2. Full Lyrics
I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savouring this heart that's healing
So I cry
(Holy)
The light is white
(Holy)
And I see you
I'm alive
I'm alive
I'm alive
And I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savouring this heart that's healing
My hands are searching for you
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you
This fire rising through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you
I'm alive, I'm alive
I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savouring this heart that's healing
My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place
The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with you
I am alone and they are too with you
I'm alive
I'm alive
Take my hand
I give it to you
Now you own me
All I am
You said you would never leave me
I believe you
I believe
I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savouring this heart that's healed

3. Lyric Analysis
All Around Me by Flyleaf
“This fire rising through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you”
“I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savouring this heart that's healing”
The chorus is the most important part of the song since it is
describing the entity of God and the fact he is omnipotent.
However it is important for our song choice since our
theme is that the character is trapped with their other
personality so “all around me” has a slightly darker
meaning of being surrounded by people who don’t notice
them(rather than describing God in particular) as well as
their second side to themselves.
In these lines, once again it is about getting used to the
idea and faith of having a God to believe in. However,
“I’m not used to seeing you” could also suggest (for our
particular themes) that the character could possibly have
another personality and/or be suffering from a mental
illness such as schizophrenia.

All Around Me by Flyleaf
“The light is white
(Holy)
And I see you”
For these lines, there is an interpretation for our particular
“loneliness” theme (other than just talking about God).
“The light is white” could represent a big realisation for the
main character. Which would link to the next line “and I
see you” since in this particular interpretation it’s their
second personality that they would finally find or see
before them. Clearly the intended interpretation was more
of a religious conversion or experience where they first
found God, who appeared to them at bad time and luckily
which changed their lives for good.
“Now you own me
All I am
You said you would never leave me
I believe you
I believe”
In this last verse, once again “you said you would never
leave me” it is speaking about how God has made them
feel less alone and how they believe that God will never
make them feel that way again. However, once again we
are taking these lyrics and using a different
interpretation. “You said you would never leave me”
could refer to another personality that they have created
in order to feel less alone.
5. Lyric Analysis
All Around Me by Flyleaf
“And I begin to fade
Into our secret place”
In these lines, it supports the idea of creating something
new (like a new personality or world) as a form of
escapism from reality or their problems. “Into our secret
place” suggests that their own creations are personal to
them and that means no one else knows about them.
“I am alone ” and “my tongue
dances behind my lips for you”
These lines are really important for our themes of
isolation. “I am alone” speaks for itself as well as shows
that the character admits they are alone (they are not
stubborn, they are honest with the world). “My tongue
dances behind my lips for you” also suggests that the
main character could have a second personality as they
would utter speech for their other personality in order to
interact with themselves. (The religious intention was
that the character would spread the word of God to others
and have the ability to talk in order to change the world
for good).
