Christmas Tree
Since I have been a young girl, I have anxiously awaited that special time of year when family gets together and everyone seems joyful and serene. As
the snow falls lightly on the ground, one can sense a special atmosphere in shops, restaurants, and even on streets. This special holiday is based on a
crucial time in religious history. Consequently, our society has passed down traditions to commemorate the Christmas season, a significant religious
holiday. Beyond a doubt, my favorite holiday is Christmas. During this festive season, I love the fact that everyone is guaranteed to hear festive carols.
Also, it is one time of year when people are searching for the perfect gifts to give their loved ones because it is a season when giving is ... Show more

For example, I can now look back on ornaments I made my parents when I was in grade school. One I can clearly recall is a grey tabby cat that I
painted for my mom. I remember that I put a lot of time and effort into making it perfect because I wanted it to be the best gift that my mom received
that year. We never light our tree until Christmas Eve, so at midnight on the night before Christmas Eve, an irrepressible excitement overcomes my
siblings and me as we are able to see our Christmas Tree come to life. Each year the tree is decorated beautifully with candy canes, ribbons, and
ornaments of all shapes and colors. My family rejoices in the beauty of the tree. Every year, it is an amazing sight. Christmas at my house has become a
cherished celebration that will be imprinted in my heart

Responsible Consumer and Travelers: Reflection on Holiday...
This paper aimed to explore and reflect on the consumption experience I had during last Christmas. Goals and suggestions to improve that experience
would also be carried out as to consolidate the positive aspects and to prevent the negative aspects of consumption happen again next time.
Consumerism became a dominant ideology in many societies, consumers consume goods in large quantities, and this behavior can benefit the country
by better off its economy. However, some negative consumer behavior come along with it, climate change and increase of solid waste are examples of
prolong impacts which may brought by those behavior. Being a consumer, except enjoying our consumer rights, we should also take our consumer
responsibilities seriously. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The restaurant provides us with over 80 food choices. We ordered many dishes, we felt very full therefore we had some leftover food like sashimi and
beef pot. When we decided to pay the bill, the waiter told us as we still have dishes remained on the table, the restaurant would require us to pay an
extra charge for causing food waste. We paid for it as we could not finish all the dishes, we felt guilty and ashamed for our greedy action.
I did reflection on my actions after purchasing those Christmas stuffs, together with the incident happened in the restaurant, I think I failed to be a
responsible consumer who can promote sustainable consumption and protect our earth.
The Christmas decorations was no doubt created good atmosphere for me and my family, also the present and cards sent warmth to my friends as I take
the consumption as expressing my bless to them. However, I brought the products because of atmosphere, culture influence and my own emotion. The
culture, the society and the company are encouraging people to buy and give gifts, as a way to show their social status and achieve norms. Besides, the
items I brought during Christmas were not environmental–friendly as they are mainly disposable products. Therefore, it is true to say that I did
emotional consumption and did not consume in a green way. The fact is I kept the Christmas tree furnish and decided to use it for next year, but I

Usa And Peru Compare And Contrast
Christmas Time: U.S. and Peru "Merry Christmas!" "Happy Holidays!" "Season's Greetings!" These are phrases a person will hear during the Christmas
holiday season in the United States. The season of giving and spending time with family is not only celebrated in the United States, but in countries all
over the world. A particular country located in South America, also celebrates Christmas as one of their most significant holidays of the year. In Peru,
one may hear Peruvians shouting out "Feliz Navidad" or on Christmas Eve "Noche Buena" translating to "Goodnight." [transition] Due to the strong
Christian beliefs in America and Peru, the commemoration of the Christmas season and some of their respective traditions are similar; but differences
do exist in the way they celebrate the season. [add three points] In preparation for such a significant holiday, people of the U.S. are often found
decorating immediately after the previous holiday, Thanksgiving, which is dated the last Thursday in November; some families even began decorating
before Thanksgiving. The best deals on Christmas gifts and décor are found on "Black Friday" which is the day after Thanksgiving. ... Show more

During the day of Dec. 24th, families stroll the streets while choirs sing, nativity scenes are bought, hot chocolate is given to the poor, and families visit
with friends and neighbors. At 10pm, the "Misa de Gallo" meaning the "Mass of the Rooster" begins. This is attended by most of Peru's devout citizens.
At midnight, a toast called a "brindis" normally occurs and fireworks sparkle in the night sky before families travel home for a Christmas dinner. Some
families open gifts as well, but most young children go to bed and open presents on Christmas day. After children are asleep, the adults continue to

What the fuck was that? Don't you see where you're FUCKING going?!", I shouted at the top of my lungs, not minding the people watching. Someone
had just crashed into my overflowing cart, spilling nearly everything onto the ground. I expected it to be an overweight, drunken idiot, but I was soon
mistaken.
"I'm terribly sorry about that."
It wasn't an overweight, drunk buffoon as I expected. It was a girl. She was quite pretty, to be honest. She had rich, platinum blonde hair, pale skin, and
those eyes!
"I a–.", I was unable to get any words out. Without any delay, she carefully put my items back into my cart. Noticing the green vest she was wearing,
she must be working in the store.
"Sorry.", she managed to apologize before the last item had been restored into my cart. She walked away with her arms crossed of sheer
embarrassment. What really struck my attention was the amount of coworkers jeering and making fun of her after the accident.
"Check out that fucking klutz!", shouted an overweight hag, who was probably a senior in that store.
"Ha! First mistake in less than 24 hours, huh?", smarked an Indian man in his 20's.
I think she might be the new girl for them to be picking on her like that.

Plastic And Non Plastic Trees
The room was stuffed with boxes. Box after box. The Christmas tree lay in the corner, it was the first thing mom and I set up. Then we set up the bed 's
and all the other necessities. Dad insisted that his arm chair should be where the tree was, which was right next to the fireplace. The most honorary
place in this new house of ours. So all three of us took a vote, and in the end, mom and I won. The Tree got the honorary place. We 'd been awfully
environmentally cautious recently, which wasn't bad. But that lead to a big debate over whether the tree should be real or plastic. I looked up 'pros &
cons of plastic & non plastic trees ' online and, it ends up, both have a fair amount of pros and cons. In the end, we bought a plastic ... Show more

Christmas lights were sitting in between tree branches .Twinkling.
I found that I hadn 't really thought about what to get my parents, but I just ended up getting mom a baking book and dad a watch. Just as I was about to
leave the mall, I heard a voice I recognized. Albert. Bert, for short. Bert knocked right into me, flinging the gifts (which I 'd gotten wrapped by the free
wrapping station, sponsored by Jews, oddly and ironically enough) out of my hands and onto the ground. A look of surprise which had covered his face
when he first saw me turned into a look of guilt which turned into a mix of the two. "Sorry Sun!" He said. And yes, before you ask, my name is Sun,
short for Sunshine. My parents were going through a hippy stage. Trust me, I 've tried to legally change my name. Oh how I 've tried. "Bert, it 's ok." I
said. He smiled, his blond–white hair twinkled in the Sun. He said, "actually, just yesterday, I went down to the courthouse and changed my name from
Albert," I guess I 'm not the only one who wanted a name change, "To Sawyer." "Why Sawyer? Of all names?" " 'Cause," he says, "Jenny dumped me
because of my name. She said it was too nerdy." You must understand Albert... I mean,Sawyer, is NOT a super nerdy guy, not that there 's anything
wrong with that, it 's just that Albert never really looked like an Albert to me. More like a Jason or a Chase. He plays baseball, but it 's not like he 's
dumb. No. He 's actually

My Childhood Memory
This was my earliest memory. I was four years old and it was around the time of Christmas. Me and my brother David were in the kitchen eating our
snack at the brown breakfast table we always ate at before we went to preschool. My mom was putting up the the decorations on the christmas tree in
the living room that was adjacent to our kitchen and just a step down. She always put up these tiny plastic houses, old shops and tiny churches – usually
on the top above our television case – that were covered in snow and would light up when you plugged them into the wall and you could always see the
little figures through the tiny windows. She always used fluffy white cotton fabric that she would place around the little houses to imitate snow. She
also would always put up the scene of Jesus in the manger with the wise men and the barn animals which too would light up. These were always
pleasing to look at and help set up. My dad was outside putting the yellow lights on the gutter of our white house – "white house" is how we always
remembered our house back in Madison Wisconsin. We were not big into decorations when it came to holidays like halloween where we would just
carve a few pumpkins, but when christmas came my parents seemed to enjoy decorating the most.
My mom had brought home some little red candies that were in a box with Rudolph on the cover that me and my brother were waiting to get our hands
on after we had finished our snack. We finished our snack and stepped down the

An Analysis Of Henrik Ibsen 's A Doll 's House
A Symbol of the Times
Henrik Ibsen masterfully uses symbolism to add depth and meaning to his play A Doll's House. The story is about a housewife named Nora who gets
into trouble when she forges her father's name to borrow money for her husband's sake. Many objects take on new meaning in this story, from the
Christmas tree in the opening scene to the slammed door at the end. Ibsen uses Nora as symbol representing how many women in that time period were
treated like objects. The literal meaning of this engaging, but the use of symbolism is what makes it a truly powerful story.
The Helmers live in nineteenth century Norway. The opening scene is set during the Christmas season, in the apartment of a somewhat average family
where Nora and Torvald are married with three kids. The story revolves around Nora, and how she forged her dying father's signature to acquire a loan.
In Nora's eyes she had to go behind Torvald's back, so that she could take him to Italy to recover from his illness. Nora must acquire the money to pay
off the loan without her husband knowing. The reason being that Torvald is very tight with money, and would not spend so much on himself. The man
Nora borrowed from is employed by Torvald, and will soon be fired. Krogstad is his name, and he tells Nora that if she can convince her husband to let
him keep his job, he will not tell Torvald of her actions. Nora can not acquire the money quick enough, so Krogstad sends a letter to Torvald revealing
Nora's actions.

