I decide which portfolio I wanted to create For next week I will be thinking and researching ideas.
Such as what genre of music I wanted it to be and how I
wanted to represent my artist

I decided I wanted to create an indie-pop music video and that my
band is going to be quite edgy. I researched other artists who
create this genre of music and took inspiration from the way they
represent themselves through videos and artwork.
I want to decide the song I will be using for my music
video so that I can start planning ideas and themes for
it.

I researched music videos and some of the ideas I had for the video
had to be re-worked as they wouldn’t fit with the type of song I
have selected. Now that I have all my background information and
have a clear image of the type of band, I began creating my
Ancillary 2 task and started designing my digipack.
Next week I will complete my digipak design and begin
my research.

I looked through NME and Q magazines as these are the type of
magazines I would expect my band to be featured in. I then
selected 3 posters that I thought had contrasting design elements
but also ones that I was inspired by in some way. I then
downloaded them onto my computer and begun to analyse them

I began my ancillary 2 task of designing my poster inspired by my
research and then completed the rest of my magazine poster
research. I found limitations in photoshop because it crashed often

We finished the mind map and made sure it was in depth. We then
discussed which route would be best to create our video and
discussed setting and storylines that would look effective when
filmed.

We decided on a final idea which was that we wanted to create an
enigmatic storyline that had time distorted structure. The narrative
would complement the lyrics as it would depict that the female
character is missing a past relationship.

We began working on the script by dividing the song into 30
second sections and writing in detail the narrative that would take
place in them and the shots that would be used. Send off

Practiced using the camera and equipment by taking footage
around the college. We practiced the shots that we knew we
would need for our music video and that we thought might be
difficult such as a focus shift

Filmed outside of class so that we can become more comfortable
with the camera before we begin to record the music video. We
recorded a small sequence of 5 shots of our friends meeting in the
canteen. Each shot was taken from a different angle, it will then be
edited together to make a sequence.

majority of the filming complete in the next week

(Detailed Weekly Summary)
Reviewed the footage we’d filmed previously and begun to edit it
together to make a short sequence with the 5 shots. We then
reviewed the shots and decided that the light exposure was too
bright and that some of continuity in the sequence didn’t flow so
we would need to work on that when creating our music video.
Begin shooting more of the video, possible the ‘Pub’
scene in the flashbacks

We filmed the artist getting ready before she went out and asked
her to laugh and joke into the camera. We then went to the pub
and filmed our artist with the male character on a night out. We
uploaded this footage in the lesson.
Aim to import the footage into premiere and begin
editing.

We imported and began to cut the footage down into short clips
because this filming was used in the music that was a fast tempo
so the edit needed to be short to ensure that it would complement
the music.

We had a lot of footage and wasn’t able to finish it all in one lesson
so we had to continue editing in today’s lesson. The flashbacks of
the female character getting ready and the pub scene. We had a
problem when premier wouldn’t render after many attempts we
realised the bar at the top wasn’t fully pulled across the whole
video

bright so over the holiday we decided to film the scene again.

We went out to a local park to film to shoot the ‘argument’
footage. We uploaded the filming, named it and put it in to folders
so that it was easy to navigate.

Now that we finished out rough draft we began to look at special
effects we could use over the top of the filming to make it look
more professional. We found that the ‘Luma’ effect made the
‘present day’ shots look more atmospheric. I created my final
poster design using shots from the video in a simplistic style

We created our final draft of our music video and exported the
video and uploaded it onto ‘Youtube’. We then created a focus
group onto Facebook and included 6 participants asked them 5
questions to ask about our video so that we could gain audiences
response and edit the video dependant on our consumers’ needs. I
