Comparison Of The Pigs In George Orwell's Animal Farm
At the start of the novel, George Orwell's Animal Farm describes the pigs to be the "cleverest of the animals". This is clearly an advantage and so leads
to the pigs taking over the farm. There is a sense of leadership very soon after Old Major's death as the three pigs, Snowball, Napoleon and Squealer
arrange meetings with the other animals and already begin to give orders. Later in the novel, the pigs battle for power over the animals begins to grow
and the roles and functions surrounding Snowball and Squealer is on rocky grounds. Snowball, a clever pig, tends to be loyal, brave, and outgoing.
These are just a few excellent qualities of a leader. Squealer, best known of the porker pigs with a silver–tongued. Deception proved to be his
trademark, and he became Napoleon's right–hand man. Both have had their share of leadership on the farm, yet both have had their share of conflict as
well. Orwell describes Snowball as a "more vivacious pig than Napoleon." We can see this whilst he is still on the farm, as he is always doing things to
benefit the whole of the farm, not just himself whereas Napoleon is. "Snowball made a little speech, emphasizing the need for all animals to be ready to
die for Animal farm if need be." It is evident from this quote that Snowball is very passionate about the farm and will do anything to improve it. His
passion for the farm is very much shown at the battle of the cowshed where he is in charge of the attack against Jones and other farmers. He

Animal Farm Essay Religion is perceived as a positive establishment by society. However, George Orwell in the novel, Animal Farm, flips the coin of
religion to show his readers another side. Orwell through the characters explores and exposes as a manipulative whelm animals can take a "positive"
and make it negative. The character deviation and symbolism in this novel Old major, a pig, who is tired of being mistreated by human beings and
believe the farm would be in better condition without Mr. Jones, initiates the "movement" that consisted of a rebellion that overthrow all human beings
from this farm. Of course, the farm animals believe Old Major because he is known to be wiser animal. Unfortunately, Old Major dies before the
rebellion. After the death of Old major, the animals secretly plan the rebellion, even though they are unsure when it would occur. The rebellion occurred
when Jones passes out and forgets to feed the animals, who break into the store–shed in search of a meal. Jones and his men arrive, they whip ... Show

He reminiscences this song because it relates to the life the animals or comrades are currently living. The animals adopt this song as their own and
begin to sing it every Sunday, just like we do in our church (meaning choir not the song specifically). In the second stanza of the chant, it quotes, "How
does the life of an animal pass? In endless drudgery. What's the first lesson an animal learns? To endure its slavery. How does the life of an animal end?
In cruel butchery." He quotes this chant because his knows that life on the farm is not a fairytale, and that sooner or later, all of the farm animals would
have the same dreadful fate, which is a good reason for them to start the rebellion and overthrow their current owner, Mr.

Propaganda In George Orwell's Animal Farm
"Animal Farm" theme essay The story "Animal Farm" written by George Orwell is inspired by the Russian Revolution of 1917. Just as propaganda was
used in the revolution by Joseph Stalin, it was also used by the pigs in the animal farm. I find this to be really important because everything that had a
positive or negative outcome was caused and reflected off the use of propaganda. Squealer was the one who would brainwash the animals into thinking
wrongly of the commandments and lying to the animals that the milk and apples were an absolute necessity for the pigs. It was mandatory for the
animals on animal farm to follow the rules of animalism. Animalism is the key outlines of Old Major's speech that Napoleon, Snowball, and Squealer
found to be. Within three months, the pigs taught themselves to read and write. The pigs announced to the animals that they have succeeded in reducing
the rules of animalism to the seven commandments. "The seven commandments ran thus: 1.whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy, 2.wehatever goes
upon four legs or has wings is a friend, 3. No animal shall wear clothes, 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed, 5.No animal shall drink alcohol, 6.No animal
shall kill any other animal, 7. All animals are equal". Pg. 16 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 6, the animals found out that the pigs were sleeping in Jones's bed. They immediately recalled back to the fourth commandment which they
remember stated, "No animal shall sleep in a bed". When they went back to go check at the barn, the commandment read "No animal shall sleep in a
bed with sheets". Pg.44 Since it was on the wall, the animals just assumed that they forgot the mentioning of the sheets. But as the reader, I knew
squealer changed them. He changed the commandments to cover up for napoleon and the other pigs. He made everyone believe that they remembered
wrongly of the commandments, in this, he was using

Brave New World And Animal Farm
In the novels Brave New World and Animal Farm, the common aspect is the idea of a totalitarian dystopian society. While Animal Farm started out as
an attempt to achieve a perfect utopia, and then drifted into a totalitarian dystopia, Brave New World pretends to be a utopia, while hiding the fact that it
is actually a totalitarian dystopia the whole time. There is a fine line between a utopia and a totalitarian dystopia. Animal Farm is established with moral
intentions. The neglected animals of the farm rise up to overthrow Jones, and imagine a society of fairness based on the experiences of old major, in
which all animals will have justice and won't be demoralized by the people anymore. Old Major quickly establishes that "Whatever goes upon two legs
is an enemy. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend" (Orwell 11). He also reminds them that the ways of man are completely immoral,
and they must not ever implement any of their habits. Giving the animals a shared enemy is an effective way to control the population. That is the first
sign of a totalitarian state emerging in Animal Farm. Instead of the entire farm determining rules together, two pigs frame the rules of Animalism for the
supposed utopian–like Animal Farm. They read: "1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. 2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a
friend. 3. No animal shall wear clothes. 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed. 5. No animal shall drink alcohol. 6. No animal shall kill any

You Can Put Wings On A Pig
My understand of the quote, "You can put wings on a pig, but you don't make it an eagle", by William A Clinton is almost saying you can put a crown
on your head, but it don't make you a princess. What I mean by that is just because you like someone and you dress like them, does not make you them.
To make a better understanding is saying, you want to change your hair color from brown to red, and you put a red wig on and assume your hair color
changed, but you inteqal have to dye your hair red to have red hair. The red wig may look like you have red hair, but you don't really have the red hair.
To connect that to the quote I can say, you put wings on a pig thinking that if you do, it will turn into an eagle, but just because you think the

The Role Of Disaster In The Bay Of Pigs
Disaster in the Bay of Pigs The early to mid–1900's are prominently known for World War II, the tragic loss of human life during those conflicts, and
how global unrest changed the economy and alliances of the world. However, when the second world war ended in 1945 there was a period of
approximately 40 years of a standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union, these years are also known as the Cold War. One of the worst
disasters of the Cold War is known as the invasion of The Bay of Pigs which occurred in Cuba at the direction of the Central Intelligence Agency. The
Bay of Pigs Invasion was a tragedy due to the false sense of confidence, the lives that were needlessly lost, and because it led to the Cuban Missile
Crisis.

