From this question we found out that, if people ever see a billboard it’s usually located in
the centre of town rather than anywhere else. This helps us to pick where we’d place our
Billboard. However as a billboard in the rural parts of Leicester may also be effective
because they’d not be expected so it would stand out more. This question was important
to ask because it allowed us to see if people even take notice of billboards, to improve on
this question we could further ask if they’re affected by them. If they see a billboard then
feel informed and interested enough to go buy/see what's being advertised

This question allowed us to find out what they find effective about a billboard, the
findings were that the images used are important as well as the colours and
location. This allows us to use these findings and maker out magazine effective
by using appropriate colours and images, but also making sure the location is
somewhere that people will take notice. Within the city center would be effective
but it’s always busy so nobody really gets the time to just stop and read a
billboard, unless there’s traffic. So this means that we really need to think of
where to place it.

From this question we discovered what people find effective when looking at a product, bright
colours are very important when looking at a billboard, this means that in our magazine
billboard we will be using bright colours that stand out. As well as this we will be adding short
bits of information for example the name of the magazine and dates so the people viewing the
billboard have a chance to read it all quickly and effectively. As billboards are normally located
on busy streets people don’t have lots of time to read it so having short bits of text would be
easier and effective.

were that colour and images were what catches the viewers eyes the most. This means in
our billboard we will focus on the colours and images In order to make it more eye-
catching. This question could be further detailed and ask why they catch their eye, this
would allow us to find out why certain things attract people to read a billboard.

This question allowed us to read into what article people would like to read, the finding were
that they like to read about fashion and beauty. These answers may be different if we asked a
wider age range of people, this means that we can’t just do fashion and beauty articles because
it may not be appealing to an older audience. So to get further insight we may consider asking
some older people.

From this question we were able to gather the appropriate information in terms of our
website, it has allowed us to understand what people find interesting when looking at
a magazine website and what makes them want to read it. Images seem to be very
pleasing for people, as well as the text they use. If it looks interesting then they’re
more likely to read it. So when completing our website we should be sure to make the
images on the cover interesting as well as the text have interesting subheadings and
appear interesting a worth a read.

From this question we’ve discovered that people would expect to see beauty, fashion and
things in Leicester. This has helped us recognise the type of content we need inside our
magazine website. Having hyperlinked pages taking you to the various different articles is
an easy was to split up the page and can look neat and clean if the content is split into
different labels. However it’s possible that if you ask an older target market the results
may differ according to age and stereotypically what they prefer to read.

From this question we were able to collect information about the colour pallet they’d like to
have on the website and if they’d like it to be the same scheme as the billboard. From the
results we discovered that people would like to have the same colour scheme as the billboard
and they’d like to see bright colours. This means that in our magazine we will be adding a
similar colour scheme across both magazine website and billboard.

Megan-I like the colour scheme in both of the magazine websites, I like the layout of the ELLE magazine
but I feel that the UrbanFox one is a little simple.
Paige- I like both of the magazine websites, I like how the UrbanFox one has the latest editions on the
front page, however I don’t like how basic it looks on the front as there are no labels like on the ELLE
one.
Katie- I like both of the magazine and I agree with Megan, I feel that the UrbanFox one is a little too
simple and plain.

12. CONCLUSION
• THIS FOCUS GROUP HELPED US TO SEE HOW DIFFERENT PEOPLE THINK, AND
HOW THEY THINK A GOOD EFFECT MAGAZINE, WEBSITE AND BILLBOARD WILL
LOOK. THIS WILL HELP US IN OUR FINAL DESIGN AS WE CAN SEE WHAT PEOPLE
LIKE AND DISLIKE ABOUT A MAGAZINE.