According to many studies, social interaction is consistently proven as correlated with health. This research has been successful in proving the number
of benefits resulting from these human relationships such as; reduced stress levels, lower blood pressure, and cognitive health. In order to facilitate
these interactions, many place makers aim to reject the increase of inhospitable environments and rather implement environments that promote

In our minds this included; a red bow, a number of ribbons in the holiday's traditional colors, and candy canes. Additionally, we purchased spray chalk
in order for those who choose to stop to express their holiday wishes in a fun and playful way. We intended to incentivize them to stop by offering them
a candy cane and allowing them to express themselves freely with the medium that we choose. The result of this would not only be the spontaneous
communication that we experienced with them in that moment, but also the potential future interactions it may create as a result of people wanting to
stop because they are intrigued by the product of the project we created. When decided where to implement this idea, we considered a number of open
spaces. However, we really wanted to choose a space that is generally viewed as unappealing in order to put our ideas to the test. We were determined
to find a place where people must often pass through but never see a reason to stop. Finally, we agreed on setting the project up on a muddy, woodchip
path that is a shortcut often used by music students to get from the Musical Art Center to the Auditorium most efficiently. This area has recently looked
especially off–putting in light of the heaving construction adjacent to it. As we had hoped, this seemed urge people to stop. Many were curious as to

Original Writing Of A Christmas Tree Farm On The Outskirts...
The same day that I shared the baby news with Trent and Tia, I moved back home. After we left Trent's mother's house, we went to Stone Dale Court
and picked up my things. As we were putting my belongings into the car, I saw Boogie drive by. He waved and blew the horn at us. When I waved
back, I had to remember to call and share the good news with him before someone else could tell him. It didn't take long to put my stuff in the car
before I left I gave my mother a big hug and thanked her for taking care of me. As we backed out of the driveway, mom waved and watched us as we
drove away.
On that same evening, we had cocoa from Starbucks and went shopping for a Christmas tree. After finding a Christmas tree farm on the outskirts of
town, we selected a tree that would fit our home best. Since we didn't have a truck, we paid the owner of the lot to deliver our tree. He followed us as
we drove home. I didn't realize that the tree was so big until it was positioned in the corner of the living room. It was a good thing we didn't pick a
bigger tree because it would not have fit without trimming it and nobody wanted to do that.
Tia was ready to add decorations to the tree and drug me into the garage to find ornaments. There were two boxes marked "Christmas Decorations" on a
shelf in the garage. As I wondered where the ladder was, Trent joined us in the garage and said, "I hope you're not thinking about getting those boxes
down from there."

A Cultural Metaphor For Germany Essay
This paper will describe Christmas in Germany as a cultural metaphor for Germany. In this research paper I will include all of the characteristics of a
German Christmas and explain all of the traditions that we try to mimick here in the United States. I will breakdown the culture of Germany and all of
the holiday traditions that they celebrate during the Christmas season. The paper will highlight how we as Americans view Christmas in Germany.
Advent Wreath – Der Adventskranz & Advent Calendar – Der Adventskalender The Advent calendar starts on the Sunday after November 26th. This is
the time that is devoted for Christmas preparations. After four Advent Sundays are over, there follows Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Advent
calendar hangs above childrens beds. The calendar has small numbers on the pictures, numbered 1–24. Wherever the numbers are there are small paper
windows, which you will open to find a picture on a translucent paper. The children open these every morning and then they know how many days
there are left until Christmas. Apart from the Advent calendar, families have Advent wreaths. These wreaths are made up of holly flowers and bound fir
twigs and are placed on a table with four red candles placed in the center. One of the candles is lit on each Sunday preceding Christmas, with the last
one being on Christmas Eve. No one knows when the Advent wreath originated in Germany. The Sunday before Advent you will see these wreaths at

It's not a question about the leaf, my question is, how ideal of an environment do you want this kind of reference to be? Because, as you said, in the
black box maybe we can do some data collection in the lab, for the reference, but in the real world, what we get from the lar experiments and lab
research, is difficult to be copied with the filed conditions, where we have discussed that there is light, angle or maybe cloudy or not and things like
those.
The light in the environment can also have some impact on what we get. Even if we build a whole database as reference from the ideal condition or the
ideal situation, can we just use these?
John: No, you could, but the accuracy would start to fall off because the conditions in the lab aren't good enough for the changes of the environment.
That was why I was trying to put a reference on the blueberry bush. If you put the reference on the blueberry bush, you have your reference sitting in
the changing environment.
Female Speaker: That is where this laser –
John: Yeah, the laser shines out there or you hang a little Christmas tree bulb that is running through the color cube and only those six frequencies that

The Market Creates And Reinforces The Fantasyland By The...
Christmas, which is on 25th December every year, is a religious event that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ but it becomes a holiday in many
countries, especially western countries where their mainstream religion is Christian. People celebrate Christmas with many traditional rituals, they
purchase decorations for houses, gifts giving and have the Christmas dinner with family and friends but the rituals may vary from different countries.
Additionally, Christmas is a high consumption season due to the gifts giving culture of traditional activities in western culture and also consumers are
offered discounts during the occasion in which Christmas creates 'the consumption fantasyland'. 'Consumption satisfices our basic survival needs and
the more abstract needs of cultural, social and personal elements that are symbolic of taste, lifestyles and identity' (Clarke, 2007: 3). This essay will
discuss two perspectives, which are classical and cultural perspectives, separately through celebrations that drive consumer behavior before, during
Christmas and then in the next section we will discuss about how the market creates and reinforces the fantasyland by the marketing communications
for Christmas.
There is no doubt that Christmas is a religious event but nowadays Christmas becomes more commercialized, as it has been defined as a high
consumption season because the gifts giving culture becomes the most important part of Christmas and the consumers want to please their children

Christmas Exhibition Research Paper
During the Holiday Season, the Inner Harbor in Downtown Baltimore has a Christmas Exhibition. I attended the Christmas exhibition Friday,
November 25, 2016, during the lunch hours. The inner harbor always has an exhibition or activity for the public, during every season. The Christmas
Village brings different cultures together to experience the holiday season. The Inner Harbor has an Ice Skating Rink, a German Christmas Village, and
a Santa Claus impersonator to take pictures with.
The Pandora Ice Skating Rink is a newer edition to the Inner Holiday setup. I paid a small fee of ten dollars to skate and four dollars to rent skates. It is
a beautiful experience to ice skate beside the water and to see all the people walk along the harbor. The ice skating rink plays Christmas music to get
patrons into a festive mood. The rink is usually busy during the weekends, but since it was the thanksgiving holiday there was a lot of people. After

Analysis Of The Poem ' Saved '
Saved The cold crisp winter air bit at her as she trekked across the empty field. A light gust of wind picked up, blowing her wild fiery hair into her face
and she pushed it away in slight annoyance. Exhaling a breath, she inched further into her coat and stuffed her hands into her pockets in an attempt to
keep warm. Making her way over to a small bench that was dark and slightly rustic, she plopped herself down and instantly fell back into the hard
wooden seat with a sigh. Rubbing her glove–covered hands together, she looked towards her vacant surroundings. Lush, vibrant greenery stretched
across the vast entirety of the land. The near–naked whimsical–looking trees that were posed disorderly sprouted long thin branches that were yet to
blossom into divine colours. Soft yellow light filtered through the grey clouds and casted a warm glow over the field. The faint audible murmur of
bristling leaves and the high intermittent chirps of birds pleased her ears. As she watched the blushing withered leaves fall upon the dewy grass, a sense
of warm nostalgia settled over her. It was Christmas. A festive evergreen tree brightly decorated with an arrangement of colourful ornaments sat at the
edge of the lounge, towering above the young girl that stood beneath it. The girl gazed up at the tree in pure awe and wonder, her wide eyes scanning
the foreign objects that hung upon every tree branch. Hesitantly, she stood on her tiptoes to touch one of the ornaments – a golden star. As she