Animal Farm Russian Revolution
During the Russian Revolution that started in 1917, there were many influencing people of power that changed the way history is written. A political
allegory written by George Orwell in 1943–1944 called Animal Farm portrays the difficulties and moments of joy, if there were any, in Soviet Union
while the Stalin was it's great leader. Courageous Orwell who represented Joseph Stalin as a pig named Napoleon, struggled with finding a publisher
back then because it was inappropriate to compare Stalin with a pig and American and English publishers considered it as attack on Russians. But,
Stalin was not the only animal in the Soviet Union. Many people, ordinary or not, are presented as citizens of Animal Farm.
Orwell got the inspiration for Animal Farm from seeing a little boy, perhaps ten years old, driving a huge carthorse along a narrow path, whipping it
whenever it tried to turn and struck him that if only such animals became aware of their strength we should have no power over them, and that men
exploit animals in much the same way as the rich exploit the proletariat (Williams 40). The story begins with the character of Old Major, an aging boar,
who is telling animals on farm about a dream he had, a dream that all animals are equal and freed from human tyranny. His speech is really ... Show

Animal Farm Summary
Animal Farm begins on Manor Farm. with Mr. Jones being the owner of the farm. The animals all assemble in the barn to hear a respected pig named
Old Major speak. Old Major says his dream of a world without men and ruled by animals. He says all their suffering is because of men. He also says
that 2 legs are enemies and 4 legs and wings are friends. Three days later, Old Major dies and the animals begin to prepare for rebellion. The
preparations are led by the pigs, Snowball, Napolean, and Squealer. The pigs call his speech Animalism. They hold weekly meetings to teach the rest of
the animals about Animalism. The rebellion comes sooner than expected when Mr. Jones forgets to feed the animals. the animals drive Mr. Jones off the
farm and take over and change the name to Animal Farm. The pigs paint the 7 commandments of animalism on the barn wall. Most of the animals
believe strongly in Animalism and work hard on the farm. However there is some inequality on the farm. The pigs, quickly become the leaders. Despite
the fact that they supervise the farm work instead of performing any labor themselves, the pigs begin claiming extra milk and apples. Squeler explains
this saying that Mr. Jones might return if the pigs are not given what they need to run the farm. Soon after, Mr. Jones does return to recapture the farm.

Abuse Of Power In Animal Farm By George Orwell
The story "Animal Farm," by George Orwell has many themes. Major themes include theme of oppression, suffering, injustice, corruption, and class
distinction. The theme of corruption is shown with how the pigs act after they take power. The basis of the animals rebellion was founded on 7
commandments. The pigs either altered or removed all of them during their reign. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy, and whatever goes upon
four legs or has wings is a friend were the first two. They removed these and replaced it with "four legs good– two legs better," so that the pigs
themselves could interact with humans and walk on two legs themselves. The third commandment is "no animal shall wear clothes." They removed this
one completely as well so that they could wear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They changed "no animal shall drink alcohol" to "no animal; shall drink alcohol to excess." All of these changes done as an abuse of power to showcase
the class distinction between them and the rest of the animals. In order to further oppress the other animals they added "without cause" to the sixth
commandment; "no animal shall kill another animal." The pigs had their dogs execute any animals that worked against them to end any forms of
rebellions against themselves. All of the animal deaths were unjust, but the death of Boxer stands out. Boxer is dedicated to the pigs, and worked
tirelessly for them. He states throughout the book "I will work harder." He is repaid with being turned into glue when he can no longer work,
showcasing the severe injustices being done by the ruling pigs. "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others." The change of the seventh
commandment was evident in every action the ruling pigs took. They fueled a system full of class distinction, putting the pigs and the dogs above the

Analysis Of Black Sabbath's Song 'War Pigs'
Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" World War II brought the Greatest Generation together. Vietnam tore the Baby Boomers apart–Jim Webb. Many civilians
viewed the Vietnam War as an extreme atrocity that came at the high price of American lives. In the 1960's many rock and roll bands were influenced
by the war and expressed their thought through songs. One such band was Black Sabbath and the song was "War Pigs." Black Sabbath was an English
rock band known to be one of the most influential heavy meant bands of all time especially during the Vietnam War ("Black Sabbath"). This particular
song titled "War Pigs" expresses the idea that politicians are making innocent soldier fight for their political prowess and pride. The pigs in this the song
are the politician, hungry for war while they "hid themselves way," even though they were the ones that "started the war." The politicians are not
humans, but filthy pigs hungry for destruction, death, and power. Sabbath got the idea from war stories they heard when they did a show at an American

In fact, many often misinterpreted as a Satanic song about evil ("War Pigs by Black Sabbath Songfacts"). This is easy to see why. In the song, you have

original title of "War Pigs" was "Walpurgis," dealing with the witches' Sabbath. "Walpurgis is sort of like Christmas for Satanists. However, when
Black Sabbath brought it to the record company, they thought 'Walpurgis' sounded too satanic, and that is when they turned it into 'War Pigs' ("War

Satire In Animal Farm Essay
Published in 1945, Animal Farm, is a political satire of the Soviet Union (Gottlieb 141). Prior to the Russian Revolution, Russia was ruled by Tzar
Nicholas II who believed in feudalism, a form of government where the nobility controls the land and where the population had to be at the service of
their ruler. Under the ruling the Tzar Nicholas II thousands of people were suffering from hunger until the Bolsheviks led a revolution to establish
communism. In George Orwell's satirical novel, the author creates an allegory to criticize totalitarian regime by using the setting of a farm and creating
oppression on the lower class and individual characters, by demonstrating corruption, and by creating levels of classes. Orwell presents a class ... Show

The pigs take power over the farm after Mr. Jones leaves for the reason that "they could already read and write perfectly" (Orwell 20). Due to their
intelligence, the 7 Commandments of Animal Farm were written. In contrast, Boxer "was not of first–rate intelligence, but he was universally respected
for his steadiness of character and tremendous powers of work" (Orwell 2). However, Boxer's intelligence made him blind to the truth and only
believed that "Napoleon is always right" (Orwell 37) and said "[he] will work harder". Boxer represents the peasants under the ruling of Stalin, their

Persuasive Essay On Factory Farms
Also, factory farms should be prohibited because they treated animal very inhumane. According to the research, the average number of animal in a
factory farm is about 80,000, but this number include all the big animal, such as cows and pigs. If we focus on the chicken factory farms, we will find
out that number of chickens in the factory farms are a lot more than 80,000. The living spaces for chicken in the factory farms are very small, and most
of the chicken can't even turn around or lie down comfortable or even lock in the cage till they are slaughtered. According to the research, the average
space for egg–laying hens in factory farms are only 67 square inches, and the dimensions of a standard–size sheet of letter paper is 93.5 square inches.

