WHY HAVE I CHOSEN THESE COSTUMES?
Abbie Marren: We need to see a explicit transformation from Abbie wearing dull and
basic clothes to wearing stylish clothes and lots of colours. Wearing bright colours have
connotations of someone who is confident, loud and wants to stand out. Dull, basic
clothing make someone seem quiet and introvert wanting to blend in.
In the film, image is the main factor. Abbie’s character is shy and timid whereas her
clothes portray her as extrovert and very outgoing. The controversy is how she is treated
differently because of the way she looks.
Anna Bennett: Anna is a very complex character. She taking a hairdressing course that
she is committed to. Anna is sociable and quirky , however she gets on with Abbie
because they balance out each other. Her clothes try to match her personality. For
example, she likes to wear clashing colours and different patterns. She is eccentric with
her hairstyles and makeup, but doesn’t take pride in how she looks. Her colour pallet has
the connotations of someone who is edgy and has character. It is different from stylish
and colourful because we don’t want Anna to be ‘in’.
WHY HAVE I CHOSEN THESE COSTUMES?
Alissa Chambers: Her style is quite real and practical, she doesn’t wear heels or fur but
she has great interest in her appearance. She is subtle but powerful. Therefore, I have put
her in blacks, dark blues, dark greens and dark reds. She will also wear style outfits, such
as, tunics, skirts, jackets and long-sleeved tops. She isn’t too feminine and she doesn’t
carry her own style because what she wears is cool, stylish and how everyone else wants
to dress. The colour scheme resembles her traits, she is huge contrast to Anna, which
shows that they are completely different people to the audience and to Abbie.
WHY HAVE I CHOSEN THESE COSTUMES?
Sofiya Hall: Sofiya is sporty and wears mostly leggings or jeans. She isn’t a tomboy as she
wears a full face of makeup everyday. She also makes sure that she wears the latest
brands. For example, she may wear black Adidas leggings and an Adidas hoodie, with
black trainers. This look is cool and casual. When she wears jeans she will have a bright
hoodie or sweatshirt on, with a brand name or logo. This is to prove that she is wealthy
and owns expensive clothes.
WHY HAVE I CHOSEN THESE COSTUMES?
WHERE I WILL GET MY OUTFITS.
The cast members will provide their own clothes. I have chosen people who are familiar
with their characters style, therefore own the appropriate clothing wear.
I may discover that an actor doesn’t have suitable clothing for a scene. Then I will use my
own or purchase the necessary items.
I will notify my cast as to when to bring their costumes and what they will need to bring.
It may be that they wear that specific outfit to filming location to prevent loss.

WHY HAVE I CHOSEN THESE PROPS?
One of Abbie’s main transformational factors happens once she becomes friends with Alissa and Sofiya. I
think it will be effective if we see Anna and Abbie wear rucksacks at the beginning.
As the film progresses and we see their friendship deteriorate, Abbie starts wearing stylish shoulder bags
like the other girls. This represents her becoming closer with Alissa and Sofiya and wanting to dress/ act
like them. At the end of the film, Abbie can wear her rucksack again to show Anna that she wants to wear it
and doesn’t care about the other girls and what they wear.
I also want to Abbie to have school books at the beginning to show her commitment to her courses. Again
as we see her change she will no longer carry books because Alissa and Sofiya don’t carry book. To
contrast this, Anna will continue to carry books or folders.
I want to incorporate phones to be part of the film as I want to show that it is set in modern day as well as
using it as a form of communication. Scene 4 is where the phone is used most. It is where Anna and Abbie
are texting from different parts of the sixth form building trying to meet but Alissa and Sofiya get in the
way. The camera shots are able to see the messages. Alternatively they can be shown on the screen
through creating a message. For example, ‘Hi, I am at the lockers’, can be typed onto the screen of the film,
rather than zooming into the phone as that can cause lighting issues and may not be clear enough. It will
also allow an opportunity for creative editing.

  • 8. WHERE I WILL GET MY OUTFITS. The cast members will provide their own clothes. I have chosen people who are familiar with their characters style, therefore own the appropriate clothing wear. I may discover that an actor doesn’t have suitable clothing for a scene. Then I will use my own or purchase the necessary items. I will notify my cast as to when to bring their costumes and what they will need to bring. It may be that they wear that specific outfit to filming location to prevent loss.

  • 13. WHY HAVE I CHOSEN THESE PROPS? One of Abbie’s main transformational factors happens once she becomes friends with Alissa and Sofiya. I think it will be effective if we see Anna and Abbie wear rucksacks at the beginning. As the film progresses and we see their friendship deteriorate, Abbie starts wearing stylish shoulder bags like the other girls. This represents her becoming closer with Alissa and Sofiya and wanting to dress/ act like them. At the end of the film, Abbie can wear her rucksack again to show Anna that she wants to wear it and doesn’t care about the other girls and what they wear. I also want to Abbie to have school books at the beginning to show her commitment to her courses. Again as we see her change she will no longer carry books because Alissa and Sofiya don’t carry book. To contrast this, Anna will continue to carry books or folders. I want to incorporate phones to be part of the film as I want to show that it is set in modern day as well as using it as a form of communication. Scene 4 is where the phone is used most. It is where Anna and Abbie are texting from different parts of the sixth form building trying to meet but Alissa and Sofiya get in the way. The camera shots are able to see the messages. Alternatively they can be shown on the screen through creating a message. For example, ‘Hi, I am at the lockers’, can be typed onto the screen of the film, rather than zooming into the phone as that can cause lighting issues and may not be clear enough. It will also allow an opportunity for creative editing.