The Christmas Tree Industry Of Ashe County
The Christmas tree industry of Ashe County is the leading industry of the mountain region of North Carolina. The attraction of tourists is a positive
benefit for Ashe County, and has increased substantially, because tourism brings in money for public funding for services that we would not normally
be able to do, as well as employment for those to maintain hotels and restaurants for those who visit our county. Although the county benefits from
added revenue and employment, there are also disadvantages to the Christmas tree industry. Pesticides are used to prevent diseases on trees, yet they are
harmful to the environment as well as the wildlife. Operating a tree farm requires a significant investment to maintain orderly tree production and is
physically demanding.
Christopher Ingraham stated, "Topping the overall list is Ashe County, North Carolina, which produces just shy of 2 million trees per year ... But the
latest numbers show that Ashe County is now, in fact, the largest producer of trees anywhere in the U.S." (1). Tourism greatly increased the supply and
demand of Fraser fir Christmas trees in Ashe County. Many tourists across the east coast come to visit the top producers "choose and cut" farms, where
they can select any tree for a reasonable price and be assured it is the freshest quality tree for their money. Tourists are assets to provide funding for

Personal Narrative : Having A Perfect Christmas Eve
I was having a perfect Christmas Eve, I had just hung up my stockings making every single thing straight so when Santa slipped down the chimney it
would be perfect. While I was organizing Santa's cookies and milk I started to wonder, was Santa really real? Of course he was real because every year
on Christmas Eve he would leave me presents under the tree. I had also seen pictures of him everywhere down town when I was helping my mama
Christmas shop. He was also on all kinds of decorations and goodies.
Then I started hearing voices. I was really wanting to go see Santa and the voices were telling me to go find him. When I would talk to the voices they
would answer me back. When I said I wish I could go see Santa, his workshop, and ride in his sleigh the voice answered back and said, "Why don't you
go then?'' I tried to explain that I could not and that it was not that easy. The voice replied, "Just try on these Shoes, and take this Light in your hand,
and you'll find your way all right.'' The shoes fit just right! So I started on my journey. It was like I knew exactly where I was going. I just wanted to
sing and laugh, I was full of excitement. Then I seen a house at the end of a path. In every window there was a candle that lit up the house. I knew it
was a sign.
I walked up to the house and before I had time to ring the door bell there stood a boy. He had slender legs and a roly–poly stomach. It was not Santa but
he did have a really jolly laugh. He

Symbols in a Doll's House Essay
Nora's fancy dress costume Torvald chooses Nora's fancy dress costume, a Neapolitan fisher–girl's dress that he had made for her in Capri. In effect, she
is wearing it for him: the sight of her dancing in it throws him into a state of erotic fascination. This reinforces the idea that it is Nora's superficial and
transient qualities, such as her beauty, that Torvald most appreciates. It is significant that when the Nurse first brings out the dress (Act 2), Nora notices
that it is torn and is tempted to rip it to shreds. This may be symbolic of the flawed state of her marriage and of her feelings about it. Mrs Linde, who is
less impetuous and more mature than Nora, suggests repairing it, and it is Mrs Linde who decides that Nora and ... Show more content on

The mythology of tarantism suggests that she is dancing in order to rid herself of a deadly poison. Depending on how we wish to interpret this
symbolism, the poison may be the threat posed by Krogstad's revelations, or the poison of deception and hypocrisy that characterizes the Helmer
marriage. Light Light is most often used to symbolize Nora's state of awareness. After Torvald claims to be man enough to take everything upon
himself (Act 2) and while she is talking to Dr Rank, the light begins to grow dark. This symbolism refers to two processes. First, Nora is using her
sexual attractiveness to manipulate the dying Dr Rank into giving her money to pay off her loan. When Dr Rank confesses his love for her, she is
shocked out of her game. She brings in a lamp, telling Dr Rank that he must feel ashamed of himself now that the lamp has come. Light also appears to
symbolize hope and spiritual redemption when Dr Rank is talking in code to Nora about his coming death (Act 3). He talks of death as a big black hat
that will make him invisible, an image of obliteration of life. But Nora brings him a light for his cigar as she wishes him goodbye. Dr Rank loves her,
and in spite of her sometimes dubious behavior towards him, she has given him understanding, compassion and acceptance. She also means at this
point, it seems, to join him in death by

The Pros And Cons Of Santa Claus
Shops are bursting with toys, mince pies are on the menu and radios are blasting out Christmas tunes –– so it's time for another festive favourite: lying
to children.
For millions of children, Santa is an essential part of the Christmas magic. But if parents persuade their children that Santa is real, that lie may harm
them, according to psychologists
First of all, you're setting your child up for inevitable disappointment when they realize the truth about Santa.
Everyone remembers that moment they realized that Santa Claus wasn't real. The disappointment is so searing. For many people the holidays never
again hold the same kind of magic. Speaking as former child, I remember the abject disappointment when I found out that this Christmas magic was
just a fiction. The spell was broken; the escape from reality that children and adults can share for a few months had gone. Christmas was never the same
again.
Most children like little believe in Santa Claus. But when do they stop? Perhaps gardeners – about 5–6, and some do not stop and up to 7–year–olds.
Breaking with Santa Claus is like parting with childhood. Do we encourage our children to believe for a long time, or even when they are five, to
surrender and reveal their naked truth? Do we believe ourselves? Who is actually Santa?
It is not a lie to buy gifts, it is the belief in the good old man who brings to everyone something on Christmas. He is a fairy–tale hero who holds the

Essay on Muddy Buddy Memories
Every Christmas Eve, my dad, brother and I make Muddy Buddies for the rest of our family, but the Christmas Eve of 2006 stands out in particularly.
My dad had just gotten back from an international business trip so he was a little out of it to say the least. He came home that day and later that
afternoon went to the store to get all the ingredients we needed but unfortunately forgot how much of each ingredient to buy. That night when we were
making our Muddy Buddies, he ended up going back to the store 3 times because we ran out of cereal, chocolate chips and powdered sugar. Making

That bowl is then set aside. Next, we take the microwavable bowl and insert 1 cup of chocolate chips, half a cup of peanut butter and a quarter cup of
thawed out margarine. That bowl is then put in the microwave for one minute, stirred, and then put in the microwave for an additional 30 seconds until
smooth. Once smooth, we stir in one teaspoon of vanilla. The mixture made is then poured on top of the 9 cups of Chex cereal and stirred until evenly
coated. My dad usually does the stirring or else my brother or I would stir so hard that it would squish the cereal.
Once the cereal is evenly coated, it is then poured into a gallon sized re–sealable bag. Then my dad holds the bag open while my brother pours in the
one and a half cups of powdered sugar. The bag is then sealed and I get the fun job of shaking the bag until the powdered sugar coats all the cereal.
Then I pour out the cereal onto the dining room table which is covered with wax paper. Then, we repeat the process until we run out of ingredients and
have to run to the store to get more. As soon as we make enough Muddy Buddies for the entire family, is when we sprinkle the remaining powdered
sugar on top of the cereal. Finally, we take smaller re–sealable bags and fill over 20 bags with Muddy Buddies for each family member to give to them
on Christmas Day, while any leftovers are given to my Grandma where she leaves them out throughout her house on Christmas for sharing.

A Commercialized Christmas Essay
One can almost cut through the irony of hearing Bing Crosby sing "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" on the radio when the temperature is
sixty and the first frost of winter is still weeks away. As citizens of the United States in this day and age, people are most likely all too accustomed with
this typical rush promoted between important festivities. It's exclusively about generating maximum revenue for the large corporations as frantic
shoppers attempt to assuage their stress through hour upon hour of incessant shopping; arising in our society today, an important question of whether or
not this avaricious behavior communicates total loss of understanding as to what the true meaning of the season represents. In my opinion, some ...