Moreover, the average age for chickens can be five to ten years, and they will need five to six months to be fully grown. But in the factory farms, they
will use antibiotics to make chickens grow faster than usual. For the "meat" chicken, they only need six weeks to reach "market weight" and
slaughtered to produce meat. According to researchers at the University of Arkansas's Division of Agriculture, "If you grew as fast as a chicken, you'd
weigh 349 pounds at age 2" (Gristle, 35). Also, the big animals, such as cows and pigs in the factory farms are living in a cruel situation too. Cows and
pigs are the kinds of animals who live outdoor. If they live in an enclosed environment, they will get sick and depressed, and then they will bite one
another and kill their young in despair. So the factory farms have problem to raise big animal at the beginning. However, the factory farms hire some
scientists to solve this problem. Eventually, the scientists suggested that "dumped antibiotics into the grain they fed the stock; created two–foot–by–

The Acquisition Of Power In George Orwell's Animal Farm
In George Orwell's Animal Farm, Orwell shows his readers that whoever acquires power will soon become corrupt and unfit to be a fair leader. At the
start of the novella, the animals are under the power of Mr. Jones, until they revolt against him and the farmers and capture the farm. All of the animals
are happy, and they make commandments. The animals follow the pigs, but they turn out to be unfair leaders. Though the intentions of the pigs seemed
fair, they were just seeking for power. If the pigs had not deliberately created a false ideology that was attractive and appealing to the animals, they
would not have followed the enforcement of the pigs. The pigs deliberately create a false ideology that is attractive to the common animals. Old Major
creates a song that gets the animals excited about the revolution. The animals are excited because in the song it says that after the revolution, everything
will be beautiful and perfect:"Soon or late the day is coming, tyrant shall be o'erthrown, and the fruitful fields of England, shall be trod by beasts alone.
Rings shall vanish from our noses, and the harness from our back, bit and spur shall rust forever, cruel whips shall no more crack" (Orwell 12). With

Comparing Pippi's A Tale Of Two Pigs
Pigs have not always looked the way they do today. A long time ago, in a farm in the middle of a golden plain there was a farm. This farm was home to
many families of pigs. All of these pigs looked about the same, that is except for Pippi. Pippi was a pig like no other. While all of the other pigs had
pink skin Pippi had skin that was as pink as the inside of a seashell. The other pigs had pointy ears, Pippi's formed a perfect triangle. The other pigs had
brown eyes, Pippi's were the color of chocolate. Finally all of the other pigs walked around with straight tails while Pippi had a tail that was perfectly
curled. All of the other pigs strived to be like Pippi. Most of all they strived to have a tail like Pippi's. "Pippi how can we get a tail like yours?", the pigs
would ask. Pippi would simply reply, "I'm not sure I guess you just have to be lucky." Since Pippi would not tell them, the pigs decided to try and curl
their tails themselves. They first tried wrapping their tails around sticks, but the sticks did not work. They then tried to curl eachothers tails by holding
them. This did not work either. Finally the pigs decided to try ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

pig said. "what is a fairy godpig?" asked the pigs. "I am here to change your tails for you and to teach Pippi over here a lesson" said the fairy godpig.
One by one, using her wand the fairy god pig curled the pigs tails one by one. Soon Pippi did not look so different than the rest and stopped thinking

Abuse Of Power In Animal Farm
Too much control is not always a good thing. A lot of examples in history and in the novel proves that is absolute power corrupts, it corrupts absolutely.
An example would be Hitler. Adolf Hitler could've had control over Germany but he wanted his way. He wanted all the Jews extinct. Because he was
having his way, he had started a war. That war corrupted all of the power he had. In George Orwell's novel, "Animal Farm", the main characters are
animals and they want to be equal, but having too much power might not let that happen. The elder pig, Old Major of Manor Farm, starts off by making
an announcement. He includes in his announcement that one day animals will have revenge against humans, taking charge of them, and treating them
unjustly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So Snowball (one of the pigs), made seven commandments that every animal must follow, which includes, 1. Whatever walks on two legs is the enemy.
2. Whatever walks on four legs or has wings is a friend. 3. No animal shall wear clothes. 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed. 5. No animal shall drink
alcohol. 6. No animal shall kill any other animal. 7. All animals are equal. The main point that they were trying to make was that all animals are equal.
It was later discovered that food was missing and the pigs did no work, the pigs supervised the other animals doing their work. "The pigs did not
actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge, it was natural that they should assume the leadership" (Orwell
27). Napoleon's intensions changed throughout the novel, he changed the alcohol commandment from no drinking at all to no drinking to excess. Most
commandments were being corrupted. One day, Napoleon looked at the commandments again and one he noticed he didn't change. The last
commandment which before stated, that all animals are equal, now says "all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others". In conclusion, I
think the animal revolution was a failure because when a community is governed in a totalitarian way, the feelings of suspicion and resentment would

Greed And Power In George Orwell's Animal Farm
Animal Farm was written by George Orwell and published in 1999 by Transaction Publishers. This novel takes place on Manor Farm in England. The
animals on the farm revolt against the farmer because of his cruel and unfair treatment. They set out to develop their own society free of human rule
where all animals are treated equally, they called it Animal Farm. At first, life on Animal Farm is everything they dreamed about, but eventually the
society they create falls apart and life seems worse than before. This novel demonstrates how greed and power can corrupt a society and how easily
words can influence and persuade minds. At the beginning a boar named Old Major calls a meeting with the animals to discuss their living conditions ...

