The document summarizes the results of a questionnaire given to test an audience for a pop punk music magazine. It outlines that:
- The same audience that provided feedback in an initial questionnaire was given the final magazine to test appeal.
- Results were combined between genders as the magazine aimed to appeal to both.
- Open-ended questions gathered suggestions on improving weaker areas of the magazine.
- Responses identified popular features like the color scheme, main article, and masthead while also providing ideas on expanding representation and layout.
- A majority felt the magazine represented pop punk and would appeal to the target audience, though some noted needing more images and diversity.
2. I gave my second
questionnaire to
the same people
who answered
my first
questionnaire so
that I could see if
the final product
would appeal to
them.
When recording
the results I
decided to
combine both
genders results as
the product
appeals to both
genders and so
therefore it
doesn’t make a
difference whether
the results were
from males or
females.
I have asked the
audience what
could make the
magazine
better, and so
therefore focusing
on aspect of the
magazine that
weren’t so
good, so that I
could get a better
understanding of
features that could
be improved.
By asking range
of open and
closed questions
I can fully
understand
which aspects
worked
well, and find
out whether the
target audience
would actually
purchase it and
why they would/
wouldn’t.
3. 1. Do you think my music magazine represents
the genre of pop punk?
Yes
No
My results show that the majority think that my final product represents the
pop punk genre well and that overall it was successful in fulfilling it’s purpose
of appealing to those who listen to pop punk music.
4. 2. Do the bands featured relate to this genre?
Yes
No
Alike question one, the results show that a majority of the target
audience for this question also said that the bands featured link well
with the genre of music. This is because I tried to make the featured
artistes as close to famous pop punk musicians as possible so that it
would be as professional as possible.
5. 3. What is your favourite feature of the magazine?
Answers given included:
• Colour scheme
• Main article
• Photographs
• Masthead with guitar image
• Different fonts used on front page
Therefore, this shows that these features appealed to my target
audience and so were successful when designing my page. Also, the
most common feature was the main article, and so I think this worked
well as it appealed to a lot of my target audience and was an important
feature of my magazine.
6. 4. What do you think I could do differently next time?
Answers given included:
• A larger range of images used
• Double page spread could use more pictures
• Some features placed tidier
• Different ethnical groups of people included as artistes
If I were to improve my magazine I would definitely make sure that I
included more artistes in different positions such as further away from
the camera, so that it is more interesting to look at. I would also place
some features much more professionally as I think that there are some
areas of the magazine, e.g. the magazine name on the double page
spread, which looks untidy and out of place, and so next time I will
arrange it differently.
7. 5. What features of the magazine are clear and
interesting?
Answers given included:
• Images are well presented and are taken in different
settings.
• Pages look like there is a lot going on.
• The layout of the magazine is slightly tilted and so
makes the magazine unique.
• The masthead includes an image of a guitar.
By asking this question I have therefore found out which features of
the magazine worked well and so next time if I make something
similar I can use similar features that I knew worked well this time. I
have also found out that these particular features attracted the target
audience and so I was successful overall in doing this.
8. 6. Do you think this would appeal to people who are in
the target audience and do you think it would sell? Why?
Yes
No
A higher majority of people said yes and so shows that I was successful
in creating a product which would appeal to the target audience and
would be sold in shops next to other music magazines.
9. 6. Do you think this would appeal to people who are in the
target audience and do you think it would sell? Why?
Yes, reasons included:
• Eye catching
• Artistes appeal to those
who listen to genre
• Many features being
shown on front cover
• Competitions and free
gifts being available
No, reasons included:
• Not enough images on
the front page
• Only one type of
ethical group being
represented
Although a majority said that my magazine would appeal to the target
audience and that it would be bought in shops, some said that it
wouldn’t and the reasons given were mainly focused on the pictures
used. If I were to produce my magazine again I would definitely
include more ethical groups into my images and make sure they were
represented more, so that it would appeal to a larger target audience.
