This document outlines the risks and safety precautions for filming a music video in a punk environment. Key risks include fire hazards due to limited exits, noise pollution disturbing neighbors, trip hazards from unmaintained areas, and back injuries from heavy equipment. To mitigate these risks, the film crew will position themselves near exits, use bamboo drumsticks to reduce noise, carefully remove trip hazards wearing gloves, and evenly distribute heavy loads to prevent back injuries. Taking these precautions is necessary to avoid endangering others or committing crimes while capturing the anarchic spirit of punk music.
1. RISK ASSESSMENT
As I need to film in a ‘punk’ environment, there must be a certain element of risk or anarchism
involved.
However, I cannot endanger others or myself for the sake of the music video. And I cannot commit any
crimes. Therefore, I need to be rather careful where I film and what the content is, so that it is
appropriate content, but is also conventional.
There are certain safety precautions that I must take, for example:
Fire escapes
Noise pollution reduction
Trip hazards
Back injuries.
All of these points need to be considered. Firstly, the fire escapes, as it is an area surrounded by
grassland on a very hot day. There aren’t many available exits, so to avoid this caution, we shall
position ourselves close to the nearest and safest available exit.
Secondly, noise pollution. I do not wish to disrupt neighbours, which may happen, as drum kits are very
loud instruments. So to avoid this, the drummer is going to use bamboo drumsticks, which reduce the
sound levels the drum kit can produce. And the vocalist shall mime the words so that he doesn’t disturb
anyone, as the lyrical content contains foul language, which can be seen as offensive to others.
Trip hazards are located all over the area, as it is one that isn’t taken care for by the council regularly.
Therefore, to avoid all hazards, we shall carefully remove all objects far from our location with thick
gloves, as some of the items may be sharp or may have been tampered with by items such as drugs,
which we do not want to come into contact with.
The final caution is back injuries. The equipment that I shall be using in the video can be very heavy to
carry. Therefore, we shall all attempt to prevent all injuries as much as possible, by evenly transporting
the equipment and moving loads that we can manage. The process may end up being slightly longer,
but I need to avoid all risk.
It is vitally important that nobody gets hurt in the process, so by taking precautions, there should be no
issues brought forward.
