  1. 4 Hugh Vol. 42 November 14, 2017 Number 44 Changeables and Unchangeables What is one of the main topics for conversation? It is the weather. Why is that? Maybe it is because it is so changeable. I guess we are inclined to talk about changeable things. What we pay for gasoline is another common conversation piece today. Again this is because prices are so changeable, mostly changing in an upward direction. We will probably go on thinking about and conversing about changeable things. That is alright; but it would be good if we gave more thought and engaged in more frequent conversation about some things which never change. God, the Father, declared, “…I change not…” (Malachi 3:6). Then we read, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8). The gospel of Christ is also unchangeable. According to Galatians 1:8-9, even an angel from heaven would be accursed for preaching a different gospel. We should love to think on and discuss these unchangeables! --Robert Kingsley ELDERS Mike Childers..............397-6453 Dennis Hallmark .........255-5557 Mike Ratliff.................840-2206 DEACONS Wade Bryan.................419-5552 William Harris.............416-8149 Mark Hitt.....................322-0917 Bobby Lindley.............869-0546 Ricky Lindsey .............844-9944 Jeff Mansel..................871-0357 Harold Roby................844-5431 Joe Smith.....................397-4524 Jimmy Spearman.........840-8957 Michael Wilson ...........891-0891 PREACHER .....................................840-5804 SECRETARY Renee Childers Office...........................842-6116 Fax...............................842-7091 E-MAIL eastmaincoc38804@gmail.com WEB PAGE eastmaincoc.com SUNDAY SERVICES Bible Classes............... 9:45 a.m. Morning Worship...... 10:45 a.m. Evening Worship.........5:00 p.m. Singing or Devotional Last Sunday of the Month MID-WEEK SERVICES Wednesday Classes .....7:00 p.m. EAST MAIN CHURCH OF CHRIST 1606 East Main Street P. 2. New Elders The church Jesus said, “I will build,” (Matt. 16:18) has been in existence on earth since A.D. 33. The government He gave it is one where He continues to rule as the supreme head of the church (Eph. 1:22-23). As we can see in the New Testament, there are local congregations. These local groups are placed under the loving oversight of men called elders, bishops, presbyters, or pastors. The elders here at the East Main church of Christ have been in much prayerful consideration about the thought of making additions to the existing eldership. We would like to put before the congregation two men for your consideration to be added to the eldership. We would like for you to consider our brothers Bobby Joe Lindley and Mark Hitt. We would like for you to view these men in light of Titus 1, 2 and 1 Timothy 3. We will leave this open for your consideration until Nov. 19. If there be a reason someone feels there may be a hindrance for either of these men to serve competently in this role, we want you to make your concerns known. If there be no Scriptural objections, these men will be installed as elders Nov. 19.
