Editor's Notes
We are inundated with buzzwords. Now it's the turn of Artificial Intelligence, which will indeed be a revolution. However, let's not forget about everything else. In addition to discovering the latest AI-related updates from Shopify, we will provide more context on the current state of commerce, including new and old challenges to consider.
Shopify intro: who we are, what we do and how much we invest in R&D
The last Editions is focused on AI. Here you can see what we call SHOPIFY MAGIC” and at the end of my presentation, I’ll introduce you to Sidekick, something will be available soon to all the Shopify merchants
The result of this investment is aggregate and visible in what we call Editions
But today, my goal is to give you an update from our privileged point of view. I’d like to show 3 main things that are changing the context we operate in, sharing some interesting data. Then we can talk about generative AI
Let’s start from the Economic Context. I’ve shared this stat with you last year. This is an updated one. Last year it was 71%, today is 83%. I’m talking about the consumers changing their habits (buying from different brands, buying less or more, buying online or offline, etc. This is due all the things we know (inflations, war, back to offline shopping post Covid, etc). The TLDR is that consumers are less loyal.
The second set of insights I share:
Social commerce is growing a lot
But it’s cost is growing even more.
Third: again omnichannel like for the past 5 or 6 years.
These data come from NetRetail by Consorzio Netcomm. You can see how online influence offline and viceversa AND - on the right - an index showing how companies are adapting to this trend.
Finally AI. These data come from McKinsey and bla bla bla
So what?
After all this context, it’s finally time to talk again about AI. I won’t do that, but I’ll let my boss introduce you to Sidekick, something which will revolution our way to work in the commerce space. Thanks