I'm not sure if the pigs are really "good" leaders in the sense that they are moral and just. Perhaps a different adjective would be more accurate.
Napoleon seems to be the true leader of Animal Farm – he's the one who gives the inspirational speeches (besides the speech Old Major made), rallies
the animals to revolt in support of "Animalism", and creates the illusion that Snowball is causing many of their misfortune. He also uses ... Show more

They are able to mask their consolidation of power into making others believe that they are "good leaders." Through the work of pigs like Squealer,
Napoleon is able to convince the animals of his authenticity of leadership as well as how he is looking out for the animals' interest. In reality, Napoleon
and the other pigs are only convinced of securing and enhancing their own power. Yet, they are able to persuade the animals that strengthening the pigs'
power is aligned with the advancement of the cause of all animals in the pursuit of animalism tenets. This is effective leadership from the most
pragmatic point of view because it is able to secure one's own position with the security of public support or silencing the power of dissent. In the end, I
am not sure if Orwell sees this as necessarily "good," but rather a statement on how modern leadership is effective in pursuing its own agenda while
being able to convince the body politic that its presence actually advances its own

How To Make Baconbags
Millions of years ago, all animals could fly. Flying horses were called pegai, the flying birds were called birds, and the flying pigs were called winged
baconbags. There were many more flying animals, such as the flying snails and narwhals, but there is not enough space to list them all. All of the
animals in the animal kingdom were ruled by the king of the jungle, the mighty flying gopher. Phil, the flying gopher, ruled over all the animals in the
world, from the lightning fast cheetahs to the nasty sea cucumbers. He was very wise and powerful, and he could always predict the weather or give
advice to an animal in need. He was very busy most of the day, and so he needed a council of animals to make decisions for him. His council of

everyone's wings will be cut off." There were gasps from the crowd. Quickly, the king's servants came and quickly cut off almost every animal's wings.
The birds were smart and flew away before they were trapped. They were angry at the king, so they hatched a plan. It was a rebellion. They secretly
joined up with the other animals and revolted against the king, who was eventually overthrown. The heroic birds attacked the king's army and destroyed
his burrow. They were honored and were the only animals that got to keep their wings. All animals were made to rule themselves, and everyone was
free. It was better that way. Now, most animals don't have wings, all because of a

Animal Farm Quote Analysis
The pigs in Animal Farm by George Orwell are of much intelligence, which was not always a tremendous thing for the other animals. Education can be
a powerful thing in society, which Orwell has made clear, but the pigs take advantage of it as much as possible. The animals give in to the pigs'
domination in Animal Farm by not being as smart as the pigs, Napoleon using the dogs to instill fear, and the pigs taking advantage of their own
intelligence. In particular, the other animals on the farm are not as bright. It does not help that the pigs do not put in much time to try to even teach them
the alphabet. Due to the fact that the other animals are not as intelligent, they just go along with what the pigs inform them of. In the novel, the ... Show

Near the beginning of the novel, the milk had been stolen, but the other animals did not think much of it. Soon enough it is learned that the pigs actually
took the milk to drink for themselves. The pigs' excuse for taking the milk and additional food, is that they are needed in order to stay intelligent.
During this time Napoleon remarks, "Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science comrades) contains substances absolutely necessary to the
well–being of a pig" (35–36). Even in todays' society, it is most likely for a person with a better education to be more dominant than one without. The
pigs use this to their advantage by saying because they are the most intelligent, they must be the leaders. The pigs also continuously edit the Seven
Commandments to allow them to do whatever they please. Naturally, the other animals are somewhat confused by this, but they let it go acting like it

How Did Napoleon Break The Commandments In Animal Farm
In the book Animal Farm, Napoleon, the ruler of the farm broke many commandments, killed animals and made deals with humans, if the system of
checks and balances was in place many of these things wouldn't have happened.
One of the many commandments Napoleon broke was no animal should kill any other animal (Orwell 25). Napoleon broke this commandment when he
rounded all the animals up and asked if any of them sided with Snowball, if so Napoleon would kill the animal. Napoleon would also kill animals for
small crimes such as stealing. Some of the other animals on the farm thought that there was no good reason to kill any animal that met with Snowball.
Clover thought that the animals would create a society of freedom and equality when they overthrew the humans on the farm, but instead they created a
world of "slaughter and terror" (Orwell 86).The commandment was later changed to no animal shall kill any other animal without cause to protect
Napoleon, keep his best interest in mind and to justify his actions. If the system of checks and balances was in place the commandment could have

The pigs also taught the sheep to say "Four legs good, two legs better," (Orwell 134). the second commandment was broken by the pigs because they

legislative branch could have ruled these commandment breaks being unconstitutional. The original commandments state that whatever goes on two

Seven Commandments Of Animalism
P: Examining the Commandments The Seven Commandments of animalism reflected the original desire for detachment from any resemblance of
humanistic lifestyle. Each commandment expanded upon animal rights and animal equality, and setting said party apart from humans, and branded
them as enemies. The original comments went as followed: 1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. 2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has
wings, is a friend. 3. No animal shall wear clothes. 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed. 5. No animal shall drink alcohol. 6. No animal shall kill any other
animal. 7. All animals are equal. The animals followed the commandments paying no heed to the original writings, which lead to their downfall due to
the multiple instances of the altering of commandments. Each alteration led to change on the farm. The first commandment tampered with was the
fourth commandment, which states, "no animal shall sleep in a bed". The original intent was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Used as a way to assert their high standing, the pigs changed the commandment to assert their total control over Animal Farm. Following the pigs'
learning how to stand on two feet, the commandment amended to "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others." Following the change,
the animals experienced worsening mistreatment, already more poor than that of Jones' time. Afterwards, the pigs became friends with humans, and
soon had taken the visage of the enemy. "The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man, and from man to
pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." (Orwell, 139). The animals compare pigs to the human, and

What Is Snowball An Allegory In Animal Farm
Animal Farm is an allegory by George Orwell and focuses on an animal revolution and the change from pig to man. The only pig that is not like
humans is Snowball. Snowball in the story represents Leo Trotsky as they were both intellectual, second in command, and kicked out of their respective
groups. Snowball is a smart, strategic, inventive pig that really cares about the farm. Snowball is shown as a good pig that is not like the other pigs. That
reason is probably why Napoleon chased Snowball away. After Snowball is gone Napoleon precedes to change the memories of Snowball in the eyes of
the other animals, but Snowball really did want to help the farm. Snowball shows he is smart enough to solve different types of problems, Napoleon is
just smarter. One example of Snowball's intelligence is, " 'A bird's wing, comrades,' he said, 'is an organ of propulsion and not of manipulation' (12)."
This shows Snowball can think up amazing answers and thoughts. This quote also shows that as an intellectual pig, Snowball knows and understands
many different things. In addition Snowball is smart at many things, "... for it was Snowball who was the best at writing..."(9). This shows Snowball as

