Ideas For Compare Contrast Essay
1. Compare Contrast Vs Persuasion
For Paper 4, It should be a either a Compare and Contrast essay or a Persuasion essay since we've
covered those sectors of writing within the Logman Reader and Discussion Board Posts. I don't
really have a topic for a compare or contrast essay although for a Persuasion essay I think since
we've been covering social issues it should be a social issue thats somewhat of an epidemic like
the whole "tweens" article. On the other hand, the topic for the Persuasion essay could be as
follows: Despite cell phones being a very popular and mainstream form of communication, some
indidvudals are starting to interact less with people. Based on the given claim, do you agree or
disagree? Why? . The overall audience of the audience would be members of the

2. Compare And Contrast Two Friends
We all have friends that are alike or different from each other. My friend Nicole and Amy are also
friends. Both of them are alike in some ways, but at the same time unlike from each other. For
example, they both dress to their comfort, but the clothes they choose to wear are different. They
both have similar taste in music and television shows. However, Nicole and Amy are more
different than alike. Nicole and Amy have different appearance and style. Nicole is five feet and
two inches with medium brown wavy hair that is shoulder length. She has big eyes and also
freckles on her face. Nicole tends to dress very casually. For an instant, she would wear jean with a
graphic tee or a blouse and navy blue classic vans. She occasionally keeps up with the latest fashion

really sociable and blunt at the same time. I remember a time during lunch there was a table across
from us were talking super loud and she shout "shut up". Amy is not afraid to speak her mind while
Nicole is more shy and quiet. Nicole cannot stand watching gory, horror and supernatural movie. For
example, during summer, our friend, Julie, invited Nicole, Amy, and Iwatch Green Inferno. Nicole
did not want to come along due to the fact that when she watched the trailer of that movie she
found it super gory and disgusting. However, Amy did not find that trailer gory and disgusting and
came long to watch the movie with us. Amy enjoys watching horror or supernatural movie or

COMPARISON AND CONTRAST ESSAY
Comparison and Contrast Essay
Definition: In this kind of essay, the aim is to show the similarities and differences of two items, two
people, two countries, or how something or someone has changed. When comparing two things, we
focus more on the similarities though we may mention the differences shortly. When contrasting two
things, we point out the differences between them. The most important point to consider while
planning a comparison and contrast essay is choosing comparable items. e.g. Middle East Technical
University and Bogazici University. We have to make sure that these two items have enough points
to be compared. After writing the comparable points as a list, location, size, reputation, ...show more

4. Compare and Contrast
The Compare/ Contrast Essay
First, let's explain compare and contrast:
When we compare, we show our readers a subject's similarities.
When we contrast, we show our readers a subject's differences.
Compare and Contrast essays are learning–process essays. You learn about your subject as you
gather and organize information.
This type of essay takes a bit of organization, and it's this organizational process, this gathering of
facts, that helps you learn as you go.
You will create lists of qualities or traits that each of your subjects has, and as you do this, you will
discover insights to your subject that, at first glance, you may not have realized were there.
It's like buying a new shirt. The moment you spread it out on...show more content...
And you will either compare or contrast, not both. Be careful, sometimes going point by point can
make your writing sound tedious and repetitive. Watch your language and transition words. Use
several points at a time.
Ending: As in the argumentative essay, bring it all together. Allow your ending to go back to your
thesis. Use the transitional words on the next page to help your paper's coherence. Transitions and
other connecting words and connecting sentences should be used throughout.
Remember: There are no hard and fast rules as to how many comparisons or contrasts you should
offer. For a thorough look into your subject, you must offer enough comparisons or contrasts or both
to make a valid statement.
Transitional Words (Conjunctival Adverbs)
Use these words to help you connect your thoughts, your sentences, and your paragraphs:

