliedwithArctic
Monkeyswhichisan indie-rockband. Thisfurtheremphasizesthatthe indie genreisgoingtobe the
maingenre involvedwhencreatingthe videoanddigipak. The restof repliesare individual
responseswhichare all differentandare determinedbypersonalpreferences.However,the
majorityof ‘other’responses are eitherrockor popbut influencedbyindieandalternativemusic;
for example indie-rock.