Loss Of Freedom In Animal Farm By George Orwell
Nelson Mandela once said that, "For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of
others." If we say that this is true then the animals, except the leader pigs, in Animal Farm, were not free. George Orwell creates the leaders to be
cunning and deceptive while the followers are illiterate and passive making it very easy for the follower's freedom to be lost and the leader's power to
be gained. In Animal Farm, George Orwell demonstrates that the pigs are cunning right from the beginning. He says so plainly and without any sugar
coating that, "The work of teaching and organizing the others fell naturally upon the pigs, who were generally recognized as being the cleverest of the
animals," Orwell 15. By using common knowledge on the farm that pigs are the smartest animals they put themselves in a position of power in the very
beginning knowing that now they don't control much but in time they can gain absolute power. This demonstrates cunningness because they not only
have the animals respect and trust but they also gain power. The pigs are not only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Depth Of Misunderstanding. Consider The Depth Of The
The Depth of Misunderstanding
Consider the depth of the misunderstanding in the following quote from "Critical Thinking, Second Edition," by Richard Paul and Linda Elder
Assumption: An assumption is something we take for granted or presuppose. Usually it is something we previously learned and do not question. It is
part of our system of beliefs. We assume our beliefs to be true and use them to interpret the world about us. . . .
If our belief is a sound one, our assumption is sound. If our belief is not sound, our assumption is not sound. Beliefs, and hence assumptions, can be
unjustified or justified, depending upon whether we do or do not have good reasons for them.

Keep in mind that this is a dedicated brother in Christ. This isn't an enemy, but a fellow servant of King Jesus.
When intellectuals throw around these kinds of phrases, it takes time to untangle the statements. It takes effort to know what's being said. Let's break
down these two statements into normal English. We'll unscramble this into a simple statement down the page. First, let's understand these phrases from
this Christian intellectual:
"It makes sense" o If something makes sense, it's rational or reasonable. o To be rational is to be sane.
"Axioms are presuppositions assumed true." o They're unknown things (made–up) that are called "true" without proof that they're true.
"from which theorems are deduced" o When something is deduced, that means deductive reasoning has been used. o Sound deductive reasoning cannot
be based on made–up stuff. It requires a premise that's known to be true. o A theorem is a statement that's been proved by sound deductive reasoning. o
Yet this Christian intellectual said that sound deductive reasoning can be based on made–up stuff.
What's this Christian intellectual saying? We can already see the internal conflicts. The thinking is very deceptive and clever. Not that this man is trying
to deceive. That's not his intent at all. Yet the natural human mind in each of us deceives us from time to time. It takes a bit of work to sort through the
nonsense. The statement says that axioms (made–up things) are used as the

Commandments In George Orwell's Animal Farm
The Seven Commandments put in effect? I think not. Power corrupts the mind causing horrific problems. Commandments are laws for a community to
follow to make life simple. In Animal Farm, the commandments were originally utilized but later changed (on pages 24– 25). If commandments are
changed it usually is done to benefit a person or group. This essay will show you the corruption and alterations of their commandments. The first two
commandments consist of, "Whatever goes on two legs are enemies." And "whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend." They are later
changed to help the pigs gain power. The first commandment was broken by the pigs themselves. Near the end of the book, they had begun to stand on

The commandment was changed by the pigs to say all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others (Orwell 134). At the end of the
book, Napoleon and the other pigs have more power and control over the farm than any other animal. Also the pigs started to wear clothing, walk on
their two hind legs and make deals with humans and the pigs were the only ones that did these things. The pigs also slept in beds, eat better food than
the other animals and drank alcohol. At the end of the book Napoleon says, "To the prosperity of The Manor Farm!" Napoleon changes the farm's name
back to Manor Farm because he was starting to act like a human, walk like a human and eat like a human. Not only did the pigs start to act like humans,
earlier in the book, Napoleon put a ration on the hens food when they didn't want to give up their eggs. Because of the ration put on the hens nine of
them died. This proves that Napoleon cared more about certain animal's lives more than others. Throughout the book Napoleon tended to favor the dogs

Analysis Of George Orwell's Animal Farm
"No animal in England is free. The life of an animal is misery and slavery: that is the plain truth." These are the words of George Orwell explaining the
imprisonment of communism in his allegory Animal Farm. He tells the story of differences between presentation and actuality in his book. Orwell
shows the importance of how people will not rebel if there is an illusion of freedom. In the book, the pigs, who were the leaders of the farm, gives an
illusion of freedom by gradually changing the rules from all animals are equal to all animals are equal but some are more equal. None of the animals
were able to notice the small changes that the pigs were doing to the farm. When a few animals began to see what Napoleon, the pig and ... Show more

These lyrics tells the animals that there is a reason they have to work so hard, and that's because they want to stay independent. "Beasts of England"
helps keep the animals from protesting against Napoleon's rules. It makes the animals think that the harder they work, the more freedom they will have,
and the better their lives will be. Since the animals were working so hard, they think they have freedom from more free time or plentiful food, but they
don't notice, until the last moment, that their food portions have gone down over time and all they do is work. The animals are convinced that anything
with two legs are enemies and anything thing with four legs or have wings are comrades. In the beginning of the book, Old Major, an old pig, convinces
the farm animals that they should rebel against Manor Farm, and he tells them about how abusive and careless the farmers are. A line in the book states,
"the only good human being is a dead one" (Orwell 43). Old Major has created the idea of friendship and safety between all of the animals forever, but
hatred and danger against the humans. So, when Jones is kicked out, they think they have freedom. This makes the animals think that they can rely on

