It presents Dental Technology as a member of not just Dentistry but the health care industry. This paper examined Revelation Dental Technology with the objective of giving

thought and emotions about Dental Technology. It is meant to unveil some
pertinent questions such as; Do you know who I am? Can you be my disciple? Do
you know my rules? Will you be a faithful servant? Therefore, the vision of this
presentation sees Dental Technology as a profession juxtaposing other professions
in dentistry as well as other healthcare practices to provide effective and efficient
oral health care delivery. The mission of this paper relates to revealing the nature
of Dental Technology especially as it affects the practice in Nigeria.

INTRODUCTION
Revelation Dental Technology is a poem purposed and constructed to describe
the profession as well as to convey her dignity as inspired by the creator. The
paper used the poetic methodology with emphasis on Lyric Poetry which
expresses the author’s personal thought and emotions about Dental Technology
and her ethical conducts.
CONCEPTUAL CLARIFICATIONS
Revelation is a disclosure i.e. a surprisingly good or valuable experience (Microsoft
Encarta dictionary, 2009)

Dental Technology is the art and science of designing, fabrication, servicing and
supplying artificial appliances for a lost or congenitally any missing part of
the oro-facial structures as well as the correction of abnormalities
associated with human dentition (Eyarefe S.O, 2012).
A Dental Technologist is one who by his studies, education and experience, and
qualification engages or is qualified to engage in the practice of
construction and reconstruction of dental prostheses restoration and, such
other acts as by universally accepted customs are performed by those in the
profession (DTRBN, Act Cap D6 of 2004).
A profession refers to a body of people within an occupation who have related
careers, interests, education, knowledge, training and ethics. It is a
disciplined group of individuals who adhere to high ethical standards and
uphold themselves to, and are accepted by, the public as possessing special
knowledge and skills (Australian Council of Professions, 2005).
Poem is a piece written in verse.
Poetic i.e. relating to poetry.
Lyric Poetry: portrays the poet's own feelings, states of mind, ideas, and
perceptions.
THEORETICAL FOUNDATION
This theory was propounded by M.H Abrams in 1979. The theory defines poetry
as an expression, or overflow, or utterance, or feeling or as the products of poet's
feeling. According to this theory, Art was seen as the means of portraying the
unique, individual feelings and emotions of the artist and that good art should
successfully communicate the feelings and emotions which the artist intended to
express.
THE POEM: REVELATION DENTAL TECHNOLOGY
1. Where are you my beloved “Dental Technology”?
For my creations on earth are in need
I have heard their groaning
Go now and make disciples of yourself
And then liberate my people

2. Do you know who I am
Hear my words oh my chosen
I was born into this planet earth
I am needed in every race and tribe
They call me different names in different world
The light of God, the unquenchable servant of the creator
I reside in every country, nations of the world
God sent me to redeem, restore, beautify and make pleasant
I have a defined role to play for humanity
People find solace and respite in life through me
3. Can you be my disciple
Are you worth chosen
If you are one of my chosen one
Do not be afraid, follow me
If you are with me, then obey my commands
Do you know my laws; I have operation guide
Now that you are my disciple, try and please me
4. Do you know my rules
Serve me with your heart and love
Know that I have rules, regulations and commands
Obey and understand my words
Acknowledge my principles
Make people who need my help happy
Love anyone around you
Particularly love your neighbour
5. Will you be a faithful servant
Hear me, I don’t compete with others
I have my role, they have theirs
God sent us to this world with different gifts
Know your role through my commandments
Wisdom is given you and believes to be great
By faith you will overcome
Try and create a culture of excellence
And behold, the song of victory is not far

EXPLANATIONS
Stanza 1 presents the mind of the creator i.e. God Almighty who expresses his
worry about groaning of his creations. In other to give succour to his creations, He
then sent his beloved son Dental Technology to come and liberate his creations.
In the literal sense, dental technology is personified as if human.
Stanza 2 explains the son “Dental Technology” addressing the world on arrival
trying to tell the world of his mission on earth. He introduced himself as the light
of God who is found in every country of the world. He came to redeem, restore
and beautify those who need his service. He also talked about his defined roles
for humanity for the purpose of providing solace to mankind.
Stanza 3 reveals Dental Technology having authority and power to recruit eligible
men and women who can work with him in other to fulfill his goals. He reiterated
that anyone who wants to work with him must be one who can obey his
commands and should be able to please him. He gave warnings that the chosen
must face tribulations and series of trials while carrying out their duties but they
should bear in mind that the one that sent him (i.e. God) supersedes their
temptations.
Stanza 4 reveals that there are rules governing their practice (i.e. code of
conducts). They must adhere to these codes if they must achieve their roles. He
further admonishes his chosen ones to have good relationship with their
neighbours and those they are serving.
Stanza 5 requires faithfulness to be displayed by his chosen ones. He testified to
the fact that he doesn’t compete with others in the society. The chosen ones have
been given wisdom to become great professionals among others. They must
create a culture of excellence which will eventually lead to song of victory.