Within our culture, it seems to be of much more convenience to attend a Christmas Eve sale at Macy's rather than the Christmas Eve vigil at a local
church. Days such as BLACK Friday really do give a good characterization to the way we as a whole have become. Next, one is unable to enjoy the
true spirit of the season – the togetherness, the contentment, and the unadulterated joy – when the only thing singed into our minds is the need to
prepare for the next quickly–approaching holiday. Before you can even begin to think of the forthcoming celebration, all consumer–based retailers have
their shelves stocked high with goods pertaining to seasons months in the future. Sears, Kmart and Home Depot were among the first wave of retailers
to set up their holiday displays and merchandise during the last week of September ("Kmart, Sears, and Home Depot"). It seems that, at this point every
year, Halloween and Thanksgiving are to be forgotten, shipped away to the land of misfit rationalizations; the biggest moneymaker of them all is the
only thing that retail stores want you to remember. It's impossible to see the beauty of the multitude of colors painted across the leaves of changing
trees, to watch the snow gently blanket the cold, hard, winter ground, or to enjoy the company of several generations of loved ones gathered in close
proximity when the

The Signs Of The Store
The store was practically empty that day, Saturdays always were. Everyone hated Saturdays. It was the signaling of Sunday's storm approaching. They
only customers who came in on Saturdays were the ones who knew better. All the employees who were scheduled to come in Sunday, moped around,
dreading having to deal with crazy customers. The ones who weren't coming in walked around with a bounce in their step. Josh, was in a frenzy,
making sure the store was fully stocked in every area. He kept hovering over Christina and Dylan as they arranged the shelves and made sure restocked
the shelves. It wasn't until Luis, a fellow employee, dragged him away, but even then, Josh managed to escape to bug Elias who was stuck on inventory
duty again with Liam, another employee. They had made fun of Josh's hair again. "Is he always like that?" Dylan asked Christina. Dylan had yet to
work on a Sunday, so he wouldn't understand why Josh acted that way. Then again, Christina had worked there for six years, she was just used to
everyone's quirks. "Josh is just an anxious person. Sunday's are hard for him." Dylan nodded, but Christina could tell through his expression that he still
didn't get it. Dylan came off as a confident guy, always aware of his strengths and could talk to just about anyone. Of course he would find it strange
that someone could have so much trouble socializing. If he thought Josh was bad, Christina wondered what he thought of Diana. "I like your shirt by

Watching movies can be very fun, relaxing as well as emotional. They are also classified by different genre categories such as, romance, comedy,
action, and so on. The movie "Marry me at Christmas" is classified as a romance movie. It is about a bridal boutique owner is planning an exquisite
Christmas wedding and is unexpectedly swept off her feet by the brides celebrity brother. Some concrete elements that I will use to evaluate my topic
are the setting because the title includes Christmas, the setting involved the Christmas theme. In the movie the wardrobe is also important because
every sense in the movie involved Christmas decorations. The dialogue is unique because it can make the person who's watching it can mixed in many

good element to use to evaluate the topic because it makes up the title of the movie. The last element that I will use is the character appearance,
although every sense involved Christmas decor, the character made the appearance in each sense to dress in the Christmas spirit. This movie is
considered to be one of the most emotional and most powerful movie of them all. Reason being, it grabs the audience attention that Christmas involves
sharing the love and joy with one another but it lacks the overall meaning of Christmas.

My First Activity Of The Food Pantry
My first activity that I was involved in with Catholic Social Services was the food pantry. As my children progressed through high school, I knew
certain classes or clubs were involved with participating in food drives. Our house was one of the most targeted homes for quite some time as we live
directly across the street from St. Michael's Elementary School which is where some of the organizations met. St. Cecilia's is also a school that requires
wearing a uniform and, occasionally, the kids could have a free jeans day if each student brought in so many items for the food pantry and my children
were no different than a lot of the others...they wanted to wear jeans so they would raid my pantry to take food to school. I did not really give it much
thought at the time when I was pulling food from my pantry of how this small act of kindness would help others. I knew there was a need for the food
otherwise the food drive would not take place. I was so naïve in my thought process at that time. The night that I helped sort food at the food pantry
was a major eye opener. My role for the evening was to help supervise high school students, who were sorting through the food as a community service
project. When I walked into the basement where the food sorting was done, I found several areas that housed certain foods. In talking with the
coordinator, I found that most of that foods had been donated by various stores whether the store has a quota that is established for donations or if

Beta Club Motto Essay
The Beta Club motto " Let Us Lead by Serving Others" can be interpreted in many different ways. To me, it means that one should be a leader by
helping others and encouraging the people around them to do so as well. Out of the many activities I participate in, I feel that my participation by
volunteering in our local Angel Tree program exemplifies the Beta Club motto. Not only did I participate with the Angel tree, I also encouraged many
classes and different clubs to join in a as volunteers also. The Angel Tree is a program run by the Salvation Army which makes sure that unfortunate
families throughout the community enjoys the Christmas season. This organization provides gifts, such as toys and clothes. With the gifts, a box of food
for a warm Christmas meal is included. The Angel Tree depends on a lot of volunteers to help keep our angel's needs and wants fulfilled.

Symbolism : A Doll House

Poetry Essay
6 October 2015
A Doll House: Symbolism In Henrik Ibsen's A Doll House, there is plenty of symbolism that helps the play to move forward. Symbols as small as Nora
eating macaroons, the tarantella dance, and the Christmas tree to as broad as New Year's. The macaroons and the tarantella reveal Nora's personality
and her character. The Christmas tree and the concept of New Year's reveal the current states of the relationships in the play. The Christmas tree
represents the innocence and the assumed happy relationship between Nora, Torvald, and the rest of the cast at first. Then at the beginning of the second
act, after Nora's increased paranoia due to her conversation with Krogstad, the Christmas tree is shown to be disheveled; which serves as the symbolism
to the decline of stability in the play. New Year's is part of the setting of the play but it shows the hope for the future of Nora and Torvald. Torvald is
scheduled for a promotion at the start of the new year which would add to their financial stability, and in Nora's favor, she could pay back her debt to
Krogstad with the newfound income. The macaroons, the tarantella, the Christmas tree, and New Year's all serve to add to the dynamic of the play and
help the play move forward. The first symbol is the macaroons, a small cake pastry. The play opens with Nora paying the delivery boy for the
Christmas tree and a basket, then once she is stripped of her street

When she finally got to the changing room, only a few other girls had arrived. Miss Claudine was in the back of the room talking on her cell. She

"I'm so excited!" Abby cried.
"I can't believe it's finally here," Shannon added with a bounce. "We've been practicing forever."
"Are you nervous, Becca?" Abby asked.
Becca nodded. "A little, but I'm ready."
"You don't have anything to be nervous about. You're, like, the best dancer. You're amazing!" Shannon gushed.
"Thank you," Becca replied with sincerity.
"I don't know how you do it, Becca," Abby said with eyes bulging, "especially the drop."
Miss Claudine finished her call and came over. "You girls have worked so hard," she said. "I have a feeling tonight will be very special." The girls
nodded in agreement, and their teacher moved on to greet the next group arriving.
The dancers hurried into their costumes helping each other with zippers, extra bobby pins, and hair spray. Becca was glad to be one of the first ready

A Sacrificial Love December 26th, 2014. One of the most heartbreaking days that Clara and her husband Tuck would ever endure. On the morning of
that horrific day, Tuck would wake up to the ringing of the worst Christmas gift he would ever receive. He had woken up very early that morning, and
he'd sat down on the couch for a few minutes to watch the old television that they had picked up in a thrift store, in the only room where they had one,
and he fell asleep. He heard the ringing and reached for the phone. He recognized the number, it was a co worker and a buddy of both him and his

brother's Harley t–shirts. Last year, she had not had nearly enough money to have the quilt made. This year, money was even tighter, and she still did
not have enough money to have the quilt made, especially because she wanted it made by the best in town. The quilt would cost about $400.000, and
she had to come up with the money quickly, due to Christmas being just two months away, and the quilt–maker needing time to make the quilt.
Clara took her most prized item, her precious necklace that had been passed down to her by her mother, to a pawn shop to sell it. Her father had bought

Knowing that she had very limited time, Clara called the quilt–maker and told her that she would be on her way with the money and the t–shirts. She

Meaningful Memories Of Christmas
Meaningful Memories
Christmas is a magical time of year celebrated by most people on December 25th. It's a religious and cultural holiday that commemorates the birth of
Jesus Christ. Although the actual holiday is just one day of the year, I celebrate the holiday for several weeks leading up to the actual date with
decorations, gift exchanges, social events, and family gatherings. These events establish traditions and memories that I one–day hope to share with my
family.
I always start planning for Christmas in early November to make the most of the holiday season. To set the mood for my planning time I turn on my
favorite Christmas music. Next, I gather my calendar, computer, pen, and paper. I check the T.V. listings for Christmas movies, contact my friends to
see when they are available to get together for an ugly Christmas sweater party, and to bake cookies. I mark the dates for these activities on my
calendar. Next, on my computer I search for holiday events in my area and note the events I want to attend on my calendar. I purchase any advance
tickets for events that require a reservation and print the tickets. Next, I set a budget for Christmas presents. Using my pen and paper I make a list of my
friends and family that I need to buy presents for. On the list I include the names, presents, and the estimated price of each present, ensuring that I don't
exceed my budget. As Christmas approaches I will make a few shopping trips to shop for presents. After I bring the

Essay on “the Communication of Window Displays” Selfridges
"The Communication of Window displays"
Selfridges
BA (HONS) Fashion Management – ISHE
Henry Gordon Selfridge was famous for lighting up store windows at night and his art of displays. He opened up the largest store in the world and his
own retail empire in 1903. Soon, H.G. Selfridge & Co sold out and he retired a rich man. In 1909, Selfridge's focused on advertising and publicity.
This led to air shows and exciting ideas such as the Theatre of Retail. In this essay, I will use primary research as well as journals, articles, videos,
books and websites to bring my research together. By this, I will prove how the windows of Selfridges consistently work to promote the cheerful image
of the retailer.