Whatever goes upon four legs or has wings is a friend. And remember also that in fighting against man, we must not come to resemble him. Even when you have conquered him, do not adopt his vices. No animal must ever live in a house, or sleep in a bed, or wear clothes, or drink alcohol, or smoke tobacco, or touch money, or engage in trade. All habits of Man are evil. And above all, no animal must ever tyrannize over his own kind. Weak or strong, clever or simple, we are all brothers. No animal must ever kill any other animal. All animals are equal." ... • 7. Comparison Of The Pigs In George Orwell's Animal Farm At the start of the novel, George Orwell's Animal Farm describes the pigs to be the "cleverest of the animals". This is clearly an advantage and so leads to the pigs taking over the farm. There is a sense of leadership very soon after Old Major's death as the three pigs, Snowball, Napoleon and Squealer arrange meetings with the other animals and already begin to give orders. Later in the novel, the pigs battle for power over the animals begins to grow and the roles and functions surrounding Snowball and Squealer is on rocky grounds. Snowball, a clever pig, tends to be loyal, brave, and outgoing. These are just a few excellent qualities of a leader. Squealer, best known of the porker pigs with a silver–tongued. Deception proved to be his trademark, and he became Napoleon's right–hand man. Both have had their share of leadership on the farm, yet both have had their share of conflict as well. Orwell describes Snowball as a "more vivacious pig than Napoleon." We can see this whilst he is still on the farm, as he is always doing things to benefit the whole of the farm, not just himself whereas Napoleon is. "Snowball made a little speech, emphasizing the need for all animals to be ready to die for Animal farm if need be." It is evident from this quote that Snowball is very passionate about the farm and will do anything to improve it. His passion for the farm is very much shown at the battle of the cowshed where he is in charge of the attack against Jones and other farmers. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Religion In George Orwell's 'Animal Farm' Lizdha De La Fuente Ms. Annen Ap English IV 10 February 2016 Animal Farm Essay Religion is perceived as a positive establishment by society. However, George Orwell in the novel, Animal Farm, flips the coin of religion to show his readers another side. Orwell through the characters explores and exposes as a manipulative whelm animals can take a "positive" and make it negative. The character deviation and symbolism in this novel Old major, a pig, who is tired of being mistreated by human beings and believe the farm would be in better condition without Mr. Jones, initiates the "movement" that consisted of a rebellion that overthrow all human beings from this farm. Of course, the farm animals believe Old Major because he is known to be wiser animal. Unfortunately, Old Major dies before the rebellion. After the death of Old major, the animals secretly plan the rebellion, even though they are unsure when it would occur. The rebellion occurred when Jones passes out and forgets to feed the animals, who break into the store–shed in search of a meal. Jones and his men arrive, they whip ... How does the life of an animal end? In cruel butchery." • 11. Propaganda In George Orwell's Animal Farm "Animal Farm" theme essay The story "Animal Farm" written by George Orwell is inspired by the Russian Revolution of 1917. Just as propaganda was used in the revolution by Joseph Stalin, it was also used by the pigs in the animal farm. I find this to be really important because everything that had a positive or negative outcome was caused and reflected off the use of propaganda. Squealer was the one who would brainwash the animals into thinking wrongly of the commandments and lying to the animals that the milk and apples were an absolute necessity for the pigs. It was mandatory for the animals on animal farm to follow the rules of animalism. Animalism is the key outlines of Old Major's speech that Napoleon, Snowball, and Squealer found to be. Within three months, the pigs taught themselves to read and write. The pigs announced to the animals that they have succeeded in reducing the rules of animalism to the seven commandments. "The seven commandments ran thus: 1.whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy, 2.wehatever goes upon four legs or has wings is a friend, 3. No animal shall wear clothes, 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed, 5.No animal shall drink alcohol, 6.No animal shall kill any other animal, 7. All animals are equal". Pg. 16 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chapter 6, the animals found out that the pigs were sleeping in Jones's bed. They immediately recalled back to the fourth commandment which they remember stated, "No animal shall sleep in a bed". When they went back to go check at the barn, the commandment read "No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets". Pg.44 Since it was on the wall, the animals just assumed that they forgot the mentioning of the sheets. But as the reader, I knew squealer changed them. He changed the commandments to cover up for napoleon and the other pigs. He made everyone believe that they remembered wrongly of the commandments, in this, he was using ... • 13. Brave New World And Animal Farm In the novels Brave New World and Animal Farm, the common aspect is the idea of a totalitarian dystopian society. While Animal Farm started out as an attempt to achieve a perfect utopia, and then drifted into a totalitarian dystopia, Brave New World pretends to be a utopia, while hiding the fact that it is actually a totalitarian dystopia the whole time. There is a fine line between a utopia and a totalitarian dystopia. Animal Farm is established with moral intentions. The neglected animals of the farm rise up to overthrow Jones, and imagine a society of fairness based on the experiences of old major, in which all animals will have justice and won't be demoralized by the people anymore. Old Major quickly establishes that "Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend" (Orwell 11). He also reminds them that the ways of man are completely immoral, and they must not ever implement any of their habits. Giving the animals a shared enemy is an effective way to control the population. That is the first sign of a totalitarian state emerging in Animal Farm. Instead of the entire farm determining rules together, two pigs frame the rules of Animalism for the supposed utopian–like Animal Farm. They read: "1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. 2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. 3. No animal shall wear clothes. 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed. 5. No animal shall drink alcohol. 6. No animal shall kill any ... • 15. You Can Put Wings On A Pig My understand of the quote, "You can put wings on a pig, but you don't make it an eagle", by William A Clinton is almost saying you can put a crown on your head, but it don't make you a princess. What I mean by that is just because you like someone and you dress like them, does not make you them. To make a better understanding is saying, you want to change your hair color from brown to red, and you put a red wig on and assume your hair color changed, but you inteqal have to dye your hair red to have red hair. The red wig may look like you have red hair, but you don't really have the red hair. To connect that to the quote I can say, you put wings on a pig thinking that if you do, it will turn into an eagle, but just because you think the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role Of Disaster In The Bay Of Pigs Disaster in the Bay of Pigs The early to mid–1900's are prominently known for World War II, the tragic loss of human life during those conflicts, and how global unrest changed the economy and alliances of the world. However, when the second world war ended in 1945 there was a period of approximately 40 years of a standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union, these years are also known as the Cold War. One of the worst disasters of the Cold War is known as the invasion of The Bay of Pigs which occurred in Cuba at the direction of the Central Intelligence Agency. The Bay of Pigs Invasion was a tragedy due to the false sense of confidence, the lives that were needlessly lost, and because it led to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Eventually, ... • 19. Animal Farm Russian Revolution During the Russian Revolution that started in 1917, there were many influencing people of power that changed the way history is written. A political allegory written by George Orwell in 1943–1944 called Animal Farm portrays the difficulties and moments of joy, if there were any, in Soviet Union while the Stalin was it's great leader. Courageous Orwell who represented Joseph Stalin as a pig named Napoleon, struggled