Planning begins, starting to search for an
appropriate song out of a collection and
develop ideas for my piece of work,
beginning idea generation of possible
filming areas and methods
Have a song chosen for definite with possible ideas
mapped out for how to film the video and possibly even
locations in which to film the piece itself. If I encounter
problems with ideas being too complex or expensive to
produce, I will either remove or alter plans in order to fit
the appropriate time scale and budget I am working
with

Chosen the song after ruling out possible
other songs and ideas due to complexity
and expenses keeping the simpler and
cheaper ideas open, allowing for a mind
map of planning to begin in order to keep
the ideas organised in a way that allows for
me to begin developing a plan
Begin planning out the scenes from the video and
generating more ideas, as well as finishing the mind
map. I will also begin planning the ancillary tasks,
making sure that they fit in with the style of the video
overall. If any problems arise within scene planning due
to complexity or cost, the scenes will be altered

allowed me to do a full write-up of my ideas
and finalise my song choice, with an
analysis of the lyrics to allow for a
development of an enigmatic narrative

ideas and for me to include the conventions of various
rock and metal videos for a better idea of how to go
about placing these conventions into my own video

I have completed one of my video analysis
pieces, using Lacey's Repertoire of
Elements, using Linkin Park's 'Papercut' as
my first base, a metal song with a part
performance and part conceptual video,
allowing me to further develop my own
ideas
Analyse two other videos and begin analysing a CD
digipak, inspiring further ideas for both my video and
Ancillary One piece. If I run into a problem with time or
inability to find an appropriate digipak, I will go out
searching for a digipak in stores to take pictures of
myself

I got two more video analysis completed,
one by Pop-Punk band All Time Low and the
other by Electronic-Punk band, The Prodigy,
having more diversity within my videos
while simultaneously keeping the genres
I would like to complete two digipak analysis after
finding appropriate digipaks for my research. This will
allow for me to begin gaining ideas for my own digipak.
If I run into troubles in finding a digipak, I will go to
shops and buy CDs to take pictures of and use as my

I have completed two digipak analysis for
my product research, allowing me to see
the conventions of different digipaks as well
as complete one analysis of a magazine
advert to add towards my planning for my
own magazine poster

other two analysis of magazine adverts allowing for me
to begin planning my own ancillaries and further
developing my own ideas for my music video based on
my research findings.

I have completed my final two advert
analysis, allowing me to begin the planning
on my own ancillaries, starting to draw out
plans and ideas for the digipak and advert
I would like to have completed a questionnaire to ask a
small group questions on other music videos, collecting
the evidence to use when making my own video.
Problems could arise with responses but if that should
happen, I will place the questionnaire to other groups,
collecting answers to correlate a full report

with a new idea as my cast are all busy for
weeks to come, leaving me with very little