This coldness, along with the strong clutch of the prop, which is the hand, create a language or entertainement to the passerby. This is all done through
simplicity where the props are adding significant value to the window, allowing the window to reflet the brand image. This supports the idea that retail
design is more reactive than product design, since the added value in the window given to the shoes made them more attractive to buy.

The localized light in Figure 4 establishes coziness in the window. It seduces the customer to look into the window. This lessens the effect of the
exxagerated walls and floor. The light also removes the attention off the mannequins clothing and onto the shoes around her. The props here may, to
some people, override everything else. Still, they create a surprising element, causing a passerby to come back for more, according to Mary Portas.
Also, although they are random, they still hang together with the merchandise and make it more graphic. These three windows get emotions excited by
allowing the customer to be a part of something much larger, tightening the retailer's relationship with the consumer.

Personal Narrative
I think Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe because of the special atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops,
restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can tell you for
sure is that I can't think of anything more exciting than the image of the entire family preparing the Christmas Tree or fixing the Christmas dishes.
When I think of Christmas the first thing that pops into my mind is the delicious Chocolate Cake that only my grandma knows how to prepare. Perhaps
this is the reason why, every year, my family and me try to spend our holiday at our grandma's place.

A Doll House By Henrik Ibsen
A Doll House
The play A Doll House written by Henrik Ibsen has strong symbolisms such as the doll house, Christmas tree, macaroons, and New Year's day that help
outline the theme. The author uses symbolisms to pull his audience in and allow them to feel the full effect of inequality and emotional abuse men gave
women in the year of 1879, when Ibsen wrote this play.
The first symbolism in this play is the Christmas tree which represents Nora's inner state of mind. In Act 2 the stage directions describe the Christmas
tree and how it "now stands stripped of ornament, burned–down candle stubs on its ragged branches." (Ibsen 1266). Ibsen goes on to tell the audience
that Nora is ", alone in the room, moves restlessly about," (1266). Here the Christmas tree symbolizes Nora's disordered mind.
The Christmas tree also characterizes Nora's web of lies hidden from her husband. She decorates her life with candy, clothes, toys, and money to make
herself feel better, filling the emptiness inside her. This also shows when she wants the Christmas tree to be perfect and not allowing her children to see
it until it is decorated. All of these materialistic things Nora uses to decorate her life begins to fall away when the truth comes out. This also leads to
Nora's role in the home setting. Just as she was her father's doll–child, she is also her husband's doll, his possession. She is mere decoration, someone to
sit there, look pretty, and do as her husband says. Nothing but a status symbol

Analysis Of The Book ' The Terror ' Essay
The terror always begins in a holiday
Bare winter with a woody plant, dotted about the town square light up the festive with colors. A trail of small lanterns glow the church to the middle of
town up on the lonely hill inviting all to join the night mass later that day.
A lonely , lost and forgotten wanders through the crowd. No man pays him any attention or even notices him. Yet, he'd been coming here for years. well
too many to remember. He's no longer warmed by the sweet scents of pine trees drifting over the crowd of carol singers. He always looks among the
crowd because it remind him of the life he once had and could never retrieve.
It would be wise for him to leave now before it's too late but as always something distracts him. With a sentimental fondness, he watches a young girl
with a age of five or six years, as she stares up into the night sky trying to glimpse Santa's sleigh. Then he smiles broadly at her squeal of joy as the first
flakes of snow begin to tumble to down, dusting everything with a soft magical powder. Her parents shiver and wrap their scarfs tighter around their
faces while clutching song sheets in their gloved hands, determined not to let the chilly weather deter them from this annual traditional.
In the far corner of the square standing before a flood–lit nativity scene stands a man dressed in a Father Christmas costume. He announces the next
carol to be sung and Away in a Manger rises from the assembled choir. It must be early, the

