Research into Competitors and Market
After putting a lot of research into videos and campaigns with a similar style and product as mine, I
have found several videos. With the videos I’ve found, there are many similar camera angles and
editing as those I was intending on using. This then shows how these techniques are successful and
powerful for the audience.
The advert below , produced to advertise the sport energy drink, Powerade. This advert is similar to
mine in that it’s all revolved around one certain product but shows how it can be used and
implanted into different scenarios and situations. This is what I want to produce so that it increases
the possible target audience and appeals to more people. Also it’s appealing because of the high
tempo and quick change of scene; it’s exciting due to its use of actual sporting legends and realistic.

With sport adverts, the actual advert has to be quick, consistently at a high tempo and quick sharp
camera effects and changes. This is because nearly all sports are run at a fast pace. The target
audience for sport based adverts and campaigns will obviously be into sport and like the idea of
watching an exciting, high tempo advert so it keeps them occupied and wanting to watch the rest of
the advert. The two adverts (above & below) are prime examples of this as they both are quick,
exciting and lead you on to the unknown of the next shot. I want my product to be similar to these in
many ways such as the speed, camera techniques, ideas and simple styles of the advert.
The advert below is an Adidas based advert, the main rival to Nike in the sporting market and
industry. With this advert, they’ve mainly focused upon one type of product, the running gear.
They’ve modelled it by their top sporting legends who are sponsored by Adidas, such as Lionel
Messi. Also by making it short, sharp and exciting it broadens the possible target audience and
makes the video ore exciting. I’ll be hoping to produce an advert among the same lines as this but
with a larger variety of clothing and equipment.

There are usually around 10-15 sporting adverts released in the same period of time, mainly spread
out over different sporting brands such as Nike, Adidas, Puma, Reebok and Kappa. This means
there’s more competition and the role of advert producer is one of the biggest roles in the business.
Normally most of the main adverts released are produced by Adidas and Nike.
Adidas is Nikes biggest rival due to them both holding the name as the world’s two biggest sport
brand. This means that adverts and promotional videos play pivotal parts in trying to boost their
chances of becoming the number 1 sporting brand worldwide. The more and better they advertise
the more sales they have resulting in more profit and more of their products worn and used.
