This is question 2 of my evaluation

1. How does your media product
represent particular social
groups.

3. The main social group which WHATSTHATMIX is aimed
at is late teens early twenties who enjoy going out
clubbing and dancing. These groups will listen to
dance music throughout the day.
It is also for fans of DJ artists themselves, this ranges
from fans who follow DJ’s around and just fans who
listen to their music.
It could also be aimed at groups of people who enjoy
going to regular gigs and festivals as this magazine
reveals all about both activities.

6. Musicians may be interested in this music
magazine as there are lots of articles which
talk about how to mix and how most DJ’s
started out. Which will give advice and guide
new musicians on how they can pursue there
dreams.
WHATSTHATMIX, is aimed at both males and
females as it does not discriminate either of
the genders.

8. For my main image on my contents page I ensured that
it was a female with minimal makeup on so that she
could not be mistaken for a different genre. I made
sure that the background said ‘DANCE’ by popping
party poppers and taking extreme close ups of the
streamers which come out. I added the headphones
around the neck as a DJ feel, as stereotypically that is
what DJ’s wear.
The overall mood of the picture is happy, like she is
having fun (like she would be at a party or in a club)

10. For my double page spread I ensured that it was a male,
this was done to mix up the genders so that it is not
all one sex. His mood is very serious but he still has a
smirk on his face this again shows that he is happy
that he is in the club doing what he loves. He has his
decks in front of him which stereotypically is the
props DJ’s do have. The main image had a dark
background this is to represent the dance house style
which was mirrored throughout my magazine.
The contents page was a mixture of pictures from my
front cover shoot my double page spread and a
picture of a festival I attended.