Christmas Tree

  • 1. Christmas Tree Since I have been a young girl, I have anxiously awaited that special time of year when family gets together and everyone seems joyful and serene. As the snow falls lightly on the ground, one can sense a special atmosphere in shops, restaurants, and even on streets. This special holiday is based on a crucial time in religious history. Consequently, our society has passed down traditions to commemorate the Christmas season, a significant religious holiday. Beyond a doubt, my favorite holiday is Christmas. During this festive season, I love the fact that everyone is guaranteed to hear festive carols. Also, it is one time of year when people are searching for the perfect gifts to give their loved ones because it is a season when giving is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, I can now look back on ornaments I made my parents when I was in grade school. One I can clearly recall is a grey tabby cat that I painted for my mom. I remember that I put a lot of time and effort into making it perfect because I wanted it to be the best gift that my mom received that year. We never light our tree until Christmas Eve, so at midnight on the night before Christmas Eve, an irrepressible excitement overcomes my siblings and me as we are able to see our Christmas Tree come to life. Each year the tree is decorated beautifully with candy canes, ribbons, and ornaments of all shapes and colors. My family rejoices in the beauty of the tree. Every year, it is an amazing sight. • 5. Responsible Consumer and Travelers: Reflection on Holiday... This paper aimed to explore and reflect on the consumption experience I had during last Christmas. Goals and suggestions to improve that experience would also be carried out as to consolidate the positive aspects and to prevent the negative aspects of consumption happen again next time. Consumerism became a dominant ideology in many societies, consumers consume goods in large quantities, and this behavior can benefit the country by better off its economy. However, some negative consumer behavior come along with it, climate change and increase of solid waste are examples of prolong impacts which may brought by those behavior. Being a consumer, except enjoying our consumer rights, we should also take our consumer responsibilities seriously. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The restaurant provides us with over 80 food choices. We ordered many dishes, we felt very full therefore we had some leftover food like sashimi and beef pot. When we decided to pay the bill, the waiter told us as we still have dishes remained on the table, the restaurant would require us to pay an extra charge for causing food waste. We paid for it as we could not finish all the dishes, we felt guilty and ashamed for our greedy action. I did reflection on my actions after purchasing those Christmas stuffs, together with the incident happened in the restaurant, I think I failed to be a responsible consumer who can promote sustainable consumption and protect our earth. The Christmas decorations was no doubt created good atmosphere for me and my family, also the present and cards sent warmth to my friends as I take the consumption as expressing my bless to them. However, I brought the products because of atmosphere, culture influence and my own emotion. The culture, the society and the company are encouraging people to buy and give gifts, as a way to show their social status and achieve norms. Besides, the items I brought during Christmas were not environmental–friendly as they are mainly disposable products. Therefore, it is true to say that I did emotional consumption and did not consume in a green way. The fact is I kept the Christmas tree furnish and decided to use it for next year, but I removed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Usa And Peru Compare And Contrast Christmas Time: U.S. and Peru "Merry Christmas!" "Happy Holidays!" "Season's Greetings!" These are phrases a person will hear during the Christmas holiday season in the United States. The season of giving and spending time with family is not only celebrated in the United States, but in countries all over the world. A particular country located in South America, also celebrates Christmas as one of their most significant holidays of the year. In Peru, one may hear Peruvians shouting out "Feliz Navidad" or on Christmas Eve "Noche Buena" translating to "Goodnight." [transition] Due to the strong Christian beliefs in America and Peru, the commemoration of the Christmas season and some of their respective traditions are similar; but differences do exist in the way they celebrate the season. [add three points] In preparation for such a significant holiday, people of the U.S. are often found decorating immediately after the previous holiday, Thanksgiving, which is dated the last Thursday in November; some families even began decorating before Thanksgiving. The best deals on Christmas gifts and décor are found on "Black Friday" which is the day after Thanksgiving. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the day of Dec. 24th, families stroll the streets while choirs sing, nativity scenes are bought, hot chocolate is given to the poor, and families visit with friends and neighbors. Some families open gifts as well, but most young children go to bed and open presents on Christmas day. After children are asleep, the adults continue to celebrate throughout the ... • 13. Thanksgiving Is A Day Of Giving Thanks We all have our favorite time of the year; it might be summer, spring, fall or even winter. The holidays are a time for celebrations, decorating and heartwarming love. The holidays are just a joyous time of the year. They are also a time for family, friends, and great food and let 's not forget a break from work. But my overall favorite time of the year is the holiday season, Thanksgiving and Christmas and the family traditions that brings out the holiday spirit. To start with, Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks. It is not only a time to give thanks on that day, but to be thankful throughout the entire year. Thanksgiving is not just about the turkey and dressing, the honey ham or the pecan pies; it is day for families to gather together, enjoy each other and give thanks for the many blessings we have received. It is a day where we gather at my house and everyone pitches in and brings their favorite dish. I provide the main meal, the chicken and dressing and my daughter, Tamika does the potato salad. We usually purchase our desserts and my granddaughter, Alexus likes to set the table, and she does it so beautifully. Thanksgiving is when we all get full, stuffed and just lazy and sleepy. We gather around in the living room to watch the Dallas Cowboys football game, the kids play their video games and lastly the night ends with everyone shopping for the Black Friday deals, that's the exciting part of it all. Someone had just crashed into my overflowing cart, spilling nearly everything onto the ground. I expected it to be an overweight, drunken idiot, but I was soon mistaken. "I'm terribly sorry about that." It wasn't an overweight, drunk buffoon as I expected. It was a girl. She was quite pretty, to be honest. She had rich, platinum blonde hair, pale skin, and those eyes! "I a–.", I was unable to get any words out. Without any delay, she carefully put my items back into my cart. Noticing the green vest she was wearing, she must be working in the store. "Sorry.", she managed to apologize before the last item had been restored into my cart. She walked away with her arms crossed of sheer embarrassment. Then we set up the bed 's and all the other necessities. Dad insisted that his arm chair should be where the tree was, which was right next to the fireplace. The most honorary place in this new house of ours. So all three of us took a vote, and in the end, mom and I won. The Tree got the honorary place. We 'd been awfully environmentally cautious recently, which wasn't bad. But that lead to a big debate over whether the tree should be real or plastic. I looked up 'pros & cons of plastic & non plastic trees ' online and, it ends up, both have a fair amount of pros and cons. In the end, we bought a plastic ... I found that I hadn 't really thought about what to get my parents, but I just ended up getting mom a baking book and dad a watch. Just as I was about to leave the mall, I heard a voice I recognized. Albert. Bert, for short. Bert knocked right into me, flinging the gifts (which I 'd gotten wrapped by the free wrapping station, sponsored by Jews, oddly and ironically enough) out of my hands and onto the ground. A look of surprise which had covered his face when he first saw me turned into a look of guilt which turned into a mix of the two. "Sorry Sun!" He said. And yes, before you ask, my name is Sun, short for Sunshine. My parents were going through a hippy stage. Trust me, I 've tried to legally change my name. Oh how I 've tried. "Bert, it 's ok." I said. He smiled, his blond–white hair twinkled in the Sun. He said, "actually, just yesterday, I went down to the courthouse and changed my name from Albert," I guess I 'm not the only one who wanted a name change, "To Sawyer." "Why Sawyer? Of all names?" " 'Cause," he says, "Jenny dumped me because of my name. She said it was too nerdy." You must understand Albert... I mean,Sawyer, is NOT a super nerdy guy, not that there 's anything wrong with that, it 's just that Albert never really looked like an Albert to me. More like a Jason or a Chase. • 25. My Childhood Memory This was my earliest memory. I was four years old and it was around the time of Christmas. Me and my brother David were in the kitchen eating our snack at the brown breakfast table we always ate at before we went to preschool. My mom was putting up the the decorations on the christmas tree in the living room that was adjacent to our kitchen and just a step down. She always put up these tiny plastic houses, old shops and tiny churches – usually on the top above our television case – that were covered in snow and would light up when you plugged them into the wall and you could always see the little figures through the tiny windows. She always used fluffy white cotton fabric that she would place around the little houses to imitate snow. She also would always put up the scene of Jesus in the manger with the wise men and the barn animals which too would light up. These were always pleasing to look at and help set up. My dad was outside putting the yellow lights on the gutter of our white house – "white house" is how we always remembered our house back in Madison Wisconsin. We were not big into decorations when it came to holidays like halloween where we would just carve a few pumpkins, but when christmas came my parents seemed to enjoy decorating the most. My mom had brought home some little red candies that were in a box with Rudolph on the cover that me and my brother were waiting to get our hands on after we had finished our snack. • 29. An Analysis Of Henrik Ibsen 's A Doll 's House A Symbol of the Times Henrik Ibsen masterfully uses symbolism to add depth and meaning to his play A Doll's House. The story is about a housewife named Nora who gets into trouble when she forges her father's name to borrow money for her husband's sake. Many objects take on new meaning in this story, from the Christmas tree in the opening scene to the slammed door at the end. Ibsen uses Nora as symbol representing how many women in that time period were treated like objects. The literal meaning of this engaging, but the use of symbolism is what makes it a truly powerful story. The Helmers live in nineteenth century Norway. The opening scene is set during the Christmas season, in the apartment of a somewhat average family where Nora and Torvald are married with three kids. The story revolves around Nora, and how she forged her dying father's signature to acquire a loan. In Nora's eyes she had to go behind Torvald's back, so that she could take him to Italy to recover from his illness. Nora must acquire the money to pay off the loan without her husband knowing. The reason being that Torvald is very tight with money, and would not spend so much on himself. The man Nora borrowed from is employed by Torvald, and will soon be fired. Krogstad is his name, and he tells Nora that if she can convince her husband to let him keep his job, he will not tell Torvald of her actions. Nora can not acquire the money quick enough, so Krogstad sends a letter to Torvald revealing Nora's actions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Christmas Bloomington Project ' Shiyao Luo December 4, 2015 Limor Cohen Spea– A450 Christmas Bloomington Project (Limor's written part) According to many studies, social interaction is consistently proven as correlated with health. This research has been successful in proving the number of benefits resulting from these human relationships such as; reduced stress levels, lower blood pressure, and cognitive health. In order to facilitate these interactions, many place makers aim to reject the increase of inhospitable environments and rather implement environments that promote socialization. In our minds this included; a red bow, a number of ribbons in the holiday's traditional colors, and candy canes. Additionally, we purchased spray chalk in order for those who choose to stop to express their holiday wishes in a fun and playful way. We intended to incentivize them to stop by offering them a candy cane and allowing them to express themselves freely with the medium that we choose. The result of this would not only be the spontaneous communication that we experienced with them in that moment, but also the potential future interactions it may create as a result of people wanting to stop because they are intrigued by the product of the project we created. When decided where to implement this idea, we considered a number