order for the family to find out what happened to their innocent child they had to use the help of the

The Lindbergh Case was one in which the whole world seemed to be following in 1932. Charles Jr.
was so easily swept away from his room and family in the middle of the night with little clues to tell
what and how it happened. This meant the involvement of the Criminal Justice System was needed
to try and find out who had taken their baby. These components include the Police, Court, and
eventually Corrections. Starting with the Police, or the detectives on the scene of the abduction. For
this particular incident there was involvement with New Jersey Police, New York Police, and the
F.B.I which at times caused some confusion. The detectives on the scene found little evidence
initially, this included a Ransom note and a broken ladder with some footprints outside the house.
Once reading the ransom note they found that it was written in a very childish tone and a lot was

look into all possible suspects in the kidnapping, It started with the family members themselves in
which they had to take in all aspects, including Anne Lindbergh's' sister Elizabeth who was seen as

At the same time the automobile became popular, aircraft began to develop. Although during the
World War II, aircraft is widely used to attack into enemy lines, prior to this, aircraft was used to
deliver mail and compete for the distance it could fly without making any stop. One such aviator,

The flight would last more than 3600 miles but, indeed it is the shortest route. During his flight, he
had encountered several challenges such as cold climate and clouds that block his sight. But the
most difficulty was to stay awake. In total, he hasn't slept in 55 hours because of pre–flight
preparation and the long journey itself. In order to prevent from falling asleep, he kept the windows
open and flew near the surface of the ocean, which makes chilly sea spray. But the lack of rest
caused him to experience hallucinations and he later claimed that he spotted a mirage–like "fog

He received many prestigious honors, including Distinguished Flying Cross medal from President
Calvin Coolidge. He traveled around the country to give speeches and participate in parades, which

March of 1932 from their home in Hopewell, New Jersey. A ransom note was written and eventually

Mr. Hauptman did not spend much time on death row. He was executed by electrocution on April 4,
1936. Many people, including his family, tried to get him to confess in hopes of saving his life, or at
least giving the Lindbergh family some peace. He went to his grave that day with the truth. He
maintained his innocence until the end. In an interview conducted by two reporters, he stated that if
he had to die, he would die an innocent man when asked if he was afraid of the electric chair.

are allegations of paid witnesses, as well as jury misconduct. In today's courtroom settings things

From the start of the investigation investigators thought that the case would go cold because of the
lack of any information on who might be the kidnapper. Due to this lack of evidence and no possible
suspects at the start of the investigation it made the case have no real breakthroughs for the first two
months. This is until the evidence was evaluated more in depth, and new ransom notes were
delivered to the Lindbergh's.
The in depth analysis of the little evidence from the crime was able to lead the main suspect, Bruno
Hauptmann. From the first search of the nursery "a ransom note demanding $50,000 was found on
the nursery window sill" ("Lindbergh Kidnapping"). This ransom letter was found to have
handwriting similar to that of a German. After the case went cold for three days a second ransom
note showed up, this time the price was raised to $70000 ("Lindbergh baby kidnapped"). The
Lindbergh's decided that after the second ransom note, saying that their kid was still alive, they
decided it was time to pay the ransom money to save their child. They were able to negotiate with a
man named John to pay the first ransom of $50,000. This transaction went down in a cemetery close
to the Lindbergh house, and gave the mysterious man the nickname 'Cemetery John'. This ransom
money would later be used to find Bruno Hauptmann, the real killer.