6. How to Write a Compare and Contrast Essay
Instructions of How to Write a Compare and Contrast Essay
1
First look at the items you are supposed to compare and contrast. Do you understand them? If you
are writing an essay outside of class, look them up. Start with your text book but also look at your
notes from class, and even go and check them out at Wikipedia. If you are taking a test, and can't
look things up, pause and think over what these things mean. The next two steps will help you
remember.
2
Make a list of ways the two items are the same. This is the "compare" part of a compare and contrast
essay. (For an in class essay, it will be good if you can bring in extra paper. If you can't, you can
make some notes on the back of your blue book.)
Sponsored Links...show more content...
If you feel they are more different than the same, start by comparing the similarities.
7
Now get to your point of view. If you are writing a classic "five paragraph essay" you may want to
spend a whole paragraph pointing out what is wrong with the arguments you made for the other
side. If don't have to meet a specific number of paragraphs, you can just get straight to supporting
your own point of view. Look at your list items that support you, and write about them all, and why
they are important.
8
With compare and contrast essays, the conclusion will be a lot like the introduction. You summarize
what you just said. You may find that some points came up in writing that you hadn't put in your
intro. This is a good time to refer back to those.
9
If this is not an in–class essay test, you should try to set the essay aside after you finish, so you can
go back later with your mind fresh. You may come up with a few other items you want to talk about
on your compare or contrast list. You may come up with a better way to write your introduction or
conclusion.
If you can master how to write compare and contrast essays, you will find that you can use that form
for a lot of other essays when the instructor doesn't give you a format.

If someone leaves their hometown and go somewhere different they may experience something
completely separate from your time in your home. As an effect of this difference the person may
change according to the setting. Any town or city doesn't change nearly as much as a person. For
either better or worse it is easiest to tell how one has changed by returning to a place they have
been before. Every other summer my family goes to Oregon. We have been since I was four, but
every time it felt a slight difference. I realized after we went last summer that it was me that was
changing. At first when I went I liked there because it was an action packed vacation. However, in
more recent trips I've had a realization that I like going on those trips

11. To Build A Fire Compare And Contrast Essay
The contrasts between young and old are very definitive. The contrast between the two shows itself
very prominently in To Build a Fire. Even though the old man at Sulfur Creek tells the man not to go
out alone, the man abandons the advice and ventures out alone with his dog into the Yukon. The old
man was right, the younger man should have listened instead of being arrogant. He should have
gone with someone and kept himself safe. Even though it may not seem like it, the entire story
revolves around the man's decision to travel alone into the Yukonand simply discard the old man's
advice.

decision he made would cost him his life in the end. I think...show more content...
The only way I wouldn't have done the same is if the weather had varied and looked worse than it
normally did. I think a few things that played a part in the man's decision to go alone were, he is
younger and stronger than the old man and he is arrogant and thinks he is smarter. Another
reason might be because they are always in the weather and it never really varies, so as a result
the man might think that the weather is harmless to him. I think the reason I would do the same
thing as the younger man is because I have defied my elders' advice in the past. I think that many
of the youth, including myself think that they know better than their parents or any elders. For
instance, just a couple years ago my dad and I were spending the weekend with my aunt. She
lives on a farm and my uncle and I were riding ATV's, while earlier she had told me to slow down.
Of course because I thought I was fine and had it under control, I discarded her advice. After
about twenty minutes of riding around I had torn into a pasture and through an electric fence,
simply because I didn't listen to her. I regret not listening to her because I ended up with some
pretty nasty bruises and causes a couple hundred dollars worth of damage. My experience in not
listening to the wiser, older people was a mere comparison to the younger man in the story, whereas
he lost his life.

continue to advance at a rapid pace. Communicating with family and friends from another country
has become easier than ever. It would seem as if everything is perfect. However, that is not the
case at all. The irony of it all is that inventions that were supposed to make us connected to people

Members of society have been so entranced with keeping in touch with everyone, that we often
neglect the people closest to us. We would rather post pictures, write comments, and video chat with
other people than our own family members (Wallis 14). In addition to the obsession over
cyber–space connection, the bond from sharing quality time with your family seems like a distant
thing in the past. The "bond" that the internet provides is superficial compared to the one a person
can build with people. Wallis best describes this when she says "If you're IMing four friends while
watching That '70s Show, it's not the same as sitting on the couch with your buddies or your sisters
and watching the show together" (Wallis 18). Turkle explains this by stating "We've become
accustomed to a new way of being 'alone together.' Technology–enabled, we are able to be with one
another, and also elsewhere, connected to wherever we want to be" (Turkle 4). Technology has
given people a false sense of being together when they are really not. Another common theme that
the two essays share is that technology and social media has made us less patient. Turkle attributes
this due to the lack of face–to–face conversations. She argues "Face–to–face conversation unfolds
slowly. It teaches patience. When we communicate on our digital devices, we learn different
habits...we start to expect faster responses"