of open spaces. However, we really wanted to choose a space that is generally viewed as unappealing in order to put our ideas to the test. We were determined to find a place where people must often pass through but never see a reason to stop. Finally, we agreed on setting the project up on a muddy, woodchip path that is a shortcut often used by music students to get from the Musical Art Center to the Auditorium most efficiently. This area has recently looked especially off–putting in light of the heaving construction adjacent to it. As we had hoped, this seemed urge people to stop. • 37. Original Writing Of A Christmas Tree Farm On The Outskirts... The same day that I shared the baby news with Trent and Tia, I moved back home. After we left Trent's mother's house, we went to Stone Dale Court and picked up my things. As we were putting my belongings into the car, I saw Boogie drive by. He waved and blew the horn at us. When I waved back, I had to remember to call and share the good news with him before someone else could tell him. It didn't take long to put my stuff in the car before I left I gave my mother a big hug and thanked her for taking care of me. As we backed out of the driveway, mom waved and watched us as we drove away. On that same evening, we had cocoa from Starbucks and went shopping for a Christmas tree. After finding a Christmas tree farm on the outskirts of town, we selected a tree that would fit our home best. Since we didn't have a truck, we paid the owner of the lot to deliver our tree. He followed us as we drove home. I didn't realize that the tree was so big until it was positioned in the corner of the living room. It was a good thing we didn't pick a bigger tree because it would not have fit without trimming it and nobody wanted to do that. Tia was ready to add decorations to the tree and drug me into the garage to find ornaments. There were two boxes marked "Christmas Decorations" on a shelf in the garage. As I wondered where the ladder was, Trent joined us in the garage and said, "I hope you're not thinking about getting those boxes down from there." "I can get it," I said as I climbed onto ... Thanksgiving, is not only a time to spend with our families but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. A Cultural Metaphor For Germany Essay This paper will describe Christmas in Germany as a cultural metaphor for Germany. In this research paper I will include all of the characteristics of a German Christmas and explain all of the traditions that we try to mimick here in the United States. I will breakdown the culture of Germany and all of the holiday traditions that they celebrate during the Christmas season. The paper will highlight how we as Americans view Christmas in Germany. Advent Wreath – Der Adventskranz & Advent Calendar – Der Adventskalender The Advent calendar starts on the Sunday after November 26th. This is the time that is devoted for Christmas preparations. After four Advent Sundays are over, there follows Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Advent calendar hangs above childrens beds. The calendar has small numbers on the pictures, numbered 1–24. Wherever the numbers are there are small paper windows, which you will open to find a picture on a translucent paper. The children open these every morning and then they know how many days there are left until Christmas. Apart from the Advent calendar, families have Advent wreaths. These wreaths are made up of holly flowers and bound fir twigs and are placed on a table with four red candles placed in the center. One of the candles is lit on each Sunday preceding Christmas, with the last one being on Christmas Eve. No one knows when the Advent wreath originated in Germany. The Sunday before Advent you will see these wreaths at the local ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Female Speaker: My question here is, I really don't know what I'm going to ask, because, I'm just about trying to absorb a lot of new ideas from you. It's not a question about the leaf, my question is, how ideal of an environment do you want this kind of reference to be? Because, as you said, in the black box maybe we can do some data collection in the lab, for the reference, but in the real world, what we get from the lar experiments and lab research, is difficult to be copied with the filed conditions, where we have discussed that there is light, angle or maybe cloudy or not and things like those. The light in the environment can also have some impact on what we get. Even if we build a whole database as reference from the ideal condition or the ideal situation, can we just use these? John: No, you could, but the accuracy would start to fall off because the conditions in the lab aren't good enough for the changes of the environment. That was why I was trying to put a reference on the blueberry bush. If you put the reference on the blueberry bush, you have your reference sitting in the changing environment. Female Speaker: That is where this laser – John: Yeah, the laser shines out there or you hang a little Christmas tree bulb that is running through the color cube and only those six frequencies that you want and its bursting data like three beats means 550, 16 beats means 900 and so the cameras has software in it that says when I see three beats that's 550. • 57. The Market Creates And Reinforces The Fantasyland By The... Christmas, which is on 25th December every year, is a religious event that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ but it becomes a holiday in many countries, especially western countries where their mainstream religion is Christian. People celebrate Christmas with many traditional rituals, they purchase decorations for houses, gifts giving and have the Christmas dinner with family and friends but the rituals may vary from different countries. Additionally, Christmas is a high consumption season due to the gifts giving culture of traditional activities in western culture and also consumers are offered discounts during the occasion in which Christmas creates 'the consumption fantasyland'. 'Consumption satisfices our basic survival needs and the more abstract needs of cultural, social and personal elements that are symbolic of taste, lifestyles and identity' (Clarke, 2007: 3). This essay will discuss two perspectives, which are classical and cultural perspectives, separately through celebrations that drive consumer behavior before, during Christmas and then in the next section we will discuss about how the market creates and reinforces the fantasyland by the marketing communications for Christmas. There is no doubt that Christmas is a religious event but nowadays Christmas becomes more commercialized, as it has been defined as a high consumption season because the gifts giving culture becomes the most important part of Christmas and the consumers want to please their children ... I attended the Christmas exhibition Friday, November 25, 2016, during the lunch hours. The inner harbor always has an exhibition or activity for the public, during every season. The Christmas Village brings different cultures together to experience the holiday season. The Inner Harbor has an Ice Skating Rink, a German Christmas Village, and a Santa Claus impersonator to take pictures with. The Pandora Ice Skating Rink is a newer edition to the Inner Holiday setup. I paid a small fee of ten dollars to skate and four dollars to rent skates. It is a beautiful experience to ice skate beside the water and to see all the people walk along the harbor. The ice skating rink plays Christmas music to get patrons into a festive mood. The rink is usually busy during the weekends, but since it was the thanksgiving holiday there was a lot of people. A light gust of wind picked up, blowing her wild fiery hair into her face and she pushed it away in slight annoyance. Exhaling a breath, she inched further into her coat and stuffed her hands into her pockets in an attempt to keep warm. Making her way over to a small bench that was dark and slightly rustic, she plopped herself down and instantly fell back into the hard wooden seat with a sigh. Rubbing her glove–covered hands together, she looked towards her vacant surroundings. Lush, vibrant greenery stretched across the vast entirety of the land. The near–naked whimsical–looking trees that were posed disorderly sprouted long thin branches that were yet to blossom into divine colours. Soft yellow light filtered through the grey clouds and casted a warm glow over the field. The faint audible murmur of bristling leaves and the high intermittent chirps of birds pleased her ears. As she watched the blushing withered leaves fall upon the dewy grass, a sense of warm nostalgia settled over her. It was Christmas. A festive evergreen tree brightly decorated with an arrangement of colourful ornaments sat at the edge of the lounge, towering above the young girl that stood beneath it. Although the county benefits from added revenue and employment, there are also disadvantages to the Christmas tree industry. Pesticides are used to prevent diseases on trees, yet they are harmful to the environment as well as the wildlife. Personal Narrative : Having A Perfect Christmas Eve I was having a perfect Christmas Eve, I had just hung up my stockings making every single thing straight so when Santa slipped down the chimney it would be perfect. While I was organizing Santa's cookies and milk I started to wonder, was Santa really real? Of course he was real because every year on Christmas Eve he would leave me presents under the tree. I had also seen pictures of him everywhere down town when I was helping my mama Christmas shop. He was also on all kinds of decorations and goodies. Then I started hearing voices. I was really wanting to go see Santa and the voices were telling me to go find him. When I would talk to the voices they would answer me back. When I said I wish I could go see Santa, his workshop, and ride in his sleigh the voice answered back and said, "Why don't you go then?'' I tried to explain that I could not and that it was not that easy. The voice replied, "Just try on these Shoes, and take this Light in your hand, and you'll find your way all right.'' The shoes fit just right! So I started on my journey. It was like I knew exactly where I was going. I just wanted to sing and laugh, I was full of excitement. Then I seen a house at the end of a path. In every window there was a candle that lit up the house. I knew it was a sign. It is not much of a choice for business leaders to change elements of their organization to stay in competition with their peers. The hardest part, most of the time, is changing the people in the organization to develop the necessary outcome or goal. As a business leader getting rid of people or changing their job specifics is one of the many responsibilities they have to be comfortable performing. In effect, she is wearing it for him: the sight of her dancing in it throws him into a state of erotic fascination. This reinforces the idea that it is Nora's superficial and transient qualities, such as her beauty, that Torvald most appreciates. It is significant that when the Nurse first brings out the dress (Act 2), Nora notices that it is torn and is tempted to rip it to shreds. This may be symbolic of the flawed state of her marriage and of her feelings about it. Mrs Linde, who is less impetuous and more mature than Nora, suggests repairing it, and it is Mrs Linde who decides that Nora and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mythology of tarantism suggests that she is dancing in order to rid herself of a deadly poison. Depending on how we wish to interpret this symbolism, the poison may be the threat posed by Krogstad's revelations, or the poison of deception and hypocrisy that characterizes the Helmer marriage. Light Light is most often used to symbolize Nora's state of awareness. After Torvald claims to be man enough to take everything upon himself (Act 2) and while she is talking to Dr Rank, the light begins to grow dark. This symbolism refers to two processes. First, Nora is using her sexual attractiveness to manipulate the dying Dr Rank into giving her money to pay off her loan. When Dr Rank confesses his love for her, she is shocked out of her game. She brings in a lamp, telling Dr Rank that he must feel ashamed of himself now that the lamp has come. Light also appears to symbolize hope and spiritual redemption when Dr Rank is talking in code to Nora about his coming death (Act 3). He talks of death as a big black hat that will make him invisible, an image of obliteration of life. But Nora brings him a light for his cigar as she wishes him goodbye. The Pros And Cons Of Santa Claus Shops are bursting with toys, mince pies are on the menu and radios are blasting out Christmas tunes –– so it's time for another festive favourite: lying to children. For millions of children, Santa is an essential part of the Christmas magic. But if parents persuade their children that Santa is real, that lie may harm them, according to psychologists First of all, you're setting your child up for inevitable disappointment when they realize the truth about Santa. Everyone remembers that moment they realized that Santa Claus wasn't real. The disappointment is so searing. For many people the holidays never again hold the same kind of magic. Speaking as former child, I remember the abject disappointment when I found out that this Christmas magic was just a fiction. The spell was broken; the escape from reality that children and adults can share for a few months had gone. Christmas was never the same again. Most children like little believe in Santa Claus. But when do they stop? Perhaps gardeners – about 5–6, and some do not stop and up to 7–year–olds. Breaking with Santa Claus is like parting with childhood. Do we encourage our children to believe for a long time, or even when they are five, to surrender and reveal their naked truth? Do