with finding a publisher back then because it was inappropriate to compare Stalin with a pig and American and English publishers considered it as attack on Russians. But, Stalin was not the only animal in the Soviet Union. Many people, ordinary or not, are presented as citizens of Animal Farm. Orwell got the inspiration for Animal Farm from seeing a little boy, perhaps ten years old, driving a huge carthorse along a narrow path, whipping it whenever it tried to turn and struck him that if only such animals became aware of their strength we should have no power over them, and that men exploit animals in much the same way as the rich exploit the proletariat (Williams 40). The story begins with the character of Old Major, an aging boar, who is telling animals on farm about a dream he had, a dream that all animals are equal and freed from human tyranny. His speech is really ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With Jones gone, Snowball and Napoleon begin to seize leadership of the farm, and the principles of animalism are quickly adopted as the new governing ideals of the now renamed Animal Farm" (Carr 66). So, Napoleon and Snowball become 'pigs of charge' on the farm because pigs are the most intelligent beings of them all. • 21. Animal Farm Summary Animal Farm begins on Manor Farm. with Mr. Jones being the owner of the farm. The animals all assemble in the barn to hear a respected pig named Old Major speak. Old Major says his dream of a world without men and ruled by animals. He says all their suffering is because of men. He also says that 2 legs are enemies and 4 legs and wings are friends. Three days later, Old Major dies and the animals begin to prepare for rebellion. The preparations are led by the pigs, Snowball, Napolean, and Squealer. The pigs call his speech Animalism. They hold weekly meetings to teach the rest of the animals about Animalism. The rebellion comes sooner than expected when Mr. Jones forgets to feed the animals. the animals drive Mr. Jones off the farm and take over and change the name to Animal Farm. The pigs paint the 7 commandments of animalism on the barn wall. Most of the animals believe strongly in Animalism and work hard on the farm. However there is some inequality on the farm. • 23. Abuse Of Power In Animal Farm By George Orwell The story "Animal Farm," by George Orwell has many themes. Major themes include theme of oppression, suffering, injustice, corruption, and class distinction. The theme of corruption is shown with how the pigs act after they take power. The basis of the animals rebellion was founded on 7 commandments. The pigs either altered or removed all of them during their reign. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy, and whatever goes upon four legs or has wings is a friend were the first two. They removed these and replaced it with "four legs good– two legs better," so that the pigs themselves could interact with humans and walk on two legs themselves. The third commandment is "no animal shall wear clothes." They removed this one completely as well so that they could wear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pigs had their dogs execute any animals that worked against them to end any forms of rebellions against themselves. All of the animal deaths were unjust, but the death of Boxer stands out. Boxer is dedicated to the pigs, and worked tirelessly for them. He states throughout the book "I will work harder." He is repaid with being turned into glue when he can no longer work, showcasing the severe injustices being done by the ruling pigs. "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others." The change of the seventh commandment was evident in every action the ruling pigs took. They fueled a system full of class distinction, putting the pigs and the dogs above the rest of the ... • 29. Satire In Animal Farm Essay Published in 1945, Animal Farm, is a political satire of the Soviet Union (Gottlieb 141). Prior to the Russian Revolution, Russia was ruled by Tzar Nicholas II who believed in feudalism, a form of government where the nobility controls the land and where the population had to be at the service of their ruler. Under the ruling the Tzar Nicholas II thousands of people were suffering from hunger until the Bolsheviks led a revolution to establish communism. According to the research, the average number of animal in a factory farm is about 80,000, but this number include all the big animal, such as cows and pigs. If we focus on the chicken factory farms, we will find out that number of chickens in the factory farms are a lot more than 80,000. The living spaces for chicken in the factory farms are very small, and most of the chicken can't even turn around or lie down comfortable or even lock in the cage till they are slaughtered. But in the factory farms, they will use antibiotics to make chickens grow faster than usual. For the "meat" chicken, they only need six weeks to reach "market weight" and slaughtered to produce meat. According to researchers at the University of Arkansas's Division of Agriculture, "If you grew as fast as a chicken, you'd weigh 349 pounds at age 2" (Gristle, 35). Also, the big animals, such as cows and pigs in the factory farms are living in a cruel situation too. Cows and pigs are the kinds of animals who live outdoor. If they live in an enclosed environment, they will get sick and depressed, and then they will bite one another and kill their young in despair. • 35. The Acquisition Of Power In George Orwell's Animal Farm In George Orwell's Animal Farm, Orwell shows his readers that whoever acquires power will soon become corrupt and unfit to be a fair leader. At the start of the novella, the animals are under the power of Mr. Jones, until they revolt against him and the farmers and capture the farm. All of the animals are happy, and they make commandments. The animals follow the pigs, but they turn out to be unfair leaders. Though the intentions of the pigs seemed fair, they were just seeking for power. If the pigs had not deliberately created a false ideology that was attractive and appealing to the animals, they would not have followed the enforcement of the pigs. While all of the other pigs had pink skin Pippi had skin that was as pink as the inside of a seashell. The other pigs had pointy ears, Pippi's formed a perfect triangle. The other pigs had brown eyes, Pippi's were the color of chocolate. Finally all of the other pigs walked around with straight tails while Pippi had a tail that was perfectly curled. All of the other pigs strived to be like Pippi. Most of all they strived to have a tail like Pippi's. "Pippi how can we get a tail like yours?", the pigs would ask. Pippi would simply reply, "I'm not sure I guess you just have to be lucky." Since Pippi would not tell them, the pigs decided to try and curl their tails themselves. • 39. Abuse Of Power In Animal Farm Too much control is not always a good thing. A lot of examples in history and in the novel proves that is absolute power corrupts, it corrupts absolutely. An example would be Hitler. Adolf Hitler could've had control over Germany but he wanted his way. He wanted all the Jews extinct. Because he was having his way, he had started a war. That war corrupted all of the power he had. In George Orwell's novel, "Animal Farm", the main characters are animals and they want to be equal, but having too much power might not let that happen. It was later discovered that food was missing and the pigs did no work, the pigs supervised the other animals doing their work. "The pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge, it was natural that they should assume the leadership" (Orwell 27). Napoleon's intensions changed throughout the novel, he changed the alcohol commandment from no drinking at all to no drinking to excess. Most commandments were being corrupted. At first, life on Animal Farm is everything they dreamed about, but eventually the society they create falls apart and life seems worse than before. The pig Old Major persuaded them to rebel for the new government "Animalism". The pigs, most notably Napoleon and Snowball, are very persuasive and can utilize publicity and manipulation to achieve their personal goals. In addition, they seem to take advantage of the fact that the other animals are ignorant and highly dependent on authority. Loss Of Freedom In Animal Farm By George Orwell Nelson Mandela once said that, "For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others." If we say that this is true then the animals, except the leader pigs, in Animal Farm, were not free. George Orwell creates the leaders to be cunning and deceptive while the followers are illiterate and passive making it very easy for the follower's freedom to be lost and the leader's power to be gained. In Animal Farm, George Orwell demonstrates that the pigs are cunning right from the beginning. He says so plainly and without any sugar coating that, "The work of teaching and organizing the others fell naturally upon the pigs, who were generally recognized as being the cleverest of the animals," Orwell 15. By using common knowledge on the farm that pigs are the smartest animals they put themselves in a position of power in the very beginning knowing that now they don't control much but in time they can gain absolute power. Consider The Depth Of The The Depth of Misunderstanding Consider the depth of the misunderstanding in the following quote from "Critical Thinking, Second Edition," by Richard Paul and Linda Elder Assumption: An assumption is something we take for granted or presuppose. Usually it is something we previously learned and do not question. It is part of our system of beliefs. We assume our beliefs to be true and use them to interpret the world about us. . . . If our belief is a sound one, our assumption is sound. If our belief is not sound, our assumption is not sound. Beliefs, and hence assumptions, can be unjustified or justified, depending upon whether we do or do not have good reasons for them. This statement from "Critical Thinking, Second Edition" isn't rational. