1. What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing the product?
Thought out this project I have learnt so much about so many types
of technology and about technology that I never even knew existed.
I fist and most important thing I learnt
about was my blog I used to upload all my
course work too, before this project I had
never had a blog before for anything so I
never knew how to upload links or embed
videos but shortly I began to learn and it
became easier and easier and I eventually
got the hang of it all.
The second thing I learnt about was the filming process and how
many pieces of kit I really needed as when I started I though it would
be easy as everything would be there but I soon learnedthat I need
much more than I though.
Firstly we need the camera which I already new
about, for this project we used my camera which
was a canon EOS 1100D, which as well as taking
still pictures took videos. For me this was easy as
I knew how to use my camera the only slight
problem we had was that it was running out of
battery towards the end so people started to panic but luckily it
never ran out and we got the filming all done but just incase we did
have a back up camera. While using the camera we got the know how
to use the zoom and focus as even thought the camera focuses
automatically we had a fewproblems focusing it but we got thought
it.
Other technology we had to have on set while filming were lights, the
first time we were filming I think we under estimated how dark it got
and although we had thought about this before we only had a few
touches and It wasn’t all the light we needed. So on the second time
we filmed we came with a few more lights and torches as well as at
an earlier time. Also before hand we were thinking about using a
microphone which would plug in to the camera to make the diegetic
sound clearer, yet we had a problem that the plug would not fit into
the hole on the camera so in the end we didn’t use it, but the quality
of the sound came out fine.

2. Then after all the filming came the editing for me
this was the hardest part, as I had never used final
cut pro before I expected it to be hard, though even
though at the beginning it was changeling as we
kept on editing it got easier and easier and me and
my whole group knew how to use final cut really
well by the end, as if we ever got stuck we would
watch videos on you tube about how to work it so
we could pick it up the techniques. Thought out using final cut I
learnt many things like about all the different transitions there are
from one shot to anther, how to add sounds on top of the clips to
increase the diegetic sounds and to add non diegetic sound. I also
learnt how to add titles in as we had to add our title to our film
‘seeking possession’ onto out opening to I learnt how to have it fade
in from red writing to black then fade out, we also used text to show
the date and time.
Also while editing our film opening we
used one of piece of software called
‘Virtual DJ Pro 7’. We used this piece of
software to edit our music in, yet this
software was easier to use as there
wasn’t as many options and we were
only changing the tone and speed of the
music slightly.
I feel though that all then technology I used like the ones I used
before this project then the ones I only found out how to use in this
project will all come in handy in the future.
