This emergency project replaced approximately 60 feet of 10-inch wastewater sewer pipe that was broken during the installation of an electricity utility conduit. The project included installation of an emergency wastewater bypass pumping system, excavation and removal of the broken wastewater sewer pipe, installation of new manholes, and rehabilitation of the work site. The repairs were conducted between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. to limit disruptions to traffic in this busy corridor.

Project Details Spring Hill Metro Emergency Sewer Replacement Capital Facilities/Wastewater Design and Construction Division Project Overview: • Installation of an emergency wastewater bypass pumping system. • Communication and coordination between Contractors, Dominion Virginia Power, VDOT, and surrounding businesses. • Excavation and removal of broken wastewater sewer pipe. • Installation of two new manholes and new wastewater sewer pipe. • Rehabilitation of work site. Project Team: • Robert White, Jr. - Wastewater Collection Division • Brendan Schillo - Wastewater Design and Construction Division Project Description: The purpose of this project was to replace approximately 60-ft of 10-inch wastewater sewer pipe that was broken from the installation of a electricity utility conduit by Dominion Power. The break occurred in the westbound lane of Route 7 near Spring Hill Metro Station. Repairs were done between the hours of 9pm and 5am to limit disruptions to the flow of traffic. This project was substantially complete on November 20, 2018.