we believe ourselves? Who is actually Santa? It is not a lie to buy gifts, it is the belief in the good old man who brings to everyone something on Christmas. As my children progressed through high school, I knew certain classes or clubs were involved with participating in food drives. Our house was one of the most targeted homes for quite some time as we live directly across the street from St. Michael's Elementary School which is where some of the organizations met. St. Cecilia's is also a school that requires wearing a uniform and, occasionally, the kids could have a free jeans day if each student brought in so many items for the food pantry and my children were no different than a lot of the others...they wanted to wear jeans so they would raid my pantry to take food to school. I did not really give it much thought at the time when I was pulling food from my pantry of how this small act of kindness would help others. I knew there was a need for the food otherwise the food drive would not take place. I was so naïve in my thought process at that time. The night that I helped sort food at the food pantry was a major eye opener. My role for the evening was to help supervise high school students, who were sorting through the food as a community service project. • 121. Symbolism : A Doll House Brittany Drake Professor Hammond English 102–106 Poetry Essay 6 October 2015 A Doll House: Symbolism In Henrik Ibsen's A Doll House, there is plenty of symbolism that helps the play to move forward. Symbols as small as Nora eating macaroons, the tarantella dance, and the Christmas tree to as broad as New Year's. The macaroons and the tarantella reveal Nora's personality and her character. The Christmas tree and the concept of New Year's reveal the current states of the relationships in the play. The Christmas tree represents the innocence and the assumed happy relationship between Nora, Torvald, and the rest of the cast at first. Then at the beginning of the second act, after Nora's increased paranoia due to her conversation with Krogstad, the Christmas tree is shown to be disheveled; which serves as the symbolism to the decline of stability in the play. New Year's is part of the setting of the play but it shows the hope for the future of Nora and Torvald. Torvald is scheduled for a promotion at the start of the new year which would add to their financial stability, and in Nora's favor, she could pay back her debt to Krogstad with the newfound income. The macaroons, the tarantella, the Christmas tree, and New Year's all serve to add to the dynamic of the play and help the play move forward. The first symbol is the macaroons, a small cake pastry. The Doors Of The Opera House Becca barged through the doors of the Opera House weighed down by a heavy ballet tote, a substantially stuffed garment bag, and an oversized platter of peanut butter cup cookies. She moved steadily in the direction of the designated cookie drop–off. When she finally got to the changing room, only a few other girls had arrived. Miss Claudine was in the back of the room talking on her cell. She waved at Becca. "I'm so excited!" Abby cried. "I can't believe it's finally here," Shannon added with a bounce. "We've been practicing forever." "Are you nervous, Becca?" Abby asked. Becca nodded. "A little, but I'm ready." "You don't have anything to be nervous about. You're, like, the best dancer. You're amazing!" Shannon gushed. "Thank you," Becca replied with sincerity. "I don't know how you do it, Becca," Abby said with eyes bulging, "especially the drop." Miss Claudine finished her call and came over. "You girls have worked so hard," she said. "I have a feeling tonight will be very special." The girls nodded in agreement, and their teacher moved on to greet the next group arriving. The dancers hurried into their costumes helping each other with zippers, extra bobby pins, and hair spray. Becca was glad to be one of the first ready and to get out of the stuffy commotion–filled room. She went to the backstage area to begin practicing her dance steps. Within fifteen minutes, she was surrounded by other dancers doing the same thing. To pass time, the dancers shared their plans for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 129. A Sacrificial Love Of Clara And Her Husband Tuck A Sacrificial Love December 26th, 2014. One of the most heartbreaking days that Clara and her husband Tuck would ever endure. On the morning of that horrific day, Tuck would wake up to the ringing of the worst Christmas gift he would ever receive. He had woken up very early that morning, and he'd sat down on the couch for a few minutes to watch the old television that they had picked up in a thrift store, in the only room where they had one, and he fell asleep. He heard the ringing and reached for the phone. He recognized the number, it was a co worker and a buddy of both him and his brother. He had figured that maybe it was a call about work, or a belated "Merry Christmas," but the call was nothing of the sort. His buddy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bailey had a rather large collection of Harley t–shirts, and they had been passed on to Tuck, who was his younger brother, but Tuck claimed that he fit into the shirts like a "stuffed sausage." Clara had been saving every penny she could, and she decided that she wanted to get Tuck a quilt made from his brother's Harley t–shirts. Last year, she had not had nearly enough money to have the quilt made. This year, money was even tighter, and she still did not have enough money to have the quilt made, especially because she wanted it made by the best in town. The quilt would cost about $400.000, and she had to come up with the money quickly, due to Christmas being just two months away, and the quilt–maker needing time to make the quilt. Clara took her most prized item, her precious necklace that had been passed down to her by her mother, to a pawn shop to sell it. Her father had bought it for her mother in Vietnam, and gave it to her when he got back from the war. The necklace had given her $200, even though the chain on it was broken, and by the end of November, she had saved enough money that when she added it to the money from the necklace, she had enough for the quilt. Knowing that she had very limited time, Clara called the quilt–maker and told her that she would be on her way with the money and the t–shirts. She went over to Tuck's closet where the t–shirts were kept, and discovered that there was only one shirt in the box. Clara took the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 133. Meaningful Memories Of Christmas Meaningful Memories Christmas is a magical time of year celebrated by most people on December 25th. It's a religious and cultural holiday that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. Although the actual holiday is just one day of the year, I celebrate the holiday for several weeks leading up to the actual date with decorations, gift exchanges, social events, and family gatherings. These events establish traditions and memories that I one–day hope to share with my family. I always start planning for Christmas in early November to make the most of the holiday season. To set the mood for my planning time I turn on my favorite Christmas music. Next, I gather my calendar, computer, pen, and paper. I check the T.V. listings for Christmas movies, contact my friends to see when they are available to get together for an ugly Christmas sweater party, and to bake cookies. I mark the dates for these activities on my calendar. Next, on my computer I search for holiday events in my area and note the events I want to attend on my calendar. I purchase any advance tickets for events that require a reservation and print the tickets. Next, I set a budget for Christmas presents. Using my pen and paper I make a list of my friends and family that I need to buy presents for. On the list I include the names, presents, and the estimated price of each present, ensuring that I don't exceed my budget. As Christmas approaches I will make a few shopping trips to shop for presents. After I bring the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on “the Communication of Window Displays” Selfridges "The Communication of Window displays" Selfridges BA (HONS) Fashion Management – ISHE Henry Gordon Selfridge was famous for lighting up store windows at night and his art of displays. He opened up the largest store in the world and his own retail empire in 1903. Soon, H.G. Selfridge & Co sold out and he retired a rich man. In 1909, Selfridge's focused on advertising and publicity. This led to air shows and exciting ideas such as the Theatre of Retail. In this essay, I will use primary research as well as journals, articles, videos, books and websites to bring my research together. By this, I will prove how the windows of Selfridges consistently work to promote the cheerful image of the retailer. From the start, Selfridges ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This coldness, along with the strong clutch of the prop, which is the hand, create a language or entertainement to the passerby. This is all done through simplicity where the props are adding significant value to the window, allowing the window to reflet the brand image. This supports the idea that retail design is more reactive than product design, since the added value in the window given to the shoes made them more attractive to buy. Source: Personal Photo, 2010 The localized light in Figure 4 establishes coziness in the window. It seduces the customer to look into the window. This lessens the effect of the exxagerated walls and floor. The light also removes the attention off the mannequins clothing and onto the shoes around her. The props here may, to some people, override everything else. Still, they create a surprising element, causing a passerby to come back for more, according to Mary Portas. Also, although they are random, they still hang together with the merchandise and make it more graphic. These three windows get emotions excited by allowing the customer to be a part of something much larger, tightening the retailer's relationship with the consumer. • 141. Personal Narrative I think Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe because of the special atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops, restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can tell you for sure is that I can't think of anything more exciting than the image of the entire family preparing the Christmas Tree or fixing the Christmas dishes. When I think of Christmas the first thing that pops into my mind is the delicious Chocolate Cake that only my grandma knows how to prepare. Perhaps this is the reason why, every year, my family and me try to spend our holiday at our grandma's place. So, every year, we all step into the car and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My cousins are running, playing , and laughing. Then we both sit down and talk about the incredibly long journey to her house. After a few minutes we are announced that the dinner is served. Everyone takes a seat at the large oak table, waiting anxious for the delicious dishes to be brought. But, what I think that everyone is really waiting for is the delightful desert. • 149. A Doll House By Henrik Ibsen A Doll House The play A Doll House written by Henrik Ibsen has strong symbolisms such as the doll house, Christmas tree, macaroons, and New Year's day that help outline the theme. The author uses symbolisms to pull his audience in and allow them to feel the full effect of inequality and emotional abuse men gave women in the year of 1879, when Ibsen wrote this play. The first symbolism in this play is the Christmas tree which represents Nora's inner state of mind. In Act 2 the stage directions describe the Christmas tree and how it "now stands stripped of ornament, burned–down candle stubs on its ragged branches." (Ibsen 1266). Ibsen goes on to tell the audience that Nora is ", alone in the room, moves restlessly about," (1266). Here the Christmas tree symbolizes Nora's disordered mind. The Christmas tree also characterizes Nora's web of lies hidden from her husband. She decorates her life with candy, clothes, toys, and money to make herself feel better, filling the emptiness inside her. This also shows when she wants the Christmas tree to be perfect and not allowing her children to see it until it is decorated. All of these materialistic things Nora uses to decorate her life begins to fall away when the truth comes out. This also leads to Nora's role in the home setting. Just as she was her father's doll–child, she is also her husband's doll, his possession. She is mere decoration, someone to sit there, look pretty, and do as her husband says. Nothing but a status symbol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A trail of small lanterns glow the church to the middle of town up on the lonely hill inviting all to join the night mass later that day. A lonely , lost and forgotten wanders through the crowd. No man pays him any attention or even notices him. Yet, he'd been coming here for years. well too many to remember. He's no longer warmed by the sweet scents of pine trees drifting over the crowd of carol singers. He always looks among the crowd because it remind him of the life he once had and could never retrieve. It would be wise for him to leave now before it's too late but as always something distracts him. With a sentimental fondness, he watches a young girl with a age of five or six years, as she stares up into the night sky trying to glimpse Santa's sleigh. Then he smiles broadly at her squeal of joy as the first flakes of snow begin to tumble to down, dusting everything with a soft magical powder. Her parents shiver and wrap their scarfs tighter around their faces while clutching song sheets in their gloved hands, determined not to let the chilly weather deter them from this annual traditional.