13. Compare And Contrast Prepositions
Prepositions are one of the basic structures that make up the whole sentence. Even though some
sentences can hold meaning without the help of prepositions, others need it in order to be
completely understood. When first learning how to translate and interpret English to Vietnamese or
vice versa, students can face some difficulties regarding the use of prepositions. In both languages, it
is undeniable that prepositions occur at a high rate of frequency in written or spoken form; however,
they have different roles in term of characteristic and usage with a few similarities. Therefore, this
paper's purpose is to compare and contrast prepositions in English and Vietnamese to give students a
fresh perspective about prepositions and guide them how to use prepositions appropriately.
Introduction...show more content...
This is clearly represented in English, for many research and studies about prepositions have been
done. This, however, is not the case in Vietnamese. Prepositions, in this case, tend to be combined
with conjunctions into one class, which is relational. The question is "Why is it the same thing but
different in different languages?". That was the reason that made me first think of this topic when
deciding what to write about. Throughout this paper, we will cover from the basic definition to the
usage and characteristics of prepositions in both English and Vietnamese in a contrastive view. I will
also provide some implications at the end to help students of Translating and Interpreting use

The sculpture "LOVE" created by Robert Indiana and the sculpture "The Kiss" made by Auguste

"The Kiss" is more of a classic form of art and has been placed in more private areas. Although it has
a distressing grey color "The Kiss" has more depth; the feeling of intimacy is strong and makes a
statement.
There are both similarities and differences in "The Kiss" and "LOVE". The emotion and meaning
behind both are incredible, it shows and understands the meanings of love, lust, joy, and intimacy.
Love can either be spelt out or expressed by action and is what both pieces show. Love can be
interrupted in many ways, but there always has to be a kiss in love.

20. Compare And Contrast Research Approaches
Compare and Contrast Research Approaches
Introduction
It is a truism that students need to improve their literacy skills. Through the use of graphic novels,
students can develop higher cognitive thinking levels, analyze and interpret various media and see
an overall reinforcement of 21st century literacy skills. However, what is still questioned at this
point in the research process is whether to use a quantitative approach, a qualitative approach, or a
mixture of both approaches. Like the research problem and purpose statement, determining which
method would be more productive as literacy tools are reassessed is highly important. A strong
research study, using the right method, would be beneficial in increasing comprehension of the topic
therefore leading to a more effective way to teach secondary English language learners and
struggling readers.
Quantitative Approach
Researching graphic novel use with ELLs using a quantitative approach, post–structuralism view
which even leans toward feminist theory, could become filled with lots of data and not enough
personal interaction, even though we see that the student/researcher discussions does take place
(Glesne, 2011). However, information gathered through this approach would be more appealing to
Administrators. The true key would be for administrators to listen to the highly acclaimed literacy
organizations and look past the comic–book–cousin of the graphic novel, especially so in light of the

Inexperienced teachers have a good subject specialism, this is generally fresh from their training,

"For many newly qualified teachers, while pupils provide the ultimate reward in teaching, their
poor behavior was often the cause of the major low points". In some aspects there is very little
difference in experienced or new teachers in relation to their knowledge in their subject, both
should know their subject well and keep their knowledge updated on a regular basis. Also both
want to make a difference to their students' life, to teach them to the best of their capability.
However there are differences in how they teach their subject, how they come across to their
students and how they manage their classrooms. More experienced teachers will be more confident
in their approach, more prepared to deal with a variety of learning needs, have made mistakes in the
past and learned from these to better prepare themselves for the future. Generally new teachers lack
the confidence to teach which can only be gained through experience, they need to learn what works

however have a willingness to learn, to adapt, and to mould themselves into a confident and

With the advertisement showing several different fragrances it gives it a more of a selective look to
see if there is any fragrance that might appeal to the audience, which makes it a more marketable

With both beauty products advertisements targeting their audience, sex appeal continues to grab the
attention of the audience and that's what sells the product. Advertisers have to be careful not to put
too much sex appeal into their advertisements or their message on their product will be overlooked.
By using sex appeal appropriated and not over doing it will easily benefited the manufacture. Axe

consumers are looking for.