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keep in mind that this is a dedicated brother in Christ. This isn't an enemy, but a fellow servant of King Jesus. When intellectuals throw around these kinds of phrases, it takes time to untangle the statements. It takes effort to know what's being said. Let's break down these two statements into normal English. We'll unscramble this into a simple statement down the page. First, let's understand these phrases from this Christian intellectual: "It makes sense" o If something makes sense, it's rational or reasonable. o To be rational is to be sane. "Axioms are presuppositions assumed true." o They're unknown things (made–up) that are called "true" without proof that they're true. "from which theorems are deduced" o When something is deduced, that means deductive reasoning has been used. o Sound deductive reasoning cannot be based on made–up stuff. It requires a premise that's known to be true. o A theorem is a statement that's been proved by sound deductive reasoning. o Yet this Christian intellectual said that sound deductive reasoning can be based on made–up stuff. What's this Christian intellectual saying? We can already see the internal conflicts. The thinking is very deceptive and clever. Not that this man is trying to deceive. That's not his intent at all. Yet the natural human mind in each of us deceives us from time to time. It takes a bit of work to sort through the nonsense. The statement says that axioms (made–up things) are used as the ... A black guinea pig is crossed with an albino guinea pig, producing 12 black offspring. When the very same albino is crossed with another black guinea pig, 7 black and 5 albinos are obtained. Explain this genetic outcome by writing out the genotypes for the parents, gametes, and offspring in both crosses. First Cross: The fact that all F1 offspring are black suggests that the parents of the first cross were genotype BB x bb (where B=black and b=albino). The gametes produced by the black parent would have carried the B allele, while those produced by the albino parent carried the b allele. The F1 offspring of such a cross would be Bb, and ... Commandments are laws for a community to follow to make life simple. In Animal Farm, the commandments were originally utilized but later changed (on pages 24– 25). If commandments are changed it usually is done to benefit a person or group. This essay will show you the corruption and alterations of their commandments. The first two commandments consist of, "Whatever goes on two legs are enemies." And "whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend." They are later changed to help the pigs gain power. The first commandment was broken by the pigs themselves. Near the end of the book, they had begun to stand on their hind legs along with the humans, making it hard to distinguish which was human and which was an animal. As for the second commandment after they changed it, they started to get involved with the outside world. The made deals with Whympher, also known as the "broker" they made exchanges for alcohol. ... • 70. Animal Farm All Animals Are Comrades Animal Farm is a novel by George Orwell, a socialist in the 1930's, about a farm of animals taking over from the humans and creating their own world. The story reflects the idea of communism and it's political views, in this case the pigs resemble leaders of the communist government. As the animals form the government with their laws and regulations they decide on these final seven commandments, "1. Whatever goes on two legs is an enemy. 2. • 74. Commandment In George Orwell's Animal Farm In the book Animal Farm, Napoleon, the ruler of the farm broke many commandments, killed animals and made deals with humans, the animal system that was set up was a dictatorship. If the farm was a democracy, it would have a system of checks and balances in place, and the societal and political breakdown could have been prevented. Clover thought that the animals would create a society of freedom and equality when they overthrew the humans on the farm, but instead they created a world of "slaughter and terror," (Orwell 86). An example of these tyrannical acts by the leader Napoleon can be demonstrated by him breaking the commandment no animal should kill any other animal (Orwell 25). The commandment was changed by the pigs to say all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others (Orwell 134). At the end of the book, Napoleon and the other pigs have more power and control over the farm than any other animal. Also the pigs started to wear clothing, walk on their two hind legs and make deals with humans and the pigs were the only ones that did these things. The pigs also slept in beds, eat better food than the other animals and drank alcohol. At the end of the book Napoleon says, "To the prosperity of The Manor Farm!" Napoleon changes the farm's name back to Manor Farm because he was starting to act like a human, walk like a human and eat like a human. Not only did the pigs start to act like humans, earlier in the book, Napoleon put a ration on the hens food when they didn't want to give up their eggs. Because of the ration put on the hens nine of them died. This proves that Napoleon cared more about certain animal's lives more than others. Throughout the book Napoleon tended to favor the dogs over the other animals on the farm. He would give the dogs special treatment like when he educated them and feed them better than the other animals. When the dogs were still just puppies they were taken away and given an education. The only animals that received an education where the pigs and the dogs. This abuse of power could have been stopped by the system of checks and balances. • 76. Analysis Of George Orwell's Animal Farm "No animal in England is free. The life of an animal is misery and slavery: that is the plain truth." These are the words of George Orwell explaining the imprisonment of communism in his allegory Animal Farm. He tells the story of differences between presentation and actuality in his book. Orwell shows the importance of how people will not rebel if there is an illusion of freedom. In the book, the pigs, who were the leaders of the farm, gives an illusion of freedom by gradually changing the rules from all animals are equal to all animals are equal but some are more equal. None of the animals were able to notice the small changes that the pigs were doing to the farm. When a few animals began to see what Napoleon, the pig and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These lyrics tells the animals that there is a reason they have to work so hard, and that's because they want to stay independent. "Beasts of England" helps keep the animals from protesting against Napoleon's rules. It makes the animals think that the harder they work, the more freedom they will have, and the better their lives will be. Since the animals were working so hard, they think they have freedom from more free time or plentiful food, but they don't notice, until the last moment, that their food portions have gone down over time and all they do is work. The animals are convinced that anything with two legs are enemies and anything thing with four legs or have wings are comrades. In the beginning of the book, Old Major, an old pig, convinces the farm animals that they should rebel against Manor Farm, and he tells them about how abusive and careless the farmers are. A line in the book states, "the only good human being is a dead one" (Orwell 43). Old Major has created the idea of friendship and safety between all of the animals forever, but hatred and danger against the humans. So, when Jones is kicked out, they think they have freedom. This makes the animals think that they can rely on each other. The pig have wisdom and leadership which creates a strong bond between them and the animals.